Six Pick Week 3

Somehow I deleted my first one and this is take two, which means this will be an abbreviated version ::cheers::

Lets cut to the chase, nationally, there are a couple of good games out there this week, but only one that matters. All of the attention is going to be in College Station as the Tide look for pay back against aTm, who handed Alabama their only defeat last season. Johnny Manziel and the Aggie no huddle spread is the great equation Nick Saban has pondered since early January. Solving and stopping this attack will arouse him more than a double dose of Cialis. Forget the Johnny drama, be it real or made up leading up to the game, instead focus on what Alabamas game plan is to stop him and how the Aggies counter those moves.

I bet Sumlin would trade all these fans for a real 12th man on the field.

This Weeks Games

Saturday, September 14th

UCLA at Nebraska -4.5 ~ 12:00 pm ABC

• Remember when the Blackshirts meant fierce, fast and tough defense? That time has passed, now it means marketing and uniform sales
• It didnt take long for Jim Mora to make the Bruins the best team in L.A., though a hat tip can go to the NCAA and Lane Kiffin who have the Trojans redlining going in reverse

Pick: Nebraska by a touchdown, but only because they are at home. I have 0 confidence in this pick.

Virginia Tech -7.5 at East Carolina ~ 12:00 pm FS1

• Weather forecast is good news, bad news for Hokies going to the game. It will be pleasant and not boiling hot, but those in O&M will still see a bunch of shirtless Pirate fans shotgunning beers
• In Bud and Torrian, I trust, but one injury to anyone in the secondary and it could get real, quick

Pick: ECU covering by a half point. The VT O isnt there yet.

Tennessee at Oregon -27.5 ~ 3:30 pm ABC

• Watch an efficient, explosive, high powered offensive attack boat race a SEC team. Sign me up
• My first peak at the Butch Jones era for puke orange. I think he's in for what will be the first of many bad losses this season

Pick: Oregon covering. It's a big number, but they are at home and Tennessee has a long way to go to be a good team.

Alabama -7.5 at Texas A&M ~ 3:30 pm CBS

• Johnny Footbaww is a hot head, which leads to fantastic tv and penchant for him to do something really stupid. Popcorn time!
• Make no mistake, it's not revenge Saban's after. It's a reckonin'

Pick: Alabama covering and Larry not getting asked why and the hell beaten out of him by his wife.

Ole Miss at Texas -2.5 ~ 8:00 pm LHN

• The end comes quick for some coaches, often without warning. Seems everyone but Mack Brown can see that
• Texas is Texas* though they'll come out fired up, but the first hit to the chin, they'll fold up like Glass Joe

* Texas equals doing way less with a whole more.
Pick: Ole Miss and the points. I know pride counts for a lot, but it can't beat better coaching, fundamentals and confidence.

Wisconsin at Arizona State -5.5 ~ 10:30 pm ESPN

• Todd Graham is grade A scum bag and slimy as hell. He's also a pretty good coach and has ASU going in the right direction
• I expected Wiscy to miss Bert, but Gary Andersen (vs creampuffs) looks like they haven't missed a beat. We'll know a lot more after Saturday night

Pick: Arizona State by a touchdown. I think this will be a close game, I'll take the home team, if only because of the coeds.

Beer of the Week:

Saturday is Cantillons Zwanze Day featuring a one off, not your standard issue Abbey Ale. Only 22 bars in the U.S. got this beer and one just happens to be between my house and my ODU tailgating spot. Yay for me.
