Devyn Ford Commitment Details

A Hokies' top target in the 2019 cycle, blue-chip running back Devyn Ford revealed his commitment details. After Ford canceled an official visit to Ohio State, the finalists are seemingly Virginia Tech and Penn State.

Ford's coach at North Stafford HS, Joe Mangano, shed some light on what Ford would weigh in his decision.

"Trust and which school he sees is the investment for 40 years not 4 years. Both schools are outstanding and have really earned his trust. He is very high on both of them."

Mangano provided more details to Land of 10.

"These are staffs he really trusts and, in particular, both head coaches connect well with him," North Stafford coach Joe Mangano told Land of 10. "In our football program, we always say the most important word is 'trust', and if you don't have that then nothing matters. Going through this process, I don't think he's looking for the best facilities or the best offense. He's looking for which program is going to look out for Devyn Ford for the next 40 years, not just the next few."

Ohio State was the third contender here and hosted Ford in early April, but there was a parting of ways when the Buckeyes added a second 2019 running back commit. Ford used official visits at Penn State and Virginia Tech during consecutive weekends in April and, according to Mangano, his travels are done.

"Devyn told me there won't be anymore visits, official or unofficial, and in his mind the recruiting process is over," Mangano said. "For him, it's now a decision process. Once he commits to a school, unless something catastrophic happens and a coach gets fired or something, it's going to be done and Devyn will move on to the next chapter in his life."
