WBB vs Purdue in the Big 10 Challenge

The Ladies play Purdue today at 7PM in Cassell in the ACC Big Ten challenge. The game is only on ACC Network Extra, which is on Watch ESPN if your cable supplier carries the ACC Network. That's everybody except Comcast.

Purdue is 6-1 with wins at Milwaukee(68-55), Chattanooga(66-34), Western Illinois(66-59), Northern Illinois(68-63), Drake(67-47) and Arizona State(59-52). Their loss was to No. 22 Gonzaga(50-63).

The roster:

Season stats for the stat nerds:

Purdue seems to be a defense oriented team, holding opponents to 53 points per game. No. 32 Harris is a great shot blocker, averaging 3 blocks per game and a career total of over 300 blocks. I have never seen a WBB player picture like hers; she looks impressive.

Even in their loss to Gonzaga they won the rebound stats by 7. They are not a 3 point shooting team averaging only 5 made 3's per game and only attempting 15. But there are really good at defending the 3 allowing only 23% completion so far this season.

The Hokies should match up pretty well against their starters if somebody can keep Harris off the boards. Harris did foul out in their loss to Gonzaga; but that was only her second DQ in her career(111 games).

The Ladies need to make their 3's and be aggressive in blocking out Harris to win this game.

Go Hokies!

And LET'S GO.......

Reel men fish on Wednesdays

Hokies! Up 29-27 at the half. Sloppy game. Lots of turnovers. Both teams shooting 40%. Hokies only 27% from 3.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

We won it by a comfortable margin. Well done HOKIES!

Our ladies did what the LOLUVa men could not: beat Purdue on the hardwood!

Nice work Lady Hokies! 6 years and counting in the win column for the ACC/ Big Ten Challenge!

We held up our end of the bargain, but a 0-5 start for the ACC yesterday spelled doom as the B1G earned their first-ever win in the women's challenge, 9-5.
