Stoked for what Bungie has in store for us with their recently announced panel. It also sounds like there could be some big things coming through the pipeline as far as some other big franchises so we will see!

Most of these exotics were nerved with Menagerie and raids in mind. Did y'all see the Bungie stream today? I'm not going to lie, I got emotional. I think it really came through today on how badly Activision was controlling the creative direction of the game and how far they limited the Bungie devs.

I had JUST broken my Destiny addiction a couple months ago (after the grind to get Luna's Howl sucked the fun out of the game for me, that and not having a consistent raid group). Now I want to play it all the time again. RIP my backlog.

Hahahahah. I've mostly been running D2 solo. I have a clan but, no one is ever on. I reached 700 light pretty easily without doing a single raid or nightfall. Now with cross save confirmed I'm going to be able to play with the same characters on my PS4, Xbone, AND my PC.

EA isn't even technically at E3. They are having a pre-show event but no press conference. EA using the time to pump the new Star Wars game is the only thing I would count on.

I'll be there for Jedi Fallen Order. It sounds like the game writer not only has a great resume (KOTOR2 for one), but has a strong working knowledge of pre-2012 Star Wars, and actually is willing to speak up about it. Sold.

It's pretty sad because at its core, Anthem is actually really fun. I actually feel like I got my money's worth out of it before getting frustrated with the replay-ability and bad decisions. It could have been so much better though.

Yup the gameplay was unreal fun but after 25 hours the content was so repetitive it was disgusting. The fact they didnt learn anything from other live service games like I dunno Destiny is a joke and shows how blatantly they ignored the warning signs and not delaying or adding more content was sad. My thesis on why they never took the easy fix with the loot and just opening up the loot rivers was because they didnt have alot of loot to let flow.

Some articles came out and said that management wouldn't allow developers to say the D-word(s) during development (Destiny, Diablo, or Division). Which to one point I understand that you want to make something new or different, but there are some fundamental things these games solved that work.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I agree. They have systems in place that work, and can potentially keep any game you create from being long lasting if you don't mimic or improve upon them.
For instance, while there is still plenty of loading in Destiny 2, it's hidden in the "moving" load screen that makes you feel like you're flying to your destination, as well as the ability to actually open up other menus while the loading goes on in the background.
So many other systems that are quality of life type systems those other games do so well that Anthem did not have and suffered for their absence.

They built a great foundation but forgot the walls and the furniture to the house unfortunately. The gameplay is great similar to the amazing gun play in destiny but unfortunately they didnt create enough content at the minimum you need for a looter shooter

I really enjoyed the demo before release until after I realized pretty much everything in the demo was what was going to be in the game at launch. In hindsight, me canceling my preorder was the right call, but man that game could have been awesome.

I just want more info on Total War: Warhammer III to see if they'll add Chaos Deamons and if I can split them based on their patron god or have Chaos Undivided, they'll add Ogres but that was a given.
Also, where's Necromunda? There was supposed to be information about it last year but got nothing and worried if it was dropped for other projects because there's supposed to be three new Warhammer games announced this year with one being 40K, one Fantasy, and the other Age of Sigmar.

I dont understand why they don't just make ther game with zero likenesses. Let the fans do that like they do today. Just randomize every one and laugh at the occasional Jared Lorenzen size QBs. Dont use the right numbers, dont do anything with player likeness.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That would really eliminate EAs ability to set up the Ultimate Team mode that has been extremely lucrative for them in their other sports games. I'm also not sure consumers would get behind it.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
They can still do Ultimate Team with random players in the regular game. NCAA14 was the first one to use Ultimate Team and it only included players that had been in the NFL or were out of college and could be paid for their likeness.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Hokiemacho mentioned not being able to use Ultimate Team in the college game as potentially being a reason EA might not pursue more NCAAF games. I am just pointing out that NCAA14 did have Ultimate Team, but the way around dealing with college player likeness was to only use players that had already graduated. You still played as whichever college you wanted to, but with these NFL/graduated players.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That's a terrible model if you are trying to get people use micro transactions for Ultimate Team. Making college uniforms a free DLC pack for Madden 20 would be more appealing than generic players in a NCAA football game.

I'm interested in how Sony is going to handle E3 week. They already did the Death Stranding trailer. Word on the street is Last of Us 2 might be this week leading into it.
Looking forward to new Cyberpunk gameplay and information. CD Projekt won me with Witcher 3.
Also curious for the reveal of the Xbox new hardware, and the hoping to see what people will be talking about long after E3 is over. What announcement, footage, conference, booth, or behind closed doors thing will be the buzz.
I think someone above said it...if NCAA Football returns, gamers everywhere might rejoice.

This is a general question about WItcher 3, just because you brought it up.
I bought 3 after playing 2, and did about half of an early mission. How different is it from Witcher 2? I liked Witcher 2 okay, but hated the combat. I can never remember spell combos because I don't play every day, and the rest seems just like button mashing.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
With Witcher 3, they revamped the combat a bit. I am there with you that 2 was clunky, even more so on the keyboard/mouse system. With 3, I never really felt hindered by the combat system. You could dodge, attack, switch swords on the fly, and there was a way to switch abilities up mid-combat. The enemies could be tough, but not overwhelmingly so where you felt lucky just to win. My toughest fights were the boxing matches that occur at different points because the system was a bit different.
Pretty much all of the side quests were fully fleshed out stories, many of which interacted with the main story in certain ways. If you did some things before others, they were mentioned within other NPC interactions. I can't think of another game in the RPG/Action/Adventure category that wasn't a "games as a service" model in which I've spent so much time; not just completing quests, but feeling like you're a part of the world.
It also has one of the best games within the game I've ever played. People liked it so much, they made a separate game of it, and an actual card game based on it.
The other thing I enjoyed about it was that crafting actually mattered. It wasn't just a "craft this to hold you over until you get a better drop". You had to hunt down the recipes and gather the materials, and it was totally worth it, unlike so many other games.
I highly recommend going back to do more than "about half of an early mission". The quality of the game speaks for itself, and CD Projekt did a whole bunch of free DLC content for it the first several months post release (not the actual expansions, those weren't free". I think between the main campaign and the follow up paid expansions, I spent about 100 bucks, and about 500-600 hours of play time. No complaints from me.

Thanks, you've convinced me to give it another go. I didn't really pay attention to the combat tutorials. I guess I should start over there and figure it out. Sounds like it's worth it.

I didn't play Witcher 2, but for me the fun of W3 was its story more than anything. The background/lore and how everything fits together is really well done and decisions you make have direct consequences in a lot of cases.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Witcher 3 is still in my top 2 games of all time, with RDR being the other. I've played through it at least 6 times, and my most recent play through I have 90+ hours. As mentioned above, for an open world game it has the best sense of immersion and letting you know your choices have an effect. There are so many paths that change and some consistent story moments that are just a joy to play through
The combat is much smoother than Witcher 2, but still very tactical and requires a good deal more of patience than most any other action game. What I liked about it is that even though Geralt has superhuman powers, he is not an invincible killing machine and you have to approach situations accordingly. Gave some real weight to the fights
As you said, if you love stories, you HAVE to play through W3. Some of the side quests are better tales than full games actual main story.
The Hearts of Stone expansion is a full games worth of content in its own right, and an amazing story. Blood and Wine had a huge new area to adventure in. You can probably get both of them for $5 these days
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Loved the Witcher 3 too. I didn't almost every side quest before finishing the main story.
I haven't been able to get back into the game for the dlcs though, even though I bought em. It's just.... The combat isn't that great, and it's kind of a chore to get back into the rhythm of it, with how mediocre it is in the first place.

I mainly want to hear more about Outer Worlds. Having some of the creators of Fallout and being made by the developers of Fallout New Vegas and KOTOR 2 it could be great.

That's the thing Zelda never really puts out sequels just new Zelda games with their own look and feel. Mario is the same way but the look stays the same.

If a Majora's Mask sequel is announced I would be very happy, using the open world like BoTW with the messed up setting/atmosphere of Majora's Mask would be awesome.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Most of the rumors I've seen seem to indicate that we will get a zelda game developed similarly to how MM was following OoT. Reusing a lot of assets from BotW but with some game play mechanics that are either more experimental or that couldn't be fully implemented in time for release.
I would love to see a take on the dark world or twilight realm adjacent to BotWs hyrule with some interesting new mechanics and maybe some full dungeons. Or something utilizing the season mechanic from OoS, that could be amazing on the BotW engine

I was about to ask who was saying about the information for LoZ, but read your comment again seeing rumors. Hope that's not taking it the wrong way, not asking "where are your sources?" more of where was it because I want to see it also excitement.
I thought that Twilite Princess wasn't bad, but personally don't want to see much of that because it seemed edgy to me, while MM was awesome in the messed up department where it wasn't edgy.
I do wonder about the Link's Awakening remake what changes there will be going from the old brick Gameboy to the Switch.

I'm the opposite of a hardcore gamer....wanted to play a mindless shooter last night and all I had installed was Fortnite. I played for like an hour and 9/10 times before I could even take a shot the other person had built a legitimate mansion around me just to open the garage and one shot me.
I wasn't a big fan of PUGB, I've heard decent things about Apex? I really need that new COD to come out I haven't enjoyed a multiplayer shooter in a long time.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
So, when it comes to BRs, PUBG is your realism sim, Fortnite is the far opposite with a premium on building, Apex tends to be the middle ground and focuses on individual movement in fights.
Any BR will have the issue that if you land hot, someone will likely be a better shot than you and dome you. Apex has been fun this week especially with the release of the new event & challenges.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I installed it last night so I'll give it a shot and likely suck at it this evening. To me PUGB was okay but the actual physical gameplay controls didn't feel responsive.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I had a similar experience. I played PUBG but it always felt clunky to jump, get in and out of prone, actually hit what I wanted to shoot at, etc.
I've had a real good time with Apex as it caters more to an FPS player and I enjoy some of the class based aspects. Give Lifeline or Bangalore a try tonight! Both super strong and easy to play. Enjoy!
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
This is the kind of mindless BR game I can get behind. Aiming makes sense the controls are natural to any FPS and people aren't building me houses to die in.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
PUBG is clunky because it's trying to be realistic. You're not going to be bunny hopping and diving into the ground while getting up extremely quickly in real life. Especially when you have 100 lb of guns, ammo, armor, etc on you. Going from a modern FPS to a realistic shooter is going to take some adjusting since they aren't just raycasting the bullets. They're actual objects in game that react to gravity and depending on the game wind or the Coriolis effect.
For maps that big, laser projectiles don't work very well, unless they're actual lasers.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I understand what it's aiming for. I play ARMA 3 as well so I know what it is trying for, but I just think there are so many easy wins to make PUBG's interface a little more seamless. There are tons of animation lock, a clunky as hell inventory screen, a very opaque ammo system if you aren't a gun fanatic.
The reason I like Apex is that it focuses on firefights and movement, still keeps real world things like bullet drop, and ammo type, while making it accessible to everyone (color coded ammo types, scopes that gives you accurate readouts on distance so you can make shots accounting for bullet drop, etc.).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The inventory screen is something that no BR has figured out at least console wise.
I haven't stopped playing Apex with my rainy day off work.
My two complaints are not automatically picking up the ammo type for the guns I have equipped and having to press A on the inventory wheels (xbox). I should be able to just release the selector to use the item.
That being said it does a much better job console wise than fortnite which just put all your items into one menu to cycle through. At least my two weapons I can get between without going through items and grenades.

I'm so happy Bungie have finally rid themselves of the ass hats at Activision because the future view for destiny looks so much better now. Looking like D3 talks may die off and now D2 is gonna go FTP, as someone who has defended Bungie and destiny for so long it's such a beautiful day to feel rewarded finally

What are TKPs thoughts on Stadia? I feel that removing the hardware barrier and making it accessible on a number of devices running from the cloud really is the future of gaming. I still have some doubts but if any company can pull off the technology side of things it is Google. I am considering preordering the founders edition ($130), worst case I try it out for 3 months but still have a new Chromecast Ultra.

I told a friend about 10 years ago, consoles were going to go the way of the Dodo because streaming games directly is where the technology is going. I don't like that, even with the subscription, you're still paying for individual games to be played over the Internet (so you don't really own a copy). Additionally, unless you're in a biggish city or college town, you're going to get choppy game playing because most places still have only 25 MB max service.
However, I'd say the next generation of consoles is probably the last, unless the consoles have additional features (PS Vue, ESPN+, other functionalities).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
There are already a few companies who offer streaming gaming and it works really well for just having to spend less than $100 and then $10-15 a month to play anything at 60 fps and 1080p. Kind of an interesting option if you travel around a lot.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'm pretty skeptical. I expect it will be at least moderately limited in the games available and without a stellar internet connection there's going to be enough lag and latency that it kills the experience.

Microsoft game pass ultimate is on sale for $1. So if you purchase it, it will convert all your remaining months of Xbox live gold to game pass ultimate.
Heads up the game pass is a recurring payment of $14.99 but you won't pay for the next month until your original Xbox live gold was set to expire. And you can turn off recurring payments. So I have game pass ultimate until November of 2020 for $1.
Update, looks like the conversion isn't that great of a deal, if I'm reading it right. You get converted at a rate of 1 month of Gold to 20 days of Ultimate, so if you have a whole year of Gold, the way I read it is you only get 4 months of Ultimate for $1, which is what you'd get anyway for upgrading.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Not sure what you're reading to give this impression. I renewed my annual subscription in May, paid $1 for ultimate, and got upgraded to ultimate through June 2020.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Any existing Xbox live gold/game pass converts in a 1:1 ratio to ultimate. So if you've got 6 months of live and 3 months of game pass, you'll get 9 months of ultimate. However, after you upgrade to ultimate, any Xbox live or game pass codes you redeem will have a conversion factor applied to it.
So basically whatever you have now will be converted to ultimate but anything after that will have a conversion factor.
You can always cancel ultimate and redeem Xbox live codes though if you wanted to go back and not have the conversion factor applied to it but they likely won't allow you to do a 1:1 upgrade to ultimate in the future.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Good to know, I wasn't aware of the conversion rate going forward, thanks!
I still don't think it applies to the OP in the way they think it does. Should still be able to add time to your gold subscription now before upgrading to Ultimate and get the 1:1 upgrade.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Agreed. The conversion factors come into play after you upgrade but I think OP was mixing them together.
It seems like eventually they'll get rid of the 1:1 conversion, so I would stack up and convert sooner than later (for anyone that hasn't and is interested). Max is 36 months and 12 months of Xbox live is the cheapest to buy to use for converting.

They will probably fully unveil the console at E3 2020.
I will say, Microsoft missed a little opportunity with Sony absent. They seemed to sway too far the other direction. They pulled a Sony from 2 years ago. "You like games? We got games. Here's about 70 of them."
They had the Cyberpunk 2077 Keanu reveal, but everything else I was pretty 'meh' about, and you can tell the crowd was, too. Over half of their "moments they expected an applause" were things we pretty much already knew. Most of the stuff to be a little excited about was "coming holiday 2020".
Bethesda had some good looking new IPs which it seemed more people were excited about.
I'm hoping Sony does a surprise stream of some kind this week to answer Microsoft because their absence is a big miss to me if they don't do SOMETHING.

I have it for xboxone. It is a lot of fun but can be pretty tough at times. Some of the bosses are not bad but some you will need to die a lot to learn their attacks. Im assuming it is the same for switch.

I've been playing it in short bursts on the Switch. It's a pretty damn hard game, but the difficulty always seems fair. I'm about halfway done with it and I have to say I think it's one of the best indie games out on the Switch right now. Would definitely recommend.

I am addicted. It's a dinner dose of nostalgia. The Merry Melodies retro cartoon style is right out of my childhood, v and it's probably the best insanely difficult side scroller I've ever played. You will die a lot, but it's isn't frustrating like Dark Souls because the levels are all about 2 minutes from start to finish and you hop immediately back in on a failure.
I'd say it's a must buy.

Thanks for the input all. Downloaded it while it was on sale and used some gold Nintendo points on top of that. Died like 5 times on the first boss on simple. Found out you dont get credit unless you beat the boss on regular. Played again at regular and beat him the first try. Color me addicted.

I finished playing Rime last night after it was free on the Epic store a few weeks ago.
I have been really busy with projects of various types have haven't played any games in probably two months before this. It was a fun little adventure game with engaging music and graphics and a decent story. It wasn't terribly difficult, but it kept me engaged to the end. If you are looking for something lighthearted that won't eat up a bunch of your time, you should give it a try.

If anyone is looking for a solo player RPG fix, I have been loving Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.
I am convinced that CD Projekt Red just can't make a bad game right now. This one really took me by surprise even though I am a huge Witcher fan.
They basically took the Gwent game from witcher 3, revamped and expanded the mechanics, and turned it into the basis of an excellent RPG with Witcher 3 level voice acting, characters, story and side quests. It's on sale right now through E3

RE: Fallen Order. That game just seems to need more time to cook. Watching the demo it seemed like they were moving from set piece, through open space, to set piece. I get it is an E3 demo, but if the game isn't a bit more dynamic, it's going to feel really flat.

It's not that I'm looking for them to look like their MCU counter parts (Spider-Man, for example, looks great!)... They just, to me, look bad. They look bloated, and they also look like late PS3 models or something. It's weird.
I'm... Going to hold out hope... For when we see some actual gameplay footage

Not exactly. The character designs and movement seem off a bit, and people are upset certain Avengers apparently didn't make the cut (at least at first). Me, personally, it's not that they don't look like the movie actors, it's that they look like cheap knockoffs of a B-movie Avengers movie. Like the 1994 Fantastic Four movie. Hard to immerse yourself in a world with poor character design.
Granted, there is still plenty of time to go back and work on the model while keeping everything else the same.

So, I've been watching this gameplay video for Final Fantasy VII Remake and I have to say that I'm impressed. Combat looks like they're intentionally going away from pressing the same button over and over and hacking and slashing your way to victory. The voice acting sounds pretty spot on too. I went from being mildly curious about this game to on board the hype train.

I can't wait!!! I have loved Final Fantasy VII since I played it for two weeks straight while I was home sick with pneumonia in middle school. I have anxiously awaited a release date since they first announced the project what seems like four years ago. It is finally happening and I am excited!

NSFW, but honestly, this embodied my reaction when I seen the trailer:

LOL That's fantastic. So I believe in one of these gaming threads FFVII Remake came up and I said something like "I just want to fully explore Midgar" and it seems like that's exactly what they're doing. The emphasis of expanding the world and characters and really fleshing out this game has me pretty excited.

I don't think anyone brought it up, but Destiny 2 is moving to a Free to Download model in September where you can buy any XPac you want without having to own previous content. They also announced cross save so you can use one account to play on PC, Xbox, PS, and recently announced Stadia. They also announced we are going to the moon, adding nightmares of old bosses, and I will officially be referring to the XPac as spooky castle.
This is all very good. I reinstalled yesterday after a month break and I'm having fun again.

Finally getting back into Destiny 2 and I've hit a wall of insane information overload so I'm bringing up my warlock character who still needed to do the forsaken and osiris story line before I get into the current season stuff so I can get back into the swing. Any suggestions or tips for whats best to chase after I havent done any of the black armory stuff either.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Just take your time, there's a ton of stuff to do. I recommend doing the Black Armory stuff because you can forge some really good weapons. If Gambit isn't your thing, this season dropped power surge bounties to quickly get you up and running to this seasons entry power level. You can pick them up from Werner on the big barge on Nessus in Watchers Grave. There's so much to do it's easy to get overwhelmed even for someone like me that has two characters at max level for this season already. Just take your time and enjoy the grind!
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
It's been a few months since I've played but if you want to level up fast there is a way to power level to 650 in an hour or two. I think you need the annual pass for that. Otherwise, going through the story mode missions is the best way to level up. Once you've done that, there are bounties and weekly/daily events.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Got the annual pass sinceI'm diving back in and it was on 15$ but my characters are all level 30 so I've gotta get them to 50 before I can do the quick power level stuff with werner. Guess I'll look into the black armory today and watch some videos to see what I can get out of all the stuff and chase what most interests me. The chalice stuff makes no sense so fr so I'll probably go mess with gambit and black armory since I love gambit just need some good guns since my current ones all suck and are way underpowered.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
If you are interested in the campaign mode, finishing curse of osiris and forsaken should take you almost all the way from 30 to 50. I wish I stuck with Destiny 2. The pass was $35 when I had it and I didnt feel like spending that when I could just get a new game.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yup thats what I"m doing by going through forsaken and playing some strikes and gambit to level up in one afternoon im up to 41 easy doing bounties as well. Loving it as always just gotta get to 50 for it to open up again and get some good guns.

Make sure you buy some Fireteam Medallions from Tess in the tower to help with the leveling and equip an exotic ghost shell with a "guiding light" perk if you have access to one in your inventory or collections.

I'm seeing this late, but once you power through CoO & Warmind, enjoy the hell out of Forsaken. It really is a treat.
As far as current content, Black Armory had some really cool exotics. Forges were fun.
If you find Gambit to your liking, Gambit Prime is just a better version.
When you hit Opulence, there are power surge bounties that will take you 30 minutes and you will get a bunch of blues that are 690 light so don't bother with a light grind. Hit that first. The new Menagerie activity is pretty fun. Find a clan to play with for sure.
In terms of raids:
Vanilla - Leviathan - Full length raid. Loot is irrelevant but cool. Can drop catalysts. 7/10
CoO - Eater of Worlds - Quick raid. Loot is essentially irrelevant at this point. Can drop catalysts. 5/10
Warmind - Spire of Stars - Pain in the ass raid. Quick but is a lot more "puzzley" in its approach to raiding and not enough shooting big bosses. - 2/10
Forsaken - Last Wish - Massive length raid. A ton of fun & gear that still drops powerful. 1K Voices as an exotic heavy. Lot's of fun. Learn how to cheese the last boss. 9/10.
Black Armory - Scourge of the Past - Some neat tricks. Most encounters require a fair bit of coordination. Can be done extremely fast (less than 30 mins with a good group). Good loot. 6/10
Gambler - No new raids. 0/10
Opulence - Running on Tuesday. Will update if needed. ?/10

Crown of Sorrows is great but I think Last Wish has to be one of my all time favorites. I just can't stop running it on at least a guardian or two every week.

I'm looking forward to it. I intentionally stepped away from the season launch because I killed the last few b pushing for day 1 raid clears and it just burnt be out. I'm loving the "bad luck protection" that the chalice has afforded and am really excited to see if this is a flash in the pan or Bungie deepening the RPG aspects of the looter shooter.
EDIT: Really interesting raid mechanically. Our group was 4 people with clears, 2 (including myself) without. We two shot every encounter up until THICC DADDI at the end. It is a surprisingly short raid, but has some fun mechanics. I like a lot of the call backs to Leviathan and how everyone has to know their shit or the raid goes to hell in the ascendant plane real quick. By the same token, my raid buddy kept dying to the deception which is infuriating. One member can absolutely torpedo the raid if they can't handle a mechanic.

Judging by the E3 and the discussion since makes me feel this is something thats doing so well they will start doing similar stuff in the future the stuff coming out from bungie employees leans me to feel that way atleast. The whole leaving activision and going FTP plus not working on a D3 and instead building on D2 makes me feel they know what they want to do and makes me comfortable with them.

Keep in mind, this has been the Destiny cycle. A big fall release that is critically acclaimed, followed by a bit of a downturn in content for the winter/early spring with a strong summer hold over then a big fall content drop.
We've gone through Mod and Weapon 2.0, exotic 2.0, and now armor 2.0 is on the table for the fall. Bungie, which I am happy with at the moment, knows how to manipulate money out of their audience. That is not always a bad thing, I think they are making good game design and business decisions at the moment, but if the bottom line starts to hurt, I could see quality & experience deteriorate quickly.

Yup as a MMORPG nut I know how they all go in content cycles but my love for the destiny world is vicious and when I get the itch I gotta scratch it. At the moment I rotate between MMO's and a few RPGs inbetween. ESO has its big drops in the summer and Destiny in the fall and then winter and spring are spent bouncing between them and the odd sports game.
I had forgotten about the mods 2.0 and other stuff I need to look into those changes I havent played since those went live. I got alot of brushing up to do and research to put in.

Glad to hear its a good one I havent run any raids since the first one in D2 after doing all the raids in D1 I loved the one with the nutty mechanics over stupid sponges so I'll have to start raiding again once I'm level 50.
Finished Forsaken last night and man thats a fun campaign sucks my favorite robot bit the dust but life must go on. Gonna start on the black armory first then work on some gambit prime I think

I replayed Portal with the Games for Gold, and it was the perfect reminder of how great Portal 2 was. Picked it up used and working my way through again, with some co-op with the daughter. It's fantastic with the gestures and ability to drop indicators to show her where to place her portals.
Let's see a Portal 3!!!

I played Division 2 over the weekend since it was free. I am on the fence about buying. I typically like shoot and loot games but the diving for cover seemed clunky and the enemies even early in the game were bullet sponges. Does this get better as you level up or is this just how the game is?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Just my experience so take it with a whole shaker of salt: The game was fun at release. Destiny 2 and Anthem were both falling flat. The looter shooter had a bit of a vacuum. Leveling felt good. There were all kinds of secrets and caches and the story was fun to progress to. There came a point where I realized that once the story ran out, the 3rd person was going to drive me insane. Opponents noticeably became spongier at the end game & play around gadget cool downs really slowed down the flow of combat from the former run, gun, and roll into cover. Activities became less soloable so I would find myself doing fairly mundane fetch quests until I could get some friends online. I never even made it to the raid. I have a good buddy on the dev team for TD2 but I really just found it lacking once the polish wore off.
If you really dive into everything that's there, you may get more mileage. I didn't really explore the dark zones and pvp. Just wasn't my cup of tea but I just found it a little bare.

Thanks. Im not really into most pvp modes. I played crucible and gambit in destiny 2 just to get the legendary engrams so I would probably only be interested in the story mode. How long did the story mode take you?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
~20 hours. The bulk of it heavily weighted towards somewhat frustrating things at level cap. If you ever want to see or get a rough estimate on how long you'll be on something check out https://howlongtobeat.com/.

NBA 2K19 is $3 right now. So if you're into those games, that's a pretty sweet deal. And if you need a new dualshock4 controller like I did from beating mine up playing Destiny and Titanfall 2, they are on sale for $40 instead of the usual $60 at most major retailers.

Looks like I missed out on the instant power level up stuff so I managed to get to 663 last night on blues and legendary drops but its a slow grind up to 690. I was able to bring over my guns from my 690 titan so I have those atleast to help but getting gear leveled up is fun. Gonna focus on gambit and black armory to get some better guns the blue 690 ones suck
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Make sure you pick up the pulse rifle (Blast Furnace) and the machine gun (Hammerhead) from Black armory if possible! They're both extremely relevant in this meta and two of my most used legendary's.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Also grind for a good PvP roll on the Kindled Orchid hand cannon to help with the Thorn quest down the road.
Menagerie has a godly hand cannon as well in the Austringer. Right now my loadout almost always features Austringer/Outbreak Perfected, with Loaded Question (best secondary weapon for PvE hands down), and Hammerhead/Thunderlord.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Blast Furnace and Hammerhead would be priority since you can only grab two BA per week. With a bit of grind, Austringer is a great gun. I still prefer Warden's Law. Lord of Wolves is dummy broken in your 2 slot but Loaded Question is a great option too.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I almost exclusively use Austringer in my primary and Recluse/Beloved in my secondary depending on the map. Been having really good results with it and it's super fun to use. Almost feels like D1 days.

You guys are awesome I went into crucible to go at it and got absolutely shit on by everyone my old setup is no more. Gone are the days of my 5 shot pulse rifle and my uriels gift meta. I'll look into doing the blast furnace and the other quests first to get some good legendary guns.
Also while grinding power levels do I need to have my highest light leveled stuff currently equipped to get higher stuff or if I use slightly lower light guns instead of my blue 690s? Those blues suck and I would dearly love to mix it up from them but dont want to slow the grind down either though. I remember once being able to just have it in your inventory and it would count when powerful gear and stuff drops

Gone are the days of my 5 shot pulse rifle and my uriels gift meta
They've been gone since shortly after launch.
I recommend finding a pulse rifle (Blast Furnace is useable) in the primary and something punch at close range for the energy slot (a lot of shotties fit the bill here, look for high range aggressive archetypes). Hand cannons are wildly popular on PC.
Also while grinding power levels do I need to have my highest light leveled stuff currently equipped to get higher stuff or if I use slightly lower light guns instead of my blue 690s?
Drop power is determined by what is in your inventory, not by what is equipped. Hate that 680 side arm but love your 663 auto rifle? Just keep the side arm in your inventory or infuse it to your preferred weapon.
Also, avoid Iron Banner. It is light level dependent now so if you are below 700 light, you are paper shooting marshmellows.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sweeeetttt I can finally drop those crappy blues I still thought I had to keep them equipped. I also jumped in Iron banner when I was about 420 LL and my crit hits were doing 6 damage and I was like what is this? Still got a few kills but they mustve loved it cause I was a one hit and done.
Gonna work on outbreak prime it looks alot like a thorn perk wise. Still gotta go after ace of spades and thorn as well. Gods I loved the thorn in PVP in D1 but trying to get those exotic bounties to drop was RNG agony.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Uhmmm, there are precise ways to start the exotic quests. For Thorn and AoS. Outbreak prime will require LL around 700 for you to complete the final activity. And a 3 person fire team. If you are on PC I can help.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'll have to hold on the outbreak for now then was reading up on it hate that its timed but oh well. I remember the grind for the D1 thorn being an absolute pain or thorn in my side. I'm on Xbox but once it goes crossave I may move to PC the game looks like it runs so much better on PC than on consoles my one x is even slow with it. If anyones on Xbox my gt is Titilywink

Eagle posted earlier up he is on Xbox as DredgenMoore. Thorn was a lot of PvP work but wasn't horrific. If I remember right, the Ace of Spades was a lot harder/time consuming due to the competitive requirements.
DredgenMoore on Xbox. Will be pretty busy this week with Iron Banner quest/New Menagerie quest/ finishing up Cursebreaker title. I can get you in my clan for some extra pieces of powerful gear each week for now if you'd like.

Sweet I'll let you know I'm in a guild with all my friends atm but theyre all inactive so I may take the invite. Got to 676 LL tonight and got the hammerhead as well working on unlocking the next few forges until I hit 690 atleast. Got two armor pieces holding me back at 650 each come on RNG
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Would if I could but its glitched because for whatever reason picking that invitation quest up before youre level 50 makes it make you go straight to the menagerie zone and finish it before you get the powerful reward engram. Finished the forsaken and everything I need to and still no blues. Must be some quest I've never done I dont see or something
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I picked up everything he had to offer accept the prime bounties that I had no hope of finishing solo but otherwise I cleaned him out, which quests should I be looking for from him?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I leveled to 720 without any raids or nightfalls on my 'lock. I don't know what expansions or anything that you may have but, The Drifter had "helper" quests to boost your xp at one point. I'm guessing you have already done those. Honestly I got all of my higher drops from doing the daily strikes and gambit primes that drop the strongest gear.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Huh guess I have I'm gonna look through my quest log and see if anything stands out. Still trying to figure out what all the new stuff means even. In 3 days I managed to go from 340 to 676 so its not too bad hopefully I can get to 700 by saturday so I can do a little iron banner.

Cannot wait for that so I can play on my PC when I want to having a nice gaming PC but not many people to play Destiny with has kept me from going that way for now.

It's your new Whisper of the Worm. 6 man fireteams running it can melt bosses. It is often preferred over heavy weapon damage. Make sure you bring friends with you for zero hour, it's a pain to complete solo.

Finally figuring out what to do in Destiny 2 now got my warlock up to 718 LL and finished the black armory main story and now working on inzahgis Burden quest and the outbreak prime quest. Man the grind is way more forgiving and enjoyable nowadays than it once was. Pulled the chest cheat in menagerie to load up on some decent rolls but nothing has been better than my blast furnace and hammerhead. Been struggling to find a good exotic that fits the roll but really getting close with outbreak prime. Finally got where I can make it all the way through no biggie up to the final boss fight but thats always too brutal for the limited time.
Ventured into the shattered crown dungeon got halfway through without realizing it was no checkpoints then got cocky and sniped by some damned hobgoblins and then realized its not a solo activity at my light level so I'll be putting the inzahgis burden quest off for a few weeks. Any tips on the outbreak prime quest and getting to the boss fight with enough time to complete it. I know the fastest route now just doing the damage quick enough is a bitch,.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Bring a couple friends, and make sure you have all your energy weapons to break shields easy (arc, void, and solar) covered. A tether helps, but isn't entirely necessary as the shield break with the appropriate energy weapon causes a chain reaction that clears the groups of enemies in the final chamber.
If you have Arbalest, it breaks shields regardless of energy and makes them weak to kinetic energy, but doesn't have the same effect of causing the chain reaction. Makes it good for the first part, not so great for the final room.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Thats what we were doing we were all in the 715 LL range and we spread out the elemental so we had all bases covered each but in the end we just didnt have the damage to make stuff go down quick enough. Going to look into trying to hunt down the arbalest while I'm also farming the forges for a jotunn as well. Gotta get some better guns to help my damage output. Also really need a fusion rifle worth a hoot to help as well. Are raids still the best source for exotics I havent done any raids yet mainly focused on black armory so far since getting back into it.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I haven't found a "best source" for exotics. I've gotten them from completing strikes, nightfalls, crucible, gambit, bounties, heroic adventures, anything that provides a "powerful" reward.
I recommend running the token that increases chances for drops if you're playing longer than an hour at a time. They're 50 bright dust from Eververse, but show a significant enough increase in drops by my data that I constantly run it.
Where do you find your hangups? At the beginning or at the end? Skip the first hallway altogether. It's not gated until you get to the room where the Speaker used to be. I ran Le Monarq which is a forge drop (it's dropped a lot from Gofannon, Izanami, and Bergusia forges, to start for it's additional splash damage and lack of drop off over distances. It helps take out the captains pretty quickly, and all the tracer shanks that do a lot of damage to you.
For the boss room, a good roll of a void machine gun or Thunderlord works wonders. Focus on the turrets first as they rip through you pretty quickly. Get some hits on the boss while clearing adds. Kill Big Servitor and Shanks around it. If you get hits with the appropriate energy while they are still close together, the shanks should die pretty quickly. Repeat for the back of the room.
When the tanks drop, have one person continue to work on the boss a bit while also working on smaller adds while the other two focus on one tank. Then play avoidance and work on the boss. If the two people can get the tank down pretty quickly, have them do the other, too, while the third continues working on the boss. This is where machine guns work well. It's constant damage, but you can stop and restart when he blinks. Fusion rifles (except Jotunn), grenade launchers, and rocket launchers miss too often.

Thanks for the tip on the exotics buff I was saving my bright dust for exotic ghost shells and speeders.
On the outbreak prime mission its just getting through it fast enough which feels like its gotta be the amount of damage we do isnt enough. My guess is we arent killing the stuff in the first half fast enough to get to the boss fight with 6-7 minutes like you need. We run the maze between flawlessly now and as fast as we can but getting past the walker with 16 minutes to go isnt something we seem to be able to do so im guessing higher level = more power = faster TTK which gives us those precious 2-3 minutes we need on the end of the runs. I'm going to look at some videos on other routes incase we arent running the fastest route in the middle. I really need the ikelos shotty and the arbalest would be good or a good elemental fusion rifle. I used the trinity ghoul bow and its good for chainging arc damage but then its up to my heavy for the other shields
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Loaded Question is an amazing option for fusion rifles. Not ideal for this particular boss dps, but for clearing ads there's almost nothing better in the game.
Side note: my group just 4 manned the Riven fight last night for the first completion for all of us, and 3 of us got 1k Voices. Did they buff drop rates or did we just get really lucky?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Damn I've heard the grind for 1k voices is brutal. Think I'm going to start dipping into the raids this upcoming week do the matchmaking queues work still for them or do we still gotta LFG it?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
LFG. And I hate that scene to be honest... I have like a 10% chance of finding non-assholes through LFG it seems. Ive heard you can 3 man the newest raid so I'm going to look into that soon. For that matter if you're on ps4 you can add "Rabuddhafrid" and we can get you into the group for those runs in the future. That goes for anyone here. One or two of you may be on my list already but I've forgotten who's who.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Its a lonely world on Xbox Ive had good luck finding groups in game just inviting people and what not that way but I'll agree LFG is shit sometimes especially with the new hand cannon everyone wants to fuck off in gambit for it now which is dumb. That said i FINALLY after grinding a shit load after curse of osiris and alot since I came back I finally dropped the Ikelos shotgun at 724 and its beautiful. It feels so good when the grind pays off finally on my last EP run of the night after a dirty tease on one run earlier where the final boss dropped a legendary engram and I almost shit my pants only for it to be a masterwork shit bad news roll I wanted to scream but stuck in there and got it. EP is so much fun when theres a bunch of people running it like there are now I was hopping around mars all night group to group just landing on the two zones catching teams half way through to level 7 all night.

I'm on PS4 usually (I have it on Xbox and PC as well) and around 735 light now on my 'lock. I'm down to run most anything if I have the time. I'm usually on for a few hours after work every day. I'm looking to get this new Lumina quest done. Anyone on here can add me as well. Just let me know you're from TKP so I don't instantly delete. I'm a Blacksburg local as well.

I found an 29" ultrawide monitor at Goodwill and I am going back to play a bunch of stuff I haven't played in a while. How did I go so long with my old, small 19" 16x10 monitors? Time to spend a few days modding Skyrim again...
The work space is really nice as well.

Yeah, me neither. Then again, I was never really interested in it and it had a really rocky start. I just assumed it was limping it's way to the grave. Plus, I don't know if it's just me, but the game seems pretty low key compared to all the others.

To give context, Destiny 2 had a fairly lackluster launch and first year of xpacs. Curse of Osiris (1st dlc) was a massive flop and turned public opinion to destiny is gonna die. Warmind was the third and while fun, didn't have the depth needed. Both dlc had raid lairs, not full raids, leading to a fairly small pool of end game activities. Lack of full raids, a stagnant PvP scene, and fixed rolls lead to no reason to play past the power grind.
Enter forsaken, the year two dlc. Add random rolls (a random trait for each of the weapon or armor's 4 slots), dlc specific pinnacle grinds for strikes, pvp, and the new activity gambit, a beautiful raid, hidden exotic quests like whisper of the worm, and a refreshed nightfall system. This all adds to one of the better and emotionally charged campaigns in a while. Forsaken was the turn that destiny needed. They also launched a season pass for their minor DLCs, Black armory, drifter, and opulence. The first two introduced some new activities, BA had a raid, and there was some burn out in the fan base. Then Opulence hit after news that Bungie split with Activision. There are tons of improvements that folks called for, a new raid deeply tied to lore and future implications, and a renewed focus on rpg mechanics. The game is the best it has ever been and nearly announced it will be free to play come Sept 17 and new players can choose what dlc they want to purchase. All year 1 dlc is free. This lets folks choose if they want certain activities like black armory forges or gambit prime and what guns they want to chase as exotics. If nothing else, give it a look in Sept.

If anyone is D2 on Xbox, I still need to do the Leviathan raid because my fire team all disbanded when the initial release sucked, never mattered and just did solo activities but now it is necessary for Menagerie. Gunner1515
I have been debating for a week of dropping into the hellhole that is LFG.

Maybe we can pull 6 together and schedule it ahead of time. Some terrible people through LFG on raids are some of my worst memories from D1. Getting a group of fun / nice people even though it may have taken longer were some of my favorite.

Lemme know when yall wanna run raids im on Xbox and would love to run the raids with a good group. I've run leviathan a bunch as well. GT Titilywink ill run pvp strikes anything im down

While not on Xbox, for everything but PVP, I've had decent luck with LFG from both destinylfg.net and Bungie's "Find Fireteam" function.
It's how I finally did Last Wish before the end of the Season of the Drifter as well as every other raid I've done in the history of D2 and D1, how I've done Heroic Menagerie, and done countless nightfalls. PvP is another thing altogether. Ask for help and get people who couldn't find their way out of a wet paper bag, and rage quit after losing one game.

If anyone in XBox is looking for a fun F2P game that is a break from battle royale, I have really been enjoying Dauntless over the last month.
Kind of a Monster Hunter lite type, but a hell of a lot of fun when grouping with people you know. I haven't spent a dime on it and don't feel that it's really necessary unless you want cosmetics

Cape is Iron Banner w/ Lady Efrideet's Mantle Ornament
Helm is the Wormhusk Exotic from Warmind
Arms are from Scourge of the Past raid
Chest is from Black Armory drops
Legs are from Scourge of the Past raid (I think, looks a lot like the BA drops)
You need to complete a triumph for it. Go to daddy Shaxx and it's in his inventory and will say what triumph you need to complete.
EDIT: Hand Cannon is Warden's Law.

I hate poopy looking characters but with the fact all my characters are around 730 LL now I get a new piece of gear all the damn time so i'm not using any shaders or nothing till I'm maxed or have some gear I like. Luckily with all the runes unlocked for my chalice I can get full sets of powerful gear now so I can get my gear higher since usually I drop mostly guns from powerful drops.

Finally pulled my hunter all the way up to level 50 feels so good to have him back for PVP and to get better the hunters always the toughest to play and its good to have 3 to rotate all at the same level just about

I have it. It's 18 tributes & a quest that is actually surprisingly forgiving. Gun is fun. Isn't snappy enough for my liking and I'm still running the Blast Furnace. If you are looking for fast progress on tributes, slap on all your Meng weapons and armor and hop into various activities and raids.
EDIT: For those looking to get it EZPZ, there are two strats:
1) Farm out the 4 daily bounties from ROBO CALUS to reduce the price of the tributes. It will take 20 days to get the prices at an 80% reduction.
2) The method I used, use your hoarded legendary shards to buy glimmer and planetary materials from the spider and turn in for the 15 bounties that ROBO CALUS has. Don't burn your bright dust till the very end, not worth losing all that doge.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'll be working on it this evening thanks for the simplified guide to getting the tributes I was confused last night wondering if they were like achievements I needed to get for it or what I couldnt figure it out. Now I just need to finally run the outbreak prime mission then go after the worm sniper rifle as well I need to get a title
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah, it confused the hell out of me at first. The moment of triumph guide is actually a seal. It tells you what all you need to get done. The individual triumphs for the tributes are in destinations > minor I think. There are some easier ones to do like a 100K NF in all "Calus" gear which counts as year 1 leviathan raids, menagerie gear, and crown of sorrow gear. All kinds of stuff for strike completions, raid completions, gambit & crucible completions, etc. 15 that I mentioned are easily done with glimmer, planetary materials bought from spider (as you need like 600-700), and legendary shards which hopefully you have thousands of. If not, run activities like crazy.
As far as whisper and outbreak go, get a group for sure, take a couple practice runs, and just dedicate the time to get it done. If you have a friend with them, it helps tremendously as they can guide you. The hardest part is the time crunch.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sweet I have usually around 1k shards since I'm not leveling up gear unless its a good gun otherwise I'm sharding everything as always. Got a great roll on a truth handcannon last night the things a beast for me now with huckleberry and I put a big mag mod on the handcannon so its got a huge mag now and explosive rounds it can melt stuff. I always buy stuff off spider so I shouldnt be far off on that achievement I'm constantly stashing mats for when I do start pulling gear up to max LL.
The outbreak prime mission I've got done route wise its just getting faster I'm hoping the hunter will help me cut some serious time being faster than my titan and warlocks. I got a friend who has a friend whos a master at it whos gonna help me run the outbreak this week sometime to get it so it should help to have someone whos super good at it.

Anyone have any recommendations for a laptop that will play some older games decently? My wife just picked up Cities: Skylines for $10 on steam and is obsessed with the next level Sim City building that it can do, but its basically melting down the Surface Pro tablet we got last year. Any suggestions on something that would be able to handle games that are roughly 5 years old? I figure anything that we could get that would be able to handle that would be able to handle any and all other uses we would have for the laptop with absolute ease (media storage/editing).
Oh, preferably something that isn't completely jacked up on bloatware right out of the box. Looking at you, Dell and HP.

I've got an older asus G55 VW series laptop that runs everything in the older area very well its probably around 8 years old and still holds fine on older games newer stuff not at ultra but I still play skyrim and the older elder scrolls and fallout games maxed out just fine.

2/2/2 Role Lock and Role Queue on Overwatch now is so great, there will be some bad games but overall 95% of the time were fun and close. If you want an excuse to get back into comp in OW 2/2/2 has been fun though it's in beta for two weeks on live then Season 18 will start.
2952 Support (Main).
2072 DPS (worse games I had).
2632 Tank (surprise this high, but having teammates on their roles help and most games were fun).

Quarterly sounds about right. It's not like there were any/many major game releases or updates in the past couple months. That will start in September, end in November, and then start again in February through April 2020.
Of course, Gamescom is next week, and some announcements will be made.

The only big name game that came out was Fire Emblem: Three Houses (really good BTW) at the end of July and I think maybe a few people here (besides me) played Fire Emblem.
September seems to be the best month to start again because of Borderlands 3 and then DOOM Eternal comes out in November.

There is a small game that came out that I'm probably going to spin up this week called Dicey Dungeons (I think, it's close to that) and it supposedly is similar to Slay the Spire.
I've also jumped back into Blood Bowl 2 which anyone here would probably enjoy if they take a shine to boardgames. It is essentially a football management turn based gamed set in the Warhammer universe. I'm in the reddit league and it's starting up for new folks in the next week.

I wish I played the tabletop version of it. It finally got updated rules a year or two ago and a YouTube channel, Miniwargaming, did a couple seasons of it and was hilarious.
I love the lore of Blood Bowl and how it became the Old World's (RIP, obligatory fuck Matt Ward for lore rape) main sport/entertainment.

I 100% recommend Slay the Spire. Fantastic rogue lite game and I have put hundreds of hours into it.
I've done Banner Saga 1 & 2. Fell off a bit as it seemed to change fairly drastically and was a very arbitrary strategy game. Fun for a bit but couldn't be assed with 3.

I'm done with two sets and on my third. I will say, no engrams for events really puts a damper on them. Was always fun seeing what goodies you would get and now it's just a slog to burn through bright dust.

The shitty part for me was when you ran the event and earned your reward, the rewards were set up to be hidden and behind a timer. The carrot keeps getting pulled farther and farther away. I just stopped doing it and running normal game modes.

Yeah, I think they are in a bit of a crisis surrounding monetization. The pressure does seem a little relaxed with Activision gone but you can tell Bungie is still looking into ways to grow and turn the money into more money.
Nothing wrong with it as long as the cosmetics and content are accessible and fun.

Anyone catch the Desty 2 Armor 2.0 updates? It seems better for convenience, but worse for min/max builds. Need to see the net delta on stat changes before I make up my mind.

Overall sounds like a positive step forward. Not sure I like the armor/mods being tied by damage type, but maybe I just don't fully understand that yet.

It looks good for min/maxing for specific roles and weapon types. If I'm viewing it correctly, it won't be mods we'll be searching for with armor drops, it will be stats. Since they are bringing back the original three for super/melee/grenades, and giving a maximum decrease to each, it also allows for them to create a better balance in multiple areas.
Essentially, you'll be able to find gear that might help you reach the maximum without having to use certain mods, opening up the ability to use other mods instead. Also, if you like to use shotguns and hand cannons, you can mod to help out your shotguns and hand cannons specifically.
The biggest thing I hope they don't do, is put a cap on gains per week for whatever material might limit growth potential. Also, I can imagine it won't be long until they implement a power adjustment similar to what they did in D1. Since power currently ranges around 500-750, and the jump to 850 comes with Shadowkeep, they'll probably drop base power a bit and redo the numbers slightly.
I like that all Year 1 and Year 2 armor is being brought up to 2.0 armor, it just has to drop. That makes the planetary drops worth trying for again, potentially.

So, the Book of Luke Pt II (Luke Smith's updates) you will need to obtain mods from playing. once obtained, they are yours forever and you can socket them in or out for glimmer.
Different armor elements will have different rolls available to the. Hand cannon and shotguns are not of the same type though, so you will not be able to have load outs that run all in one nice piece. You would have to run some pieces of Arc for the shotty and some pieces of void for the HC. The cost of them will also be a problem as I have some god roll pieces from Y2 that have double enhanced rolls that you will no longer be able to find in Y3 with how the costs run.
Stats, from what I read, are around 30 base in Y2. In Y3, they will god up to 100 if you hunt around and really minmax.
They have loosened up the cap, 950 is now the cap with pinnacle gains breaking the cap with a theoretical 960 for flex. The seasonal artifact will also increase light level so players who do not engage in pinnacle activities can hit 950 and still do the new PvE matchmade activity. This seems good.
They are eliminating the +1, +2, +3 LL gains from powerful engrams and standardizing it. You can also have rare world drops that are legendaries on LL when you have passed soft cap. Basically, if you were at 740 on everything but boots, there would be a chance that a purple could drop at 740 so you could get small gains.
I'm mixed on it. There is definitely a grind that will be in play, the meta strat will be to farm a set of Arc, Void, and Solar. The preview yesterday gave me some mixed feelings as it does seem to be a perk lite version of Destiny with a focus on stats. The artifact looks interesting and a good way to test perks with the community instead of dropping things like eye of the storm or swashbuckler. Menagerie also got a buff with how easy it will be to farm different elemental sets.

Ehhhhh, I'm pretty sure it isn't trials. They wouldn't have teased it with Luke's Pt III covering PvP, would have just waited for the big reveal.
Fairly confident it will be this seasons PvE matchmade activity like forges, reckoning, and menagerie. Bungie has been pushing the solo experience more and these seem to fit that niche. I'll bet it's a wave based activity as they haven't truly explored that yet.

Anyone know if there is a reddit graphic available similar to the old ones for D1 and early D2 that said what you should be doing at each level?
I don't get to play more than once a week and now up to 745 LL but without a fire team to play with. Had a gap in playing so find my myself just going back to old quests I didn't finish. I do the Menagerie a lot because its fun, but other times just bouncing around doing stuff that probably doesn't mean anything. Forged the machine gun in the Black Armory, but haven't really determined if it is worth it to grind the exotics.
After starting D1 late and then grinding hard to get up to levels with everyone else, I planned to try to stay on top of the development of D2, but fell behind when we had our daughter. Now I feel as lost as I did back in D1, but without a fire team to help explain.

If you are strapped for time, I recommend doing your two powerful forge weapons and two powerful armor menagerie pieces weekly. You can target the slots they drop for quite easily so you can boost your lowest items.
Past that, check your daily challenges. They will be one and done objectives like 1 crucible or 1 gambit prime or 1 strike. Super easy to just do the dailies and grab some quick light.

Same here. I had my daughter in December and have been struggling to keep up with the grind since. I hope it's still accessible to people like us when they make the changes

People may not like it, but pushing all weapons to 750 will help me get pumped again. I have so many exotics and other things in my vault that I fear bringing out because they are so under leveled. I loved the grind when I knew what I was doing or had people help me get back up to speed, but now it's a black box to me. I want the game to be fun for high level grinders, just wished there was a way to get up to speed faster, I try to use that time to play.

Stoked for what Bungie has in store for us with their recently announced panel. It also sounds like there could be some big things coming through the pipeline as far as some other big franchises so we will see!
Have you run the Menagerie yet? It's pretty awesome.
I dipped back into D2 and the Menagerie is amazing. Definitely a step in the right direction.
But they RUINED my Skull of Dire Ahamkara and screw them for that.
HA! I don't think I've even equipped it in D2. I'm a 'Lock main too.
It was a new Obsidian Mind before this nerf. Now it's useless. But Geomags still work so guess I'm gonna be running arc pretty much all the time.
They even nerfed Phoenix Protocol. It's not useless but man, if it's not Lunefaction or Geomags, there's no exotics to use on Warlocks now.
Yep, I honestly haven't been that excited about any of the exotics in D2, at least not nearly as much as D1.
Most of these exotics were nerved with Menagerie and raids in mind. Did y'all see the Bungie stream today? I'm not going to lie, I got emotional. I think it really came through today on how badly Activision was controlling the creative direction of the game and how far they limited the Bungie devs.
I watched the first bit of the ViDoc. I really hope these guys can work it out.
I'm super excited to see EA pretend like they are going to fix Anthem. Looking forward to see if Ubisoft brings any news about Skull & Bones to E3.
Bungie news on the furutre of Destiny could be fun, but I think I'm done with them for the long run.
Maybe a bit better idea of Cyberpunk 2077 from CD ProjektRed?
EA isn't even technically at E3. They are having a pre-show event but no press conference. EA using the time to pump the new Star Wars game is the only thing I would count on.
Yay another stat wars game I will hate to play!
Then don't get it. Problem solved.

I'll be there for Jedi Fallen Order. It sounds like the game writer not only has a great resume (KOTOR2 for one), but has a strong working knowledge of pre-2012 Star Wars, and actually is willing to speak up about it. Sold.
EA wont say a thing on Anthem guaranteed that dumpster fire is well and truly dead already.
Yeah I have a feeling like they're going to act like it never happened.
It's pretty sad because at its core, Anthem is actually really fun. I actually feel like I got my money's worth out of it before getting frustrated with the replay-ability and bad decisions. It could have been so much better though.
Tfw you pull staff from ME: A to work on Anthem and both end up being crap
I want some more of the new call of duty straight into my veins
If EA announces NCAA Football the internet might break
If only...
I dont understand why they don't just make ther game with zero likenesses. Let the fans do that like they do today. Just randomize every one and laugh at the occasional Jared Lorenzen size QBs. Dont use the right numbers, dont do anything with player likeness.
That would really eliminate EAs ability to set up the Ultimate Team mode that has been extremely lucrative for them in their other sports games. I'm also not sure consumers would get behind it.
They can still do Ultimate Team with random players in the regular game. NCAA14 was the first one to use Ultimate Team and it only included players that had been in the NFL or were out of college and could be paid for their likeness.
So basically not college football?
Hokiemacho mentioned not being able to use Ultimate Team in the college game as potentially being a reason EA might not pursue more NCAAF games. I am just pointing out that NCAA14 did have Ultimate Team, but the way around dealing with college player likeness was to only use players that had already graduated. You still played as whichever college you wanted to, but with these NFL/graduated players.
Just to circle back, I spent a bunch of hours playing this morning. The combat is way better, and I concede that this game is really good so far.
So thanks all of you that convinced me to give it another go.
I didn't play Witcher 2, but for me the fun of W3 was its story more than anything. The background/lore and how everything fits together is really well done and decisions you make have direct consequences in a lot of cases.
Thanks. I like games with story, so I think I'll give it another try.
I'll just be over here praying for sequels to Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild.
That's the thing Zelda never really puts out sequels just new Zelda games with their own look and feel. Mario is the same way but the look stays the same.
They did a Galaxy 2, though, so I'm hopeful for Odyssey 2.
And if there was ever a Zelda game that needs a repeat of the Majora's Mask treatment, it's BotW.
If a Majora's Mask sequel is announced I would be very happy, using the open world like BoTW with the messed up setting/atmosphere of Majora's Mask would be awesome.
Mother of God...
Wish granted
I'm the opposite of a hardcore gamer....wanted to play a mindless shooter last night and all I had installed was Fortnite. I played for like an hour and 9/10 times before I could even take a shot the other person had built a legitimate mansion around me just to open the garage and one shot me.
I wasn't a big fan of PUGB, I've heard decent things about Apex? I really need that new COD to come out I haven't enjoyed a multiplayer shooter in a long time.
I installed it last night so I'll give it a shot and likely suck at it this evening. To me PUGB was okay but the actual physical gameplay controls didn't feel responsive.
Enjoy!
This is the kind of mindless BR game I can get behind. Aiming makes sense the controls are natural to any FPS and people aren't building me houses to die in.
It was an emotional day for sure. So proud of Bungie and the direction they are taking this franchise.
There are already a few companies who offer streaming gaming and it works really well for just having to spend less than $100 and then $10-15 a month to play anything at 60 fps and 1080p. Kind of an interesting option if you travel around a lot.
I'm pretty skeptical. I expect it will be at least moderately limited in the games available and without a stellar internet connection there's going to be enough lag and latency that it kills the experience.
Here I am just hoping Pikmin 4 gets announced for the switch.
Awesome deal alert!
Linky link
How long will this deal last? My Gold expires this month!
Not sure but the deal is still going today. Buy gold for another year, then add the game pass.
You read my mind!
Not sure what you're reading to give this impression. I renewed my annual subscription in May, paid $1 for ultimate, and got upgraded to ultimate through June 2020.
Good to know, I wasn't aware of the conversion rate going forward, thanks!
I still don't think it applies to the OP in the way they think it does. Should still be able to add time to your gold subscription now before upgrading to Ultimate and get the 1:1 upgrade.
Yeah, I mixed them together, because they never said that the $1 upgrade applied to the full term of your Live Gold membership.
But after seeing the posts on here I saw that the deal was 1:1, at least for now, so I bought in. Says it's good for over a year, so, thanks!
I believe it's through E3. So, maybe over on the 14th?
Phantasy Star Online 2 coming Spring 2020? I'm in.
Holy shit I used to play PSO on GameCube all the time! This is exciting news!
via GIPHY
All I needed to hear was the theme to halo and I cried fuck I cannot wait to continue this story.
Project Scarlett with a holiday 2020 release.
Curious as to when they'll unveil the console and it's real name.
That Halo trailer was interesting.
Other than that, can't say that anything really caught my eye today.
Edit: that's a lie. BATTLETOADS!!
No ES6 or Starfield from Bethesda. But FO76 is getting an expansion so everyone totally cares about that, right?
At least DOOM Eternal looks good. Ghostwire and Deathloop is interesting and new Rage 2 content is always good.
So yea watching Devolver Digital conference is definitely an experience reminds me of random Adult Swim skits, but have some good looking games.
Has anyone played Cuphead on the switch? I am strongly considering buying it, but I wanted to see if anyone had any input before I commit to it
I have it for xboxone.
I picked it up since it was on sale for about half off. It hasn't disappointed thus far.
Some of the battles are almost a puzzle game. It's like an RPG, card collector, puzzle, story driven single player experience that just works
Alright so a couple things.
1 - Fallen Order looks like a must buy for me. I know a lot of people are panning it, but it looks like Uncharted with light sabers. Yep, sign me up.
2 - LEGO Skywalker Saga to everything next year. My wife really only likes the LEGO games, and I already know she'll play the hell out of that.
RE: Fallen Order. That game just seems to need more time to cook. Watching the demo it seemed like they were moving from set piece, through open space, to set piece. I get it is an E3 demo, but if the game isn't a bit more dynamic, it's going to feel really flat.
OH! I forgot!! They should be unveiling the Avengers game made by Square Enix!! It sounds super promising and I'm really looking forward to it.
This didn't age well.
I'm out of the loop on this, did square enix shit the bed?
It seems people are unhappy with the character designs?
They don't look like the movie actors, but I really don't see anything wrong with them.
I just don't think that they fit.
Makes sense. I have been seeing the comments, but haven't really looked into the details.
It sure didn't.
It suuuuuuure didn't.
Nathan Drake is Iron Man
Ive been playing Fallout 76 on and off since it came out. I wasnt crazy about the idea of a battle royale mode but after playing it, I actually kind of like it. Any other Fallout 76 players here have any thoughts about it?
So, I've been watching this gameplay video for Final Fantasy VII Remake and I have to say that I'm impressed. Combat looks like they're intentionally going away from pressing the same button over and over and hacking and slashing your way to victory. The voice acting sounds pretty spot on too. I went from being mildly curious about this game to on board the hype train.
Yeah, ..I went from..
1. zero interest
2. ..I'll probably pick up the collector's edition and sell it
3. wow, that combat looks pretty damn good. I'll play it.
I am in my late 30s, and honestly, I am SO HYPED for this game! Day ONE buy for me, ironically my birthday is March 2nd, I know what I'll be doing March 3rd.
LOL That's fantastic. So I believe in one of these gaming threads FFVII Remake came up and I said something like "I just want to fully explore Midgar" and it seems like that's exactly what they're doing. The emphasis of expanding the world and characters and really fleshing out this game has me pretty excited.
That Trials of Mana remake and Dragon Quest gameplay looks amazing.
I've been playing Tomb Raider: Shadow of the Tomb. It's alot more fun then I expected, I've also been impaled about 100 times in the first day.
Seriously man, it's like.... Does every fall result in her getting impaled somehow?!?
It certainly appears that way lol.
When that game came out I would ask my girlfriend what she wanted to do that evening. She would respond "Make Laura fall off of high things and get impaled". Seemed legit.
I think I actually said "Make Laura fall off of high things and die" but you were close.
you corrected that but not Laura/Lara?
Autocorrect will get after you 🤷♀️
Who doesnt want to watch Lara get impaled, if you know what I mean.
Moon's haunted. Must kill Crota.
It's been a few months since I've played but if you want to level up fast there is a way to power level to 650 in an hour or two. I think you need the annual pass for that. Otherwise, going through the story mode missions is the best way to level up. Once you've done that, there are bounties and weekly/daily events.
If you are interested in the campaign mode, finishing curse of osiris and forsaken should take you almost all the way from 30 to 50. I wish I stuck with Destiny 2. The pass was $35 when I had it and I didnt feel like spending that when I could just get a new game.
3 is the forbidden number at Valve.
Knowing that I was never going to get 3 I just played a massive amount of portal labs maps. Some of the creativity is insane.
I played Division 2 over the weekend since it was free. I am on the fence about buying. I typically like shoot and loot games but the diving for cover seemed clunky and the enemies even early in the game were bullet sponges. Does this get better as you level up or is this just how the game is?
~20 hours. The bulk of it heavily weighted towards somewhat frustrating things at level cap. If you ever want to see or get a rough estimate on how long you'll be on something check out https://howlongtobeat.com/.
Everyone is talking about new games, but today is the last day of the Playstation Days of Play Sale
So, if you want to grab a few older games for pretty cheap, I'd go check it out. There are a few games I missed the first time around, so I grabbed:
NBA 2K19 is $3 right now. So if you're into those games, that's a pretty sweet deal. And if you need a new dualshock4 controller like I did from beating mine up playing Destiny and Titanfall 2, they are on sale for $40 instead of the usual $60 at most major retailers.
replying to my own post: after playing Spider-Man on PS4, Arkham Knight's controls are super clunky.
I just picked up Destiny 2 and Titanfall 2.
blackf0x520 ...for anyone that wants to help me run through destiny 2
What console?
DredgenMoore if on Xbox. Always need more active people in our clan!
Make sure you pick up the pulse rifle (Blast Furnace) and the machine gun (Hammerhead) from Black armory if possible! They're both extremely relevant in this meta and two of my most used legendary's.
Blast Furnace and Hammerhead would be priority since you can only grab two BA per week. With a bit of grind, Austringer is a great gun. I still prefer Warden's Law. Lord of Wolves is dummy broken in your 2 slot but Loaded Question is a great option too.
Uhmmm, there are precise ways to start the exotic quests. For Thorn and AoS. Outbreak prime will require LL around 700 for you to complete the final activity. And a 3 person fire team. If you are on PC I can help.
Edit: I'll also Brag with my collection. https://braytech.org/4/4611686018467394250/2305843009299056854/collections
If you do the first couple steps of the Opulence opening quest, you will get a full set of blues that are 690. That may help you a bit
You should be able to pick up some things from The Drifter (Gambit Guy) to help boost your light level if you haven't already.
I picked up everything he had to offer accept the prime bounties that I had no hope of finishing solo but otherwise I cleaned him out, which quests should I be looking for from him?
I leveled to 720 without any raids or nightfalls on my 'lock. I don't know what expansions or anything that you may have but, The Drifter had "helper" quests to boost your xp at one point. I'm guessing you have already done those. Honestly I got all of my higher drops from doing the daily strikes and gambit primes that drop the strongest gear.
Huh guess I have I'm gonna look through my quest log and see if anything stands out. Still trying to figure out what all the new stuff means even. In 3 days I managed to go from 340 to 676 so its not too bad hopefully I can get to 700 by saturday so I can do a little iron banner.
I have D2 on PS4, Xbone, and PC but I mainly play PS4. If you are on there I can help you with stuff.
DrNicewater
We will have cross save soon so we can play our same characters across all systems.
Cannot wait for that so I can play on my PC when I want to having a nice gaming PC but not many people to play Destiny with has kept me from going that way for now.
So outbreak perfected is worth the quest I was gonna start that one up tonight as well to start on it since everyone seems to like it.
It's your new Whisper of the Worm. 6 man fireteams running it can melt bosses. It is often preferred over heavy weapon damage. Make sure you bring friends with you for zero hour, it's a pain to complete solo.
Sorry, for those that asked..I'm on the PS4.
Guacamelee is delightful
Bring 2 LL 750 friends.
They bugged drop rates but that's still some incredible luck! Congrats on the 4 man Riven that's quite the accomplishment.
I gotta say the heart run after Riven was the hardest part with just 4.
Now if I could just get a decent group together for the Recluse grind I'd be golden.
You on Xbox? I got mine last season and for some reason I actually enjoy comp but haven't have much reason to go into it so far.
Damn I've heard the grind for 1k voices is brutal. Think I'm going to start dipping into the raids this upcoming week do the matchmaking queues work still for them or do we still gotta LFG it?
PSN - DrNicewater
I sent you an invite (Rabuddhafrid).
I live in Shawsville btw. We just finished the Lumina quest, it's not too bad really. Gun is awesome for support warlocks in particular.
I'm duo1192 on PS4. I have a 6 month old though, so sometimes it's tricky to play long activities without her getting pissed haha
It's cool, one of our regulars is in the same boat. We're pretty accommodating to interruptions of that sort.
I found an 29" ultrawide monitor at Goodwill and I am going back to play a bunch of stuff I haven't played in a while. How did I go so long with my old, small 19" 16x10 monitors? Time to spend a few days modding Skyrim again...
The work space is really nice as well.
I didn't realize destiny was so popular
I am, but never ran a raid since lack of interest by my friends. Closest I got I d2 was the last wish.
Maybe we can pull 6 together and schedule it ahead of time. Some terrible people through LFG on raids are some of my worst memories from D1. Getting a group of fun / nice people even though it may have taken longer were some of my favorite.
I would be up for that, probably means I need to play it more, I got to 690ish but haven't really played a lot.
Lemme know when yall wanna run raids im on Xbox and would love to run the raids with a good group. I've run leviathan a bunch as well. GT Titilywink ill run pvp strikes anything im down
Awesome, I'll add you later tonight or tomorrow when I'm on.
I'll get to it once family leaves and I remember so Sunday, or 2 weeks from now
While not on Xbox, for everything but PVP, I've had decent luck with LFG from both destinylfg.net and Bungie's "Find Fireteam" function.
Forgot how much fun NCAA Football 13. About to start all over again...hadn't played it in years...
For the Destiny 2 crowd out there, farm out this season's crucible shader, Crucible Carmine. The pallet may please you.
Hard to separate me from Bloody Tooth but this one pleases me as well
What armor set is that? Shaders drop from the crucible playlist and packages as well right cause I need that shader
Yeah, between BA and Meng, you can almost get a full set of guaranteed powerfuls weekly. It's nice.
Finally pulled my hunter all the way up to level 50 feels so good to have him back for PVP and to get better the hunters always the toughest to play and its good to have 3 to rotate all at the same level just about
Anyone get the bad juju yet on Destiny looks like its tied to the triumph hall somehow
I unlocked 4 tributes and now I'm broke hahaha
Anyone else hopping into No Mans Sky tomorrow with the Beyond release?
I've finally got all my parts to assemble my new PC, then I'm back in the game.
Shit, forgot to make a new thread. It's fine though, nothing big really happening at the moment.
Probably only make a thread every quarter or so.
I just got my gaming room set up at the new place finally though, so that's exciting
Well, if you pick up the Blood Bowl 2 PC game, check reddit for REBBL (Reddit Eternal Blood Bowl League). They do a great job of bringing in new players.
Is Slay the Spire any good? It's up on Gamepass right now but I have such a backlog of other games to play atm.
Doing a complete play through of The Banner Saga 1-3 right now
I 100% recommend Slay the Spire. Fantastic rogue lite game and I have put hundreds of hours into it.
I've done Banner Saga 1 & 2. Fell off a bit as it seemed to change fairly drastically and was a very arbitrary strategy game. Fun for a bit but couldn't be assed with 3.
Will definitely give it a shot. I still play Rogue Touch on my iPhone almost daily nearly a decade after downloading it
Wow Classic name reservations were Monday, and servers open 26 August. Almost there!
Summer Solstice in Destiny 2 is garbage.
Also that [REDACTED] tease. Trials? Dungeon? I'm intrigued.
If it's trials I'll be meh about it, I'm not sweaty enough for all that. But it would theoretically reduce the sweat in quickplay.
I doubt it's Trials as well. They were talking about a new PvE experience like menagerie/escalation protocol.
Thanks!
If you're on PS4 feel free to add me, just let me know who it is. I have a clan but mostly just putz around solo.
DrNicewater
Almost there!
I just got started playing Star Trek Fleet Command last week...
people take this game way too serious on the servers. Its fun to go rogue on them every once and a while
Reviving this to ask if anyone plays Sea of Thieves? Some of my buddies and I have taken to that and are having a blast.
