Week 1 Other Basketball Games

What other games are you looking forward to between now and Sunday?

Got to thinking about it when I saw Boston College is hanging tough with #3 Villanova. BC up 46-41, 4 minutes into the second half.

Remember when we were going to face Rhode Island in one of the early projected schedules? They lost a close one to #18 Arizona State today 94-88.

Most of the first games were blowouts as expected or are about to be. Was surprised Butler only beat Western Michigan 66-62. You know its OOC season when there is a laundry list of teams playing opponents that dont even have team pages on ESPN. 32 games were either cancelled or postponed today due to Covid or extenuating circumstances from it (ie Ivy League cancelling winter sports). Notable teams that were not in play for this reason were #2 Baylor, #9 Duke, #12 Tennessee, and #20 Oregon.

Tomorrow's highlight has to be the 130PM matchup of #6 Kansas vs #1 Gonzaga on Fox. Will have this on one screen and the NFL on the other. #12 Tennessee ducked #1 Gonzaga and #6 Kansas in the Jimmy V Classic by cancelling this weekend and was replaced by WVU.

Friday has Louisville playing Seton Hall at 4pm on ESPN2. If you want to catch the Wahoos they are on at 1130 against San Francisco on ESPN. Flip between that and #1 Gonzaga taking on Auburn at 11 on Fox.

Saturday is pretty light on games so as not to compete with football.
Notre Dame plays #13 Michigan State at 8pm on BTN

Sunday gives us #14 Texas Tech vs #17 Houston at 530pm on ESPN2.

Hokies play both Saturday and Sunday at 8pm. ESPNews on Saturday and ESPN2 on Sunday.

That URI game was insane, they called 81 fouls in that game and the Rams lost by the fact that they shot only 60% FT.

BC still holding tough, up 58-57 with 9 minutes to play.

and Villanova with the dagger 3 with about 3 minutes to go. BC ran out of juice at the end. Ashton-Langford and Heath appear to be a lethal duo in the backcourt for the Eagles. BC just couldnt hit from outside, going 8-26.

Georgia Tech and Georgia State, not knowing how many games anyone's gonna get to play this year, are clearly enjoying every second of basketball they can get.... /s

Tied at 110, heading into quadruple OT.

Wow bad day for ACC. Pitt loses to St Francis(PA) and GT to Georgia State in 4OT

Kansas getting boatraced by Gonzaga. 102-87 Been a microcosm of AAU basketball. CMY would be losing his mind. Zags just brought in the entire bench.

San Francisco staying with UVA. Up 55-54 with 3 minutes left in the game.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

Now up 61-54 with 2 minutes left. Go Dons.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

And San Fran wins 61-60.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Were they a 16 seed?!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

Georgia Tech with their second really bad loss to start the season losing to Mercer by ten, 83-73. Josh Pastner's seat heating up.

Notre Dame also appeared helpless against #13 Michigan State, also getting dropped by ten.

Richmond leading at #10 Kentucky , leading 42-41 with under 15 to play

Richmond now leading 51-43

Richmond up 63-52 with 3:55 to play

Kentucky has no answer for the Richmond bigs, Wildcats getting destroyed down low

Geez loluva, get your act together. We a basketball state

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Three biggest upsets in college basketball all involve Virginia, as Richmond takes down #10 Kentucky 76-64
lolUVA looking at you

That's a super good Richmond team that lost their best 3 point shooter back in October too to an injury.

They were really well prepared and Kentucky had no answer for the bigs down low. Both bigs had a really deft touch passing, especially on cutters but also didn't hesitate to back a Wildcat right to the basket for an easy layup. The biggest surprise was that the starting guard combo for Richmond had a really subpar game offensively and they still won by 12. Defensively it was like watching the old VCU HAVOC defense under Shaka Smart

Murray State 173- Greenville 95, who had the over in this one? Greenville goes 20-74 from behind the arc while Murray State went 5-13. Only 15 of their 173 points from behind the arc, crazy. 77-105 from the floor (73%)
