It's a cat. I read about this gif one time. Apparently the turkeys aren't sure its dead and they do this weird little circle thing sometimes when they think a potential predator is around. Its a way to see what the predator might do. I was disappointed in reading this because I was totally hoping it was some kind of turkey occult ritual to bring the cat back to life.

Even though it's ugly, it's a win. And absolutely insane to think in Young's second year, we'd have ESPN saying that we could end the month as the best team in the ACC

This Fam. I love this team's depth and compete level. They were able to get it done even with to players having clear off nights. Aluma looked like what many of us were expecting to get (as opposed to the all-ACC guy what we got) and Cone was ice cold and the team kept running themselves into dumb turnovers. But they still found a way to win on the road.

Checked the double digit boxes in forced turnovers and free throws
Did not check on four scorers (3) and offensive rebounds.(7)
Did not think it would have been possible to have blocks up for consideration, then the Hokies got 9 in the first half....and finished the game with 9 per ESPN stats.
The really ugly was allowing 16 offensive rebounds and 18 second chance points. Nearly a third of their points were from second chances.

FAM! Great win bringing a different look tonight. ACCN makin me puke with their strokin UVA and FSU during the post game show. No love for us. Not even a mention.

Until we beat them the perception is there since preseason. It faltered some for UVA with a couple early thunkers but they dissected Clemson yesterday. It was a basketball clinic. If they play near that the rest of the season they will be hard to beat.

I mean, UVA just DESTROYED Clemson yesterday and looked as good as they possibly could, plus they're 5-0 in conference. Meanwhile we've snuck in with some wins despite looking really sloppy in many of them (like, I literally have no idea how we've won some of these games with our propensity for terrible passes and incredibly loose ball-handling, especially in second halves)...if we start putting all of the pieces together I think an argument could be made for us, but we need to tighten up a ton before we get into that conversation.

NET rankings for ACC teams:

These rankings are certainly not perfect, but the media is actually giving us a lot of credit ranking us #20 in the AP. I'm glad they're not picking us to win the conference, that would just add unnecessary pressure.

I doubt they try to reschedule unless both VT and UVA have a game cancelled the same day or something. It will be too hard on the athletes to squeeze in more games in February and March

Really curious that we didn't get Bamisile minutes though. Especially since we seemed to need a spark offensively. Not sure Maddox was planned though, as Coach had to get someone in when Boots got poked in the eye. Really glad he came back so quickly.

Of all the VT basketball games I've watched, that was definitely one of them.
That being said, this is the sort of game we would've lost last year, so I'm glad we could close it out. Some positives I noticed outside of Cattoor and Radford basically willing this win into existence - N'Guessan looks like he's starting to understand the speed of the game, and from the 3-4 mins Ojiako was on the court you could tell that he has CLEARLY put in some work this offseason and bulked up a TON. Just looked at his listed weights, and apparently he's gone from enrolling at 190 (6'10) to currently being listed at 245. The dude gained over 50 pounds, and looked like a monster - I can't wait until he's getting more minutes.

Anyone with his size is going to at least get looked at but he needs to develop a consistent offensive game and work on his lateral movement under the basket on both ends. It would help if he could develop enough of a dribble to step in and out around the rim with the ball.

David Jackson - This man right here deserves the credit for swelling up Bede, Cattoor and Ojiako. Really looking forward to him having a year with N'Guessan.
I feel like I forget a time when Bede wasn't built like a fire hydrant, but totally agree that Cattoor deserves that mention too, he's clearly been putting in time in the gym...if N'Guessan can get big in the same way that Ojiako has, hooo boy. I can only imagine having both of them with a good feeling for the game and being large, physical presences on top of that.

Gotta win these games too. Best comment of the night is that any ACC coach would love a guy like Radford. Guy just plays. And tonight he won the game for the Hokies, along with Hunter

The Grad Assistant they highlighted for Tech during the game because he grew up shooting basketball with the announcers kids was just selected as one of only 22 participants in the inaugural class for TopConnect Graduate Assistant Leadership Academy (GALA). There were over 115 applicants.
Was taking account the Ladies lost to Wake earlier 67-64 in much the same fashion the men tried to. They just seem to lack the 4Q throttle to finish games strong.

Another ACC dub FAM ๐ฆ๐
If it's been brought up before I apologize, but what is dead in the middle?
I'm not for sure, but I think it's some kind of devil vicar. If I remember right, it did not die easily though.

Tbh I never paid attention to what was actually happening in that gif, but that's creepy. Straight out of Stranger Things.
UGLY BUT STILL A W LETS GET IT FAM
I f you would have told me we were going to have 15 turnovers, Aluma held to 5 points, and Cone a goose egg, I would have bet the farm, we lose by 20.
So yeah, FAM!!!
Even though it's ugly, it's a win. And absolutely insane to think in Young's second year, we'd have ESPN saying that we could end the month as the best team in the ACC
There's a whole lot to like about that Wake Forest team if you're a Wake fan.
But there's a whole lot more to like about our Hokies... young, hungry, and always fighting. I love this team!
We play to our competition but still win๐
Except Penn St Idk what happen
Penn State played like Thugs and nothing got called on them. If we had brushed them a foul was called on us.
Fam! Good teams win on bad nights. When Aluma and Cone are lost and its still a road W, that's a big Fam!!

David G'Nuesan picked up the slack with 17 And1's. Road wins in the ACC are definitely worth a FAM.
Have to win games like this and we did. Little room for error with how bad the conference is this year.
Radford, N'Guessan, and Cattoor were huge. Lots to work on, but a resilient win.
FAM. Good teams win their clunkers.
Radford was on ๐ฏ

Speaking of which, has their been any talk of when/if they will reschedule the @UVA game?
Looking at the schedule, the best bet might just be playing them back to back on 1/30 and 2/1 (both teams play 1/30 and 2/3).
I doubt they try to reschedule unless both VT and UVA have a game cancelled the same day or something. It will be too hard on the athletes to squeeze in more games in February and March
At least we can beat 'em in Roundball, Fam
3-10, 1-6 Boston College up next on the 20th, 5pm on ACCN.
Good: Radford, N'Guessan, Cattoor, Aluma on the boards, Soooo Many Blocks.
Bad: 3 pt shooting. Defensive rebounding in general. Turnovers.
Ugly: Win, Everybody but Radford, N'Guessan, and Cattoor shooting. Wake with 14 extra shots.
The Great: Coach Mike Young seeing something outside of games to play N'Guessan so early and so much.
Also big John's return
He technically played a minute against Louisville. Returning from knee injuries is slow and sometimes a day by day thing.
Oh, I didn't see that game and must have missed that in the box score later. Thanks for the clarification.
We also got some Maddox minutes. He was clearing the bench in the first half.
Really curious that we didn't get Bamisile minutes though. Especially since we seemed to need a spark offensively. Not sure Maddox was planned though, as Coach had to get someone in when Boots got poked in the eye. Really glad he came back so quickly.

GCHokie over on TSL thinks Ojiako is a NBA Prospect

leg for fire hydrant
Jackson was here with Buzz when Bede came in but left with Buzz to Texas A&M, but came back to Tech with Coach Young after a year away.
Talk about the part where he destroyed fools in Slam Ball...

It was those frosted tips that brought that block home...
Thank you for that
Gotta win these games too. Best comment of the night is that any ACC coach would love a guy like Radford. Guy just plays. And tonight he won the game for the Hokies, along with Hunter
I could use a FAM, could you use a FAM?
You have to win the ugly ones to win them all, so fam!

He sure did crush that bottle of water while they were talking about him.
Agreed, he killed that water like it was the last rail at closing time.
I LOL'ed.
raaaaaaaaadford.... He had to go into Beast mode for us to win this game.
Lets be honest, Radford a BEAST every game. He and Hunter are my favorite Hokies.
Miami, Clemson, and now Wake??
Getting revenge on all the teams that beat us in football this year FAMMM
After the game, Mike Young was asked about being near the top of the ACC standings and national rankings. His response?
"That's where we're supposed to be. We're Virginia Tech."
QUOTE OF THE YEAR FAM
If only a certain other coach had a remotely similar persona and strong opinion.
F the sorta. ACC road win deserves full fam
