OT: Happy New Year TKP!

It's a gorgeous New Year's day here in New Jersey (55 degrees and sunny with a few light clouds- damn good for Jan. 1 in NJ.).

I wanted to wish all you ladies and gentlemen a happy new year!

If you've had a bad year, I wish you the change in your life to make this new year a better one for you and yours.

If you've had a good year, I wish you and your family continued success in your endeavors.

For all, I wish you health and happiness most of all, regardless of your situation. This is the most important thing of all.

For me, the turning of the year always marks a hope for happier times. Thanksgiving through Christmas is a wonderful time, but it comes with bittersweet memories for us. Our late son's birthday was December 5. My wife's the 12th, and my daughter's is the 26th. Being with family is great during this period, but there's always a empty space that will never be filled. It's a tough 5 weeks.

It is with this sentiment that I wish to ask you to join me in recognizing that we are all family here, and welcome the dawn of a new year filled with hope and endless possibilities.

We are all Hokies through thick and thin. Let's continue to build on what is already the greatest online community. Let's embrace our diversity of opinions and have meaningful discussions about them. Let's also get goofy and go off the rails sometimes talking about whatever ridiculous thing pops into someone's head. Let's root hard for all of our Hokies teams, win or lose. Let's continue to talk shit about the Wahoos.

Let's let bygones be bygones and not hold grudges. Let's avoid downvoting people, and just as importantly, let's avoid saying things that deserve downvotes.
