Friday Lifting:
Fresh from snapchat - and if you do not follow VTFootball, follow VTFootball on Snapchat. They have been really active recently with workouts.
JC Coleman Front Squat: 465lbs.
The team went nuts.
I'm sure the updates will come after lifting is complete, but this was amazing.

JC is an animal in the weight room! I really hope he can build off the last 4 games because those games were pure extasy!
Agree. He can put up some iron for sure. I think he's headed for a big year, especially with an improved OL.
"That Wake Forest game last year was pure ecstasy," said no one ever.
Watching Coleman break out in that game was pure ecstasy.
Dude monsterized.
He was the only bright spot in that game on offense for both teams.
Are you saying he's MDMAwesome?
Thanks for the heads up about the snapchat account. That was a beast performance.
JC Coleman is underrated. Beamer admitted as much in ACC media day.
I really hope thats true and he has a DW4 type season this year. I've really been looking for a good reason to wear my 4 jersey besides Kenjamin.
DAAAAAAMN!! That's like three times my front squat.
Damn. Kid is so diesel. I love JC Coleman. He's as hokie as hokie gets.
I resemble that remark :-)
If you've ever done front squats (PROPERLY), that number is really mind boggling to the common, aging lifter like me :-)
Edit: and JC is one of the most respectful, nicest people around. Really good guy.
This is insane. He front squatted 2.45 times his body weight.
think he did 425 for 3. impressive for sure.
dude could squat my whole family...
Mine too, and that includes 4 kids.
Nice capture Joe!
How did you get the video off of snapchat?
And he went deep, too.
That's what she said
That is slightly better than another RB with a smaller stature that eventually went on the the NFL. Ray Rice (Atlantic City issues aside here) squatted 450 while at rutgers and he was more of a bowling ball. JC squatting 465 is just awesome!
Hopefully it pays off on the field this year in the form of some tough yards and # linebackers shed.
Definitely appears to be a new muscle hamster in da House. Hopefully he builds on the last 4 games success from last year and grabs that #1 spot this season!
@4VIPSU Accidentally posted a vtfootball snapchat forum topic to alert others and didn't see your post here. My bad, brother!
no worries man - we're all in this together!
Yeah baby get yours. I'm getting pumped. This man is ready to run through some Buckeyes on Labor Day! Stout! Putting in work!
Holy guacamole! He front squatted 440 a couple years ago, and I thought that was insane! My birthday is now officially off to a great start.
Happy Birthday
Thanks!
You get JC's front squat record and a few commits, the past 2 years I've gotten a loss to Boston College. The world just isn't fair.
Boston College is going down this year, brah. Don't you fret about any perceived lack of fairness.
Tried to find a gif of him dragging and pushing UVA players in last years game but can't find it.....oh well....hopefully we have more of that. Glad to see he finally broke out. If trey returns to form and McMillian plays anywhere near what his potential in the spring game looked like we should have an awesome starting 3 and be able to let Shai and Juice redshirt and get a full year of recovery on their ACLs.
Until proven otherwise, JC should be the starter in the first game. He showed the last four games that he could be due for a big season this year.
I think he, Trey and Trevon are gonna put up some big numbers this year. Everyone stays healthy up front, things could get really, really fun.
1. JC might be my favorite player.
2. For a guy who has only ever done back squat, can some one tell me the advantages of doing a front squat?
I do them personally so that my spine remains straight which takes a tremendous load off the lower back and focuses on my little quads.
It basically forces you to have better form and engage the core muscles more because you can't tip forward or you will drop the bar.
You engage the quads and upper back more than the lower back and glutes- which you get more with traditional back squats. It's not all or nothing, but the difference is there.
For RB, the front squat has been argued to be a better exercise for those reasons.
Front squats are also really good if someone is struggling with correct form with back squats....another good variation is a Zercher squat which is a front squat with a low grip in the bend of the elbows.
Regardless, JC killed it.
Well Shoog, and there I was thinking you were all hair!
