2HokiesIn1, 8300A_Hokie'12, Bruce Feldman, LifetimeHokie12, and matthona did very well at 5-1 this week.
... and then there was NJVT21 with the 0-fer. ouch.
Thanks Brooks.

keep seeing articles of people talking about its time for Coach Beamer to step down. Really it's just time for you to be a UVA fan....— James Gayle (@JGayle99) November 4, 2014
And u know how I feel about UVA lol— James Gayle (@JGayle99) November 4, 2014
That is all.
I know we were all excited about the seasons that our trio of TEs could have this year, and they are certainly on that path. With his first career touchdown reception, Ryan Malleck helped this group break the single season record for receptions by TEs (previously held by the 2004 squad), giving the group an astounding 50 catches so far. as of today the group stands just 37 yards short of the all-time single-season yardage record and two touchdowns short of the single-season touchdown record (both also held by the 2004 squad).
I'm going to do a crazy prediction here and say we win (next) Saturday.
My reasoning stems from past Hokie experience and current state and mindset of players.
In the past, we always seem to play up at difficult times. And I'm sure these players don't want to be the group to lose the bowl streak or have a losing record.
Anyway, had to get that out there.
Edit: fixed date pointed out by Eggy.
after alot of talk about how the hokies should go uptempo and how the ball control offense we are trying to run isnt working i started to think... are we really controlling the ball if we go 3 and out time after time? Is a team like baylor or oregon or other teams who go uptempo and score quickly really losing in the time of possession battle just by scoring quickly? Even if all your drives are only 4 or 5 plays before you score you still need to have the ball quite alot to be putting up the 50.4 points a game baylor is.
News of Austin Clark's flip to Virginia Tech brings the highest rated true offensive lineman to Virginia Tech since current NFL'er Vinston Painter (per 247) and with that rating; optimism and expectations. Furthering this optimism is our recent recruiting successes, and successful conversions to the positions over the past year.
Lets look at what this offensive line is going to look like next year, assuming everybody comes back.
Our only seniors are Wade Hansen (a converted DT), and Ross Ward (a walk-on who has only seen 13 snaps in mop-up duty last season). Neither of these, I would expect, would factor into a two or three deep.
This seems to be an overlooked topic so I figured I would toss this out there - why hasn't out strength and conditioning program had a magnifying glass on it? I say this for a number of reasons including the number of players we have out for injury reasons, because of our inability to get any strength along the O-line (see our inability to develop a run game and protect the QB > 50% of the time)... and because I'm tired of placing blame on the offense, defense, STs, recruiting, etc...
Virginia Techs game at Duke on Nov. 15 will kick at noon from Wallace Wade Stadium and will be shown on @ESPNU.

I know that VT hasnt been setting up rating records, but Duke is a solid team leading the coastal after winning it last year. VT is a four times ACC champion. They deserved their spot on prime time TV.
What is up with all these noon kick-offs?
There's a lot that could be said about this turn of events that skirts or outright crosses the boundary of what is acceptable discourse on TKP. I'm hoping everyone here can enjoy the inanity of it and refrain from any political discussion.
But this just had me laughing, and I had to share.
Student Activists at UNC have decided the real villain in this scandal is:
I may be the minority, but I don't completely hate the call to run the WR screen. Our run game is ineffective and our best offensive playmakers are on the outside (at least with Shai McKenzie out). I do hate the design of our WR screens.
The play design that Loeffler tends to run sends the receiver moving away from the QB when the throw is made. This means it takes longer for the ball to get into the hands of the receiver. Another thing I don't like is it usually relies on 1 WR to block 1 DB with the pass-catcher left to make the other defender miss.
OK, so the Hokies are, ehh, struggling. Normally, I calm myself reveling in UVA's misery, a team and fan base that consistently come through for me, year after year...kinda like living within walking distance to an ABC store. Always there when you need it.
Well then, having established myself as a petty, bitter and vindictive man, I found a delicious formula for SEC ruin this morning that I would like to share.
How does an SEC with ALL teams having at least 2 losses sound? And what if Mizzou is also conference champion? For me, that cures what ails ya.
OK, maybe Mizzou as champion is dicey, but they sure have the inside edge on the East now. Get to the game, and who knows?
Despite what might or might not be the state of the program, let's show some support. We've got three regular season games left. If I were on this team, I'd do whatever I could to take my frustrations out on those three opponents.
We're with you Hokies.
Not sure if anyone's really interested in this matchup. NC State is probably the "best" of the worst Atlantic teams, and of course we all hate GT's game plan.

After taking immense amounts of flack the past few weeks for his play, Michael Brewer played a hell of a game on Saturday. Sure, he missed a few passes that he should've hit but I'll take 31-48 (65%) for 345 yards and TD's any day. Also showed some serious toughness and grit in the second half. Hopefully he can keep this up and continue to improve throughout next offseason.
I thought about writing this later in the week after I'd had time to digest the totality of what we've seen leading into a bye week and then three games that will define a season and perhaps a legendary coach's career. But 11 at night nearly 12 hours into a bender is more my style.
What we have at Virginia Tech and what we have in Frank Beamer is not comparable to any other school or any other coach. The easy thing to do in sports is to compare a situation or a player to something that came before it. Every white possession receiver is Oklahoman Wes Welker. Every bruising between-the-tackles runner is Earl Campbell.
What is the alternative that gives us a better chance to win than letting Frank finish his contract or even sign an extension? This is an honest question and not a rant intending to change the opinion of those that want Frank gone. I want to hear all opinions, even if they are different than mine.
The offense looked good!!! Babysteps people!!!
