ODU FAM
Three really good quarters of football...but that second...ugh. Either way it's a 3 score win in a house of horrors so FAMMMMMMM
Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.

FAM!
The Hokies head to Norfolk for a matchup that historically, on paper, should always have been an easy win. However, reality has been anything but. In 2018, Virginia Tech traveled to Old Dominion as a four touchdown favorite, hot off a big wins at Florida State and FCS William & Mary. Disaster struck leaving the Hokies without their starting Quarterback Josh Jackson, and star Defensive End Trevon Hill following a 49-35 loss to backup QB (and future seminary student) Blake LaRussa. Then again in 2022, the first game under new head coach Brent Pry, the Hokies (only six point favorites) traveled to Norfolk for their second road loss of the series.

The big takeaway here is that teams are lining up in zone 81% of snaps.
The TSL podcast talked about this as well (unsure if the source is the same), but I found their analysis to be interesting (Link, 18:10ish for Drones Discussion):
ODU QB Grant Wilson is questionable for the VT game. "Grant is going to continue to be evaluated," coach Rahne said.WR Diante Vines praised backup QB Colton Joseph: "A little Johnny Manziel-esque sometimes when he tries to run out of the pocket and throw a nice little ball." pic.twitter.com/fdSDOu2jCSβ Kolby Crawford (@kolby_crawford) September 12, 2024
This is fine. Everything about this is fine.
Adds Boise State, Colorado State, SDSU and Fresno State.

Who else would they add to salvage the conference?
Hawaii?
On one hand, I hope these suits go through and every athletic department is bankrupt in short order. Burn it to the ground- You guys wanted the NFL- so eat it. On the other hand, I see no grounds for this whatsoever. NIL wasn't legal/permissible when they played. I can see Shoelace wanting money though- since he sucks and never did anything - but of course since he can throw a football (sort of) he is entitled to millions in America. Because- Go Blue of course.

Good morning, fam.
Assuming we don't lay a third egg in Norfolk (which would be grounds for dissolving the football program on the spot), I'm headed to the Rutgers game with a first-timer in tow. I want to give him the full experience.
We will be traveling down from a conference in Harrisonburg that wraps up Saturday morning. What time do folks think is a realistic departure? Game is 330pm (the best kick imo) and Google maps says 2 hrs and 15 minutes. I'm wondering what recent experience has been traveling 64/81 on GameDay? It has been a long time since I drove that route the day of and I imagine things have changed.
Babcock says #Hokies, in collaboration with multimedia partner @PlayflySports, hope to soon sell corporate logo(s) on the field at Lane Stadium to drive new revenue. https://t.co/2pH6Aoc00Cβ David Teel (@ByDavidTeel) September 10, 2024
Ricky Rahne thinks a 17-point margin makes for a two-score football game
Because I'm able to stomach watching more football this weekend compared to last.
My sixth-grader complained that the seat was too short for him. He's 4'8" and 70 pounds soaking wet. I'm 6'4", and the goddamned thing pushed me forward three inches, ended like two inches into my thighs, and the ones in front of me made it impossible to keep my legs in front of me. My knees were basically around the ears of the poor woman in front of me. There was nowhere else for them to go. If I'd bought season tickets, I'd be calling to demand either a refund or the removal of the backs on my seats.
FAM!
I'll have to take a look again, but this week's slate of games isn't TOO exciting from what I remember.
Texas @ Michigan probably being the most prominent, but that does nothing for me.
edit: I suppose Georgia tech @ Syracuse can be an interesting watch.
Iowa-Iowa State is always a tough one too.
Tennessee @ NC State..
aaaand I hope New Mexico beats the shit outta Liberty.
Hey hey, let's welcome our buddies SMU to the acc shit show, they looked pretty bad again in a loss to BYU last night.
Who's going to be there tomorrow?
I hope to get up to Bburg around 9-930 and park it near the ropes course in lot 18.
Hope to see y'all there.

π Disappointment in the Outcome, but Appreciation for Passionate Fans
The coach expresses disappointment in the team's performance and loss to Vanderbilt, acknowledging they didn't play or coach well enough to win. However, he emphasizes his immense appreciation for the incredible turnout and passion of the Hokie Nation fans, saying their support is very special and the team is fortunate to have such dedicated supporters.
Virginia Tech entered the season as a sleeper playoff contender but showed up to the locker room in Nashville still asleep at halftime. The overtime loss to Vanderbilt to open the 2024 season was unfortunately emblematic of the Brent Pry era. Regardless of the offseason praise heading into this season, the Hokies under Pry are not known for their early season success β especially against major competition on the road.
