Six Pick: Week 4

Week 4 is here and it's damn good slate of games from Thursday night to all day on Saturday. It's early in the season, but it does look like less than 10 teams have legit shots at the playoff and it's quite possible one of them my have two losses. The only thing we do know is the B1G Ten has a bad case of #goacc.

This lsufreek gif from last year, still seems relative, until you realize each "bullet" is worth a hundred thousand #fsutwitter tweets

Techmo Bowl: Why do you dispise the "other" tech?

Every year we square off against the "Smuggiest" team in the ACC for the right to be known as "Tech". It's always a dog-fight and sometimes it get's chippy. Personally I can't stand the bumble bees and their smug coach. Especially knowing we will most likely have an injured D-lineman or Linebacker thanks to their stupid blocking scheme.

So why do you despise Gah-Tech?

Hatin' on Paul Johnson (renamed post)

No idea if this is true or not (but seems appropriate). However, we launched a similar forum topic for Urban Meyer...but DIDN'T for Ruffin. We lost the later game. Pretty sure it had nothing to do with coaching, schemes or execution...it was because we didn't make fun of their coach.

Some others to think about:

CPJ says "a whole 'nuther".
CPJ wears black socks, pulled up to his knees, at the beach with sandals.
CPJ thinks Jim Tressel's vest is "a cool fashion statement".
CPJ uses a typewriter.
CPJ calls TV "the picture radio".
CPJ thinks Lane Stadium is "just too loud".

GO HOKIES!

Alumni Hosted Tailgates for the Duke and UNC games

First of all, I want to thank Joe for allowing us to advertise for these events on here. It was a priority to make sure he was ok with it before we even signed up for the account, and to his credit, he has been far more gracious than we expected.

Quick Stats to brighten your post-loss Monday

Earlier today, someone posted that UVA could still go 2-10, since every year they seem to win one game they have no business winning, which someone else helpfully pointed out meant that Miami might actually beat them for the 2nd year in a row. That got me thinking, has Miami fared better against UVA than any other Coastal team since expansion in 2004? Well, I tallied up the results since then, and it's surprisingly uniform:

Since the start of the 2004 season, UVA is:

5-5 against Duke
5-5 against Georgia Tech
5-5 against Miami
5-5 against UNC
5-5 against Maryland (thrown in since they played every year)
1-2 against Pitt (0-1 as a conference foe)
0-10 against Virginia Tech

Allstate #ItsGood2Be campaign

I don't have a twitter, but the Hokies are dominating this campaign through week 3. If you tweet, keep the support coming, and if you're like me, I might start one up to keep the scholarship money coming to the good guys.

Story from Saturday

I know we're all fairly bummed about the way the game against ECU turned out. But as others have noted on here, this is a young team that will take some time to reach its full potential. I can't wait to be in Lane this weekend cheering with 66,000 other Hokies as we take on GT. Also pumped that my parents, girlfriend, and some Lynchburg friends who "have never been to a real college football game", in their words, get to join me.

WR Outlook 2014

I wanted to start a post and get everyone thinking what will/could happen as we go deeper into the year. We all saw what happened this weekend with the drops from some vet players and then some amazing catches by freshmen.

Isaiah Ford- Love this kid, he really knows how to run a route and isn't afraid to take a hit. Hands might be one of the best on the teams. I expect him to continue to develop into a huge role for Lefty and the offense. He seems to be an all around good WR- can go deep, across the middle. I think his best area is the deep outs/post routes.

Desmond Frye Out For Season

Tough Break for Desmond. Hoping he has a smooth recovery and is back returning pick-sixes next year.

When It's Good...

In the last two weeks, we've watched a roller coaster of Virginia Tech football games.

In one, we watched our QB throw for almost 300 yards while dominating time of possession by over 13 minutes. We frustrated them into over 100 yards in penalties. Our defense held them to only converting 5 of their 15 third downs, and made them punt more times than they have in a single game in two years.
