So Ty Dillon driver of the #3 Camaro in the XFINITY Series, along with a VP from Bristol Speedway and Derek Vaughan, Engineer and Director of Race Strategy, Richard Childress Racing (VT Class of '98) came to camp today.
Obviously just part of the buildup the BATTLE AT BRISTOL. But we got some great stuff out of it!

"Well, we used to go downhill running and then we got to this wide-zone and mid-zone kind of stuff. That kind of changed up how our mentality was, I guess. Now, we're back to downhill running and moving the rock, I think that's a huge part of why we have that new discovered toughness and meanness about us." - Wyatt Teller
What did everyone think of this comment? French? Anyone? Is this an indictment on Newsome / Grimes / Loefller or someone else entirely? Or is this what Searles is all about?
Did our blocking philosophy change last year? Is this what led to JC's success the last 4 games of the season?
Regardless, me likey. Wyatt getting downhill is a scary thought.

#Hokies AD Whit Babcock said, yes, there have been inquiries about getting Metallica on campus and, no, they won't play Blacksburg soon.โ Norm Wood (@normwood) August 11, 2015
BeameBall.com spoke with former Tech offensive lineman Sergio Render (http://www.beamerball.com/free/news.htm). Render returned to Blacksburg after pursuing an NFL career and a stint as a police officer. His current goal is to become a pro fisherman, and I figured I'd share because fishing is relevant to many TKPers.
BeamerBall.com: That doesn't surprise me one bit. Anybody who's spent any time around you knows being outdoors is your thing. I also know that you don't just talk about becoming a pro angler, you're also taking the appropriate steps.

David Hale has us #4 in the preseason power rankings.
4. Virginia Tech Hokies: Slowly but surely, the Virginia Tech bandwagon appears to be growing. There is little doubt the Hokies will have one of the nation's best defenses (though the loss of C.J. Reavis hurts), but there seems to be increased enthusiasm that the offense can finally turn things around, too.

Unfortunately I have a new job for which I work every single weekend in the fall. I figure there has to be a number of people out there with a similar problem. How do you all keep up with the greatest team and sport on earth? I have a dvr so i can record games and watch them the night of. I also minimally use social media so i can avoiding hearing details of the games until i watch them if that's the strategy I plan to employ. My question is, are the games nearly as interesting if you know the outcome has already been devided? I enjoy rewatching some of the great games Ive already seen, but that seems different.
Today was the first work in shoulder pads, so we got some contact.
First clips were of seven on seven skeleton work. The highlight came on a play action design. Cam Phillips motioned almost to a wingback alignment, appeared to fake a slant, and then broke on a quick out to the right flat. Brandon Facyson jumped the route and knocked the pass away. It was a pretty play.
Hey everyone. On Monday, I appeared on ESPN Blacksburg and discussed the Hokies' quarterbacks, and shared observations about the couple of short clips shared from the first few days of Hokie practice.
