Football Forum
Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.
I created this account just to congratulate you guys on a game well played. Sure there were a few mistakes on both sides.. But..
As a Buckeye homer, my first tendency was to lay blame for the loss, on our O-line, and the play calling. But that would be a disservice to Va Tech. Bud Foster showed everyone why he is one of the best Coordinators out there. Your kids played great. And the Va Tech fans that I met last night were a lot of fun to hang out with. Some even tailgated with us for a while.
Although I'm disappointed with the loss.. I still, thoroughly enjoyed the night. Looking forward to the return trip next year so you can repay the favor. Haha.

The guy played and coached at Meeechigan, and now he strolls into the 'Shoe, an unassuming underdog with the "lowly" Hokies. And, he executes a *very* nice game plan. I'm no X's and O's guy, but I know football. And he executed an excellent game plan against a top-5 national OSU defense.
Brewer, our OL, WRs/TEs will get much of the credit. And well-deserved it is. But, let's remember what Lefty did here. It was an excellent game plan. And, I am convinced we are starting to see what Lefty and the O staff can do now that we have the "Jimmy and Joe's" to go with his "X's and O's".
He must be on cloud-9!
Go HOKIES!!!!

Proud to be a Hokie. I had a good feeling about this game going into it, but I was still nervous about it. I loved the way this team stepped up. We knew that the defense would play well and that Bud would have the team ready to shut OSU down. We looked fast and knew what we were doing due to great coaching. We pressured the QB and our secondary was ready to jump on passes.
A few thoughts:

We just watched an Offensive Line keep our QB off his butt against an elite defensive line over the course of 60 minutes on the road in front of the largest, most hostile road crowd Virginia Tech has ever faced. If you told me 2 years ago that our Offensive Line would be a major catalyst to a win over a Top 10 Ohio State in The Shoe, I would have told you that you were insane.
I am just staggered by the word that he has put in this year (and a lot of credit also has to go to Grimes). Offensive Line looks like it might actually be a promising position going forward after being the single biggest team weakness over a decade.
So, to Mr Searels, I offer to you....

I felt the need and obligation to share this little run-in I had last night on High St in Columbus at 2am.
Ohio State fan on the streets after the game: Yo, who is number 45?
Me: That would be Sam Rogers.
Ohio State fan: That guy is an absolute STUD.
Yer damn straight! Read em and weep!

Ok, HokieNation. This was a great win for all Hokie fans. Where does it rank to you in our all time games?

Saw this post on Facebook on The Marching Virginians facebook page...
As if playing Tech Triumph and making a big VT during pregame wasn't enough, The Ohio State University Marching Band also played Tech Triumph after the game. Unbelievably classy. Thank you, folks!

Thank you, Ohio State. This is truly a first class move. Looking forward to meeting your students, alumni, and fans in Blacksburg next year!

This win was new boobies, old bourbon, and not getting ripped off buying a decent and hopefully dependable new car all baked into one incredible cake that we needed to eat like no team has ever needed a cake. I'm not even sure this is an overreaction, either. Everyone knows our struggles, everyone knows the kool aid that ESPN was helping the nation drink coming into the Colombus last night. Only a few people started putting salt in their drinks starting yesterday, paving the way for maybe-a-win. Maybe a close game. Well they keep saying that close only counts in horse, shoes, and hand grenades, right?

(The complete game will be up later today at the same link below as well)
Besides highlights, I also have videos for the offense, defense, special teams/kicking (coming soon), running game and passing game. There will hopefully be a couple more if I get the time to do them.

After such a monumental game, full of emotion and surprise, I'm so happy the Hokies were finally able to pull the big win over a prestigious college football program. As a student who came in under the Logan Thomas Era, I was hoping to see the much acclaimed Tech football program in Lane Stadium as a student of this university. With an overpowering defense and a productive offense, we propelled ourselves back to the national stage. To top it off, it was so exciting to see many students coming together downtown to celebrate the win and come together as one big Hokie community. 2014 is going to be a big year and I can't wait to see us go undefeated with a confident quarterback Michael Brewer.

Great work by the hokies tonight. I know a couple of smug tOSU fans that I want to remind of the fact that we just broke a whole bunch of streaks at tOSU in front of the largest crowd ever at their school. But I won't.....tonight....because we're not friends on FB....yet.
