So I see in Twitter and through other sources that Tech is extending numerous offers. 2018 and 2019 seem to be the most common. What I'm wondering is how this works in terms of priorities and guys they would truly take. By my count there are over 100 offers out for the 2018 class alone. Do we tell guys that "Here is your offer, commit now, or once we take a commitment your offer might disappear?" I'm unclear on how this works and we can extend so many offers and what happens if guys start committing, and how you manage the number of players you want to take at each position. Thoughts?

I was just looking on 247 and under our 2018 DT offers it lists Brian Caine as a walk-on commit. I'm not on twitter or any of those sites, has anyone else heard anything about this?
Here's the 247 link

George visited Virginia Tech unofficially this school year and immediately loved the campus, he said in a recent phone interview. He plans to take an official visit over the summer.
He developed a quick connection with Penn State offensive recruiting coordinator Josh Gattis, and the two text regularly.
Friends on the North Carolina football team have described the atmosphere in Chapel Hill as one where George could excel, he said. A Louisville assistant coach began recruiting George years ago when he was at West Virginia, and maintained a strong connection after joining the Cardinals' staff.

There's a commit inbound.

So it wasn't quite the month that we were all hoping for recruiting wise with the close of Spring practice, there were a decent number of names from the last list that committed elsewhere (Jamal Elliot, Dyami Brown, Antwan Reed, Jamarcus Chatman, Payton Wilson) and we didn't quite have the rush of commits we would have hoped for, but we did get a re-commit from DeJuan Ellis after a brief de-committment, and recently added WR Darryle Simmons who is actually our highest rated recruit of the class so far, so not all is lost. I'm wondering if a lot of recruits may be in a wait and see mode to see if the Fuente-Foster union is as amazing as we all hope, or if last year was more of a fluke.

So this is the first full recruiting cycle that I have really paid attention to and something I have been wondering is who our main recruiting rivals are. I decided to look at all the offers we sent out last recruiting class and see where every recruit ended up signing. I made a list and also included the schools average recruit composite score according to 247. I thought about going back more than just one year but it would be pretty time consuming and with a mostly new coaching staff it might be comparing apples to oranges. The list is organized according to the number of recruits the school landed (that also had VT offers) with the average composite score in parentheses.

Unfortunately there are no new commits to report from the last month, but we are in the mix for a lot of great recruits. As a reminder, this is meant to be a realistic list of who we might be able to land based on perceived interest (warm on 247, Crystal Ball leader, in the top group, recent visit, etc.). The list goes name, position, 247 composite ranking, 247 composite score, notes.
Current Commits:
Chamarri Conner.....S..........3......0.8834
DeJuan Ellis................QB......3......0.8770
Quincy Patterson....QB......3......0.8596
Bryce Thompson....ATH....3......0.8577
Nasir Peoples............S..........3......0.8316

Incoming VT freshmen Dylan Rivers and Zion Debose are on campus today along with a very talented group of 2018 recruiting targets. Debose posted a little sneak peak of the scrimmage on his twitter.
Top running back target Jamal Elliott has tweeted that he will be on campus today.

Can't really embed anything from Twitter because its blocked here at work, but it looks like we just rolled out a NC2VT campaign on Twitter from both HokiesFB and VT_Football talking some serious smack about our recent domination in both recruiting and on the field in NC.
Looks like we're going for the full press this year, folks. Should be fun. Hey, maybe they can send down some freebies to us Hokies already down here in the state to show off how we've basically annexed the region anyway?

So I posted a similar post a month ago, creating a wishlist of recruits for this next cycle. I have been keeping track of the changes and thought it might be fun to do this monthly to see how it changes throughout the year. As a reminder, this is a list of recruits that it seems like we have a realistic shot at (warm and/or crystal balls on 247, recently visited VT, in their top list, etc.) and also tries to address our needs in the next class.

6'4", 230 lb 3-star dual threat quarterback, 14 power-5 offers. Looking like a Hokie. Beat out UNC, UVA, Miss State, Penn State. It's also great to beat out Syracuse for QBs, because Dino Babers is looking for good ones.
Also holds offers from Yale and Princeton, indicating that he must be very cerebral.
Thoughts:
Probably our best running QB on the roster. Very good lateral ability, and definitely not afraid of contact.

I posted last week about a wishlist for upcoming recruits, and 1 comment about needing to aim higher (specifically about OL) made me dream big. With that in mind, I compiled a "dream class" for next year. In doing this, I tried to mostly pick recruits who have some sort of tie to VT already (warm on 247, from VA or border state, HS teammates with current Hokies/commits, etc). So while I wouldn't call this class realistic, it is also more than just picking the highest rated player at every position. I also had a little fun and brainstormed how/why they would choose VT.
So without further ado, here is our 2018 (dream) recruiting class:

So after all of the recruiting excitement earlier this month I feel like I have been on withdrawal, so I figured I would start a new thread.
I was looking through 247 at our 2018 offers and tried to make a wish list of who my gut tells me we have a somewhat realistic shot at getting, as well as keeping in mind our needs for the next class, which I consider DT, CB, and OL (we have a lot of bodies there, but I think one part of taking the next step as a program is getting better on the O-Line).

I'm a bit surprised, honestly.
