Missed D-LINE recruits

Did anyone else just sit back and think what could have been while watching all the near misses on the defensive and offensive lines for Clemson and Florida State.

Nnadi, Sweat and Ferrell were all over the TV makes plays, could you imagine that line supplemented with the great players we already have? Also, I noticed Elerbe (from VA) and Dickerson (another had VT in the top 3 guy) on the FSU line. Even if we just got 1 or 2 of those guys, it would be crazy to think how much better and deeper we would be.

On a side note, but still on d-line recruiting lets keep our eyes on Crosby with the TENN situation, also what ever happened to Taylor, the other d-lineman from Richmond that went to TENN, does he play?

Another Supercharged Ford In Our Future?

As first reported by 247sports, Devyn Ford (Class of 2019 No. 2 Running Back from Stafford, VA) is especially high up on the Hokies.

Stated in the article, he would prefer to play in a spread offense.

Related to this article, and in recruiting in general, I believe that if we continue to show promise in this new offense, we are going to see other big names start to turn our way. Any news like this is sure to grab the attention of other recruits.

Keep on doing your thing Hokies!

Per 247sports.com, Devyn Ford High on Hokies

2017 RB Jalen Holston Visited Virginia Tech Saturday, Minor Update

Virginia Tech's top target at running back, Stockbridge, GA product Jalen Holston, visited Blacksburg on Saturday.

Holston's mom made the trip with him, and many recruitniks thought the Hokies, the leaders in his recruitment, might earn his commitment on the trip. Intrigue rose when Holston reached out to blue-chip safety Devon Hunter, another top Hokies target in the 2017 class.

Tyrod Taylor's influence on recruiting

By now everyone has heard the news: Tyrod signed a 6 year/90 MILLION DOLLAR contract extension with the Bills.

Virginia Tech/Justin Fuente can now point to: Michael Vick, Tyrod Taylor, Andy Dalton, and 2016 first round pick Paxton Lynch for the QB position alone. That importance of this cannot be understated. Our beloved program and Coach Fuente have built a pretty impressive portfolio of NFL QB talent.

We already have a 4* QB on the books for the 2017 class and another one has already given his pledge for 2018.

What do you guys think? Personally, I think the combination of Tyrod's extension and Coach Fuente's proven ability to develop talent is going to help our offensive recruiting as a whole immensely.

August Recruiting- Football, Bourbon, Beer & Charcoal is in the air

Well its finally August... we made it!!!!!!!!!!!! The roller-coaster that is called recruiting has hit its ups and downs and flips but Fuente is quietly building depth and addressing some glaring needs while also getting out on the trail for the years to come.

VT has 14th Ranked Men's Golf Recruit

In the spirit of golf today, I wanted to highlight that we have one of the top recruits in the world for college golf. I'm not sure if this is a reputable source but according to this website, VT has commitments from the 14th, 76th, and 372nd ranked players.

According to HokieSports, the 14th ranked recruit, Sarit Suwannarut, recently won a pro tour event in Thailand.

Given the recent news of the ACC Network, I would love to see more coverage of non Football & Basketball ACC sports.

247 really likes the 2017 class

I know we all have a tendency to overreact or under-react (if that is possible) to the ebbs and flows of the early recruiting cycle. Steve Wiltfong of 247 seems to like what Fuente & Co. have done so far as it relates to the needs that have been addressed and to the potential of some of these underrated players.

I for one think that we will look back and see that this was a great first cycle (if you don't count last year) for the staff, even without landing some of the key guys we all wanted to see in Orange and Maroon.

Here's to building!

Is Nick Saban, or Alabama's Recruiting Staff, the worst recruiting staff this year?

I mean just look at this

4* 2017 MS RB Cam Akers decommits from Alabama
2018 4-star OT Dare Rosenthal decommits from Alabama

and then this

"I told coach Saban about my official visits," Leatherwood said. "He was like, 'Have fun.'"

Five-star offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood will be involved in a tug-of-war this year, as the nation's No. 9 overall prospect committed to the Crimson Tide in early June

I think I can see the lit torches in Tuscaloosa from Blacksburg

July Recruiting - Better Days Ahead

Alright so July got off to a rocky start.... but there's tons of time to still bring in some quality talent at needed positions. The past few weeks have been pretty quiet with most coaches around the nation attending camps and getting ready for Fall. I would expect some more offers to go out shortly so this months is a little bare. As always will definitely update this as more news is available.
