Hey all- quick recruiting update here in lieu of a big old post.
The Hokies are holding another junior day, though on a smaller scale than the one earlier this month.
I started poking around to assemble another large list, but it would seem that only a handful of 2017 prospects will be making it to campus this weekend:
Jason Brown
George Brown

He only played 4 games his junior year due to eligibility issues, (he went from a private school to a public school and it was some sort of violation there). He like D, but was asked to play QB his senior year. Not the best 40 time, but he can play a bit.
Just thought he might be of interest to someone.
Oh, and he's a good wrestler too. He's in the KS state championships right now.

UT Jr....?
I kinda wanted him....
CLARIFICATION: Does anyone have any info on him? I had originally thought VT felt good about their chances with him. Now I hear UT is confident. I know it's early...just was surprised to hear the new info...was curious if anyone else had a thought.
And apparently there was a CB for him to UT on 247.

Forgive me if there has already been a thread about this. I searched his name and the only threads about him were over half a year ago. Does he still plan on coming here? I follow him on Twitter and his bio says Virginia Tech commit and during his original recruitment he was all about VT and tweeting at other recruits to get on board. Now he tweets his highlights at various coaches for the most part. Did we take his offer off the table? Does he still have a spot here if he manages to qualify? Do we have another Drew Harris on our hands?
Once again, my apologies if this has already been addressed, I did attempt a search before I posted this.

Ocean Lakes hires new football coach
After a month-long search, King's Fork's Joe Jones has been hired as Ocean Lakes High School's football coach, principal Cheryl C. Askew told the Pilot on Monday.
Jones replaces Chris Scott, who last month left Ocean Lakes after eight seasons to become head coach at Bishop Sullivan Catholic in Virginia Beach.
Jones was 44-45 in eight seasons at King's Fork - 6-6 this past season. He led the Bulldogs to playoff appearances in each of the last four seasons.

I keep hearing "Recruiting Recruiting Recruiting" and frankly, I am a bit frustrated with it. While I would like to see bigger, stronger, fast guys across the board (as would every team in the country), talent evaluation and player development to me is a bigger concern. Too many guys (especially on defense) didn't improve. I don't know who to cast blame on that- those kids not putting in the work, poor culture cultivated by the team leaders and staff, or the scheme. VT isn't just getting their butt kicked in recruiting- lately talent evaluation and especially player development seems to have fallen off.
