Chazmyn Turner , 2/3 star DE prospect who is committed to Purdue will take an official visit to VT on the 30th.
Apparently he did really well at the NC-SC Shrine Bowl and raised his stock a bit. Vanderbilt, WVU and VT have all showed interest, but have not offered yet.
My guess is an offer will follow after the visit but we'll have to wait and see.
An early signing period is one step closer to happening: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/dennis-dodd/24978192.
Pete Roussel of coachingsearch.com asked Beamer for his thoughts on the subject last April.
Pulling Johnson out of Atlantic in Delray Beach, Florida would be a huge get for the staff at the end of the recruiting cycle. Given the competition, I'm not holding my breath.
Gaines mentioned when he committed that he'd be taking his official visits, and here we go.

And the walls left around the state of Virginia are slowly falling.
http://hamptonroads.com/2015/01/penn-state-odu-will-host-camp-norfolk
The Penn State and Old Dominion football coaching staffs will jointly host a high school camp this spring in Norfolk, an event ODU coach Bobby Wilder says will bring dozens of highly-rated recruits to campus.
"This will help both programs," [ODU quarterbacks coach Ron Whitcomb] said. "Penn State likes to recruit this area and bringing their entire staff here can only help them."
Keep an eye on Forest Park (Woodbridge, VA) WR Eric Kumah.
Obviously, nowadays whenever a recruit commits to a certain team, other commits give loves to that recruit on social media (cough cough twitter) and this commitment is no different.

I know we had a recruiting thread but it was getting long. After all the let downs these past couple of years with in state recruits leaving I'm really hoping he picks the good guys. Game is a 4 PM eastern time. I've posted a list of other Virginia recruits who are playing in the game.
1. Tim Settle- picks today (VT,Louisville, USC)
2. Clelin Ferrell --Richmond, VA--committed to Clemson
3. Josh Sweat--Chesapeake, VA---committed to FSU
4. Garret Taylor--Richmond, VA---committed to Penn St.
5. Marcus Lewis-- Wash. DC ---decommitted from VT, considering (Miami, UK, Wash St, Ole Miss)
No clue how to evaluate talent, but the kid seems fast and hard to tackle. Besides, how sweet would it be to have the grandson of a sports legend like Ali as a Hokie.
The play at 1:15 when he just trucks a dude. He's definitely fast and decisive enough to be effective on the zone read. There seems to be plenty of zip on the ball when he needs it, and he's quite accurate with his ball placement, especially outside of the pocket.

Should high school kids and college athletes be allowed to have an agent? Not being allowed to seek professional advice while sharks are swimming the waters after these kids seems fundamentally wrong. I know some agents may be scum, but do the negatives outweigh the positives?
Honest thoughts?
