Gotta laugh at those that are ready to burn the place down over this hire. The Buzz hire was a shock, and honestly, was out of our league. He took a basement dwelling ACC team, and turned us into a flash in the pan competitor. We have no established history of success, the main guys who led us to that success are all gone next year.

Whoever we hired was likely to have a rough next 2 or so seasons, restocking the cupboards. Give the dude a shot.

If by "never played again", you mean played professionally in europe, then yes, you're right...Barksdale never played again.

My only doubt with this Willard thing, Whit said "Anything that's leaked out there has a motive."....so obviously we're hiring someone that has not been linked to the job yet.

Calipari to VT, book it!

If it ends up being Willard, Whit is obviously aware of the whole FBI thing...you'd have to think for Whit to even entertain hiring him, he would have to be 100% certain that nothing could come back to bite him.

I'm good with it

Pretty much, in terms of importance of a coaching hire, it's gonna be between football and basketball.

I'll just say, I agree with you, I enjoy more than just the two big ones, but in terms of importance to the school, none of the other outweigh, or come close to outweighing football and basketball

Agreed 100%. And the NCAA has nothing to do with that, that's an NBA ruling.

If a kid is talented enough, and has the body to endure playing with grown men, let him go make his money. If he isn't there yet, he can:

1) Play college ball, abide by the rules, maybe make it to the NBA
2) Go play overseas, get paid, maybe make it to the NBA one day
3) Play in the G league for table scraps, maybe make it to the NBA one day

Okay, let's do away with scholarships and pay the players instead. As Louisville's AD how much are you paying Jamie Vasilous, the sophomore setter on the women's volleyball team?

or Jack Fasteen, freshman midfielder, for mens soccer?
