Up tempo offenses try to use pace to get an advantage on the defense. Going down interrupts that pace. It's a chess match between offense and defense. If there offense can set pace, so can the defense. If an offense can only win by playing up tempo, they have an exploitable weakness, and it would be did l stupid for a defensive coordinator to not exploit that weakness.

To me, this is a little different than flopping in soccer. You aren't doing it to try to get a penalty on the opponent, you're doing it to control the tempo of the game. That's fair game.

On the other hand, if Fuente tries to push tempo this season at any point and an opposing defense does the same to us, that's fair game. You can't have it both ways.

Off the top of my head, one drive was killed by a young receiver losing track of where the line to make was as he came back for the ball, and another was done in by an air-mailed snap. And a TD was taken off the board because our receiver couldn't get his toe drag down inbounds. All of this in a game where the offense was never in a position to have to try and force anything.

I also still say FSU tweaked something on defense after our first series, because McClease had a much harder time running between the tackles after that first drive. I'm still waiting for a film review on the offense to see if I'm right.

All this to say, what I saw wasn't an incompetent or struggling offense. It was an offense that has some wrinkles to work out after their first game, and a young receiving corps that needs to develop a relationship with their QB.

To me, it seemed like the offensive problems revolved around our run game drying up after the first series. McClease looked unstoppable during the first touchdown run, and then at the drop of a hat it seemed like he was getting met at the line on almost every carry. I want to read some analysis you see if FSU tweaked something to stop the run.

I can't fault JJ's game. He played mistake-free football and made some great throws. I think we'll see good things from him this season.

God that's fucking stupid. How many great coordinators and position coaches have been ignored over the years? Dabo Swinney is probably a lock for the HoF, and does anyone think he did this all on his own?

Picked up a bottle of this stuff in Lexington on my way back home before the game yesterday. It's pretty tasty.

The long, dark off-season is over. Twelve of my favorite days of the year are upon us.

LET'S. FUCKING. GO.

I will never root for Pitt as long as Nardouche is there, but that's more hating the coach than the program.

I hate UNC with the burning passion of a thousand suns. I know I'm supposed to hate LOLUVA more, but UNC has perfected the "public ivy" douchebaggery that UVA strives for while simultaneously being cheating pieces of shit.

Best dissolving sweetener I've found in cold beverages is Splenda in the big bag. I'm not sure how it's different than the packets, but the big bag of Splenda is lighter and I guess the best word would be flakier than the packets, and as soon as it hits liquid it just sort of fizzes a little and then dissolves instantly.

Just FYI.

Just to clarify, I will absolutely watch every game this season. Just like I do every season. But if my hunch proves correct and we struggle this year, the pervasive negativity of the live game threads when we aren't playing well brings zero added value to my KPC membership.

Also, do you really think my comment about this shaping up to be a rough season is isolated to Cam Goode being released? Consider this just the cherry on top of the shit sundae that has been this off-season.

I'm sure the team nutritionist had an aneurysm over this. There is basically no better form of protein you can get your hands on than boneless, skinless chicken breast.

Agreed there. Was just wondering since the timing is suspect. Loses his future position coach, new guy is hired, a little while later we lose our top recruit at the position.
