Illinois Hokie's Recent Comments
Go look at the Game Thread.
I think you've inadvertently stumbled onto the key distinction to be made in this unfortunate circumstance. While it sounds cliche to say, it's not what you said, it's how you said it, in this case it's applicable. Game threads are for stream of consciousness observations, as are vent threads. Had the content of dcw's post been submitted as a comment in either of those two places, we aren't having this conversation now. But that's not what he did, because that message wasn't just about venting frustration. He created a new thread that did not foster any meaningful new conversation, and he did it just as much to antagonize anyone on the site who disagrees with his position as he did to express frustration over an embarrassing loss. He wanted more visibility than a comment in a megathread allows because he wasn't just criticizing Foster but also taking a swipe at his dissenters.
It's also not the first time this season he's taken that approach. He had a post a couple weeks ago asking if GT's passing numbers in a game qualified as efficient. He's basically been keeping all the arguments that originated with his comments after the Miami loss last season at a simmer through that kind of posting behavior, and it eventually boiled over.
The reaction to his post last night wasn't pretty, but it was exactly the outcome he intended. He picked a fight and he got one. He poked the bear one too many times.
Lovie rocking the beard. I would love to see Illinois pull this one out.
I think you might be dismissing Clemson's win at Kyle Field a bit prematurely. Depending on how aTm does in conference, that might wind up being Clemson's ticket to the playoffs over a second (or third) SEC team.
Doubtful. Hezekiah Grimsley has already had some blocks about this vicious so far this season. Ward hit below the shoulders and from the front. I don't think this draws a flag in today's game.
I've thought this all along. Boasting about curb stomping UNC during Hurricane Matthew when a massive, potentially catastrophic storm is bearing down on the east coast is just puerile. It would have been unacceptable even without the ECU cancellation kerfuffle.
No, no, no. There's a Hurricane Florence. Hurricane Clause would have been three hurricanes ago.
There's a "renegade cut" that's technically canon. They remove all references to the planet Zeist and any mention of the immortals being aliens. But it's better just to pretend it doesn't exist.
Oh God. That's the worst idea since Highlander 2.
ECU has a conference game that Saturday against UCF. Only way this game gets made up is if we don't make the ACCCG.
ECU has a conference game against UCF on that Saturday.
This is offseason-caliber shitposting. Well done.
Two things.
First, we don't need our QB1 to be Jesus in cleats anymore, because we have a competent offensive staff with a viable system. The reason we're so brainwashed to think we have to have a razzle dazzle QB is because that was our only chance for offensive success under the old regime.
Second, Vance Vice is the hero we need, but not the hero we deserve.
We still ran for three bills. I don't care that it was by committee.
We didn't lose to Syracuse. We lost to the Carrier Dome.
Time to adjust my expectations upward, fam.
I love kicking the shit out of the teams we're supposed to kick the shit out off.
Also, LOLFSU, Bill & Mary scored a touchdown against us and you couldn't.
Godspeed, Turd Ferguson.
After rewatching these, holy shit does Hezekiah Grimsley like to hit people.
I want to stitch them all into a quilt and take a long nap.
And FSU faked having a P5 offense.
This gets so overlooked. It's not a fake injury be real injury dichotomy. There is nothing wrong with telling your players, "If you need to come out because you don't feel 100% for the next snap, sit down." Especially in the heat and humidity of central Florida in early September.
Youthful overenthusiasm. That should be fairly easy for Wiggins to get sorted out, though I wouldn't be surprised to see it a bunch against W&M, just because there isn't a ton of time to study film during the short week.
Look, I have no problem that it happened, and it was the smart way to play FSU. But that was a push off by Kumah. He extended his elbows, that's the flag. Keep those elbows tight, it's a no flag. The DB sold it, sure, but what he was selling was offensive PI. Kumah will learn what he can get away with, and will be better because of it.
If an offense substitutes, the officials will stand over the ball and prevent the center from snapping it until the defense can sub. Not giving the defense a chance to sub when the offense isn't subbing doesn't seem inherently unfair to me.

That was indeed Alum07's first comment in the thread. However, for the sake of context, I think it's important to note that prior to him making that comment, dcwilson40 had already made these comments elsewhere in the comments section:
He was already getting personal and combative before Alum07's chimed in, and the invitation Alum07 extended might have had as much to do with that as with the original content of the post.
