If they finish 10-3 ranked or high up in RV, Rahne will probably get a long look from some lower P4 schools. Not saying that's right because their schedule wasnt exactly murderer's row but its the reality of the environment with 12-15 openings potentially at P4.
ACC could have 4 positions open for firing and if Wake wins out an opening if Dickert gets hired away.
Big12 has one OkSt with two more hot seats. Crazy how the wheels fell off the bus at UCF and Colorado has to be looking. May have a couple get picked off for P2 jobs with all the SEC openings.
Big 10 you have UCLA and Penn St open and five other schools that have 5-7 conference losses already with 2-3 games to go.
SEC could have as many as six or seven jobs change over but four are already open with Florida/Auburn/LSU/Arkansas. Kentucky is one to watch.
Hell even SCAR has to be thinking about it with the EPIC collapse of the Gamecocks. From preseason #13 to 3-6 (1-6). Shane has to beat Klempson or his seat heat gets turned on high. They likely get destroyed on the road this weekend by #3 A&M. They close with CCU and Klempson. 5-7 maybe not as hot but 4-8 with a loss to the Tigers is not a good place to be.
Their QB was pretty good.
These days? Yes.
They brought him in for more consistent results than Wilder could deliver. 5-7 this year wouldnt have cost him his job, but I think it would have made next year make or break for him.
It's turning into a pretty decent season for them though so all of that falls by the wayside anyway
Edit: and Wilder got a lot of leeway because he brought the program back and got them into Conference USA from FCS. Rahne won't get nearly as much slack
My thinking is if he isn't on the hot seat, Franklin really is there just to support him
(and maybe recruiting some players)
If so that would be pretty bold with their poor history especially since they have only been in Sun Belt for 4 years. He will have taken them bowling in three out of five seasons as head coach. They have only one other bowl appearance.
Yeah it was very seesaw but they never could get the lead in 3rd or 4th quarter. Tied it a couple times but would then go flat again.
Maybe he's there recruiting Seller
I agree, I think he's safe now, but if they hadn't made bowl eligibility this year I think there would be a lot of rumbling
And they did lose, 61-56.
They will be 7-3 after tonight and face two teams with losing records to close out. In 12 years at D1 level, ODU had one magical season in 2016 at 10-3. Other than that, the other 10 seasons are 6-6 or worse. I don't think he is at risk.
Was Pry in tow like the ⚓️ he is?
ODU is spending more time in Troy's backfield than the Troy running backs so far
Thank goodness its basketball season...

Looking forward to Klempson losing again tomorrow night though. Feels dirty to cheer for Loserville though. Probably will come down to...

They haven't shown him on TV. David Teel spoke with him and there was a Twitter video of him walking around earlier (though it's been taken down)
Edit: they mentioned him on the broadcast now
I only tuned in at the end of the 1st, and have been casually watching... Still haven't seen Franklin
Because we need a little something to distract us from all the James Franklin rumors...
Watching the Troy-ODU game... With Franklin in attendance coached by two former Franklin guys
SMU women almost being doubled up tonight by Texas Tech. 84-46 with 7 minutes to go.
Pitt men got destroyed by WVU 71-49.
Sounds like someone who's made up his mind and is waiting on his agent & attorney to hammer-out the details.
UVA women trying to lose to UMBC. Where have I seen that before?

Defensively not a bad evening but they basically had several inches height advantage at every spot on the floor so rebounds came easy and they forced a ton of turnovers.
Offensively though against a team that should have been a clinic in how to run the set plays just wasnt there. Not enough movement without the basketball, poor shot selection, basic positioning issues (especially Carys Baker). Turnovers weren't bad but there were many times they had to fight to keep the ball after making basic execution errors in the dribbling/passing game. This definitely was a game they should have shot close to 60% but instead we saw 37.2% from floor (29/78) and 23.5% from 3 (8/34). Against a team like this and most games in general anything over 25 attempts from outside is concerning.
If it wasnt for the offensive rebounds turning into free throws this game could have been much different. They got 21 points at the line and grabbed 30 offensive boards.
All in all I give it a C-, especially for the 2nd Quarter. Play like they did tonight against two/thirds of the ACC and they get run off the floor.
Freelon was a one woman wrecking crew on rebounds though with 18.
He's not been great, though this year is looking better. The Tech win was big and this season is a big improvement overall.
His seat was probably warm in August, not so much now
Is Rahne's job in jeopardy?
Do G5 HCs leave willingly to be a coordinator often?
Didn't realize Parker worked for him too.
Maybe he's doing a twofer
Edit: or maybe he is just enjoying seeing two of his former colleagues coach, it isnt like he gets to go to a lot of football games where he isn't working

Not even with Franks RedHot? It's made for anything.
