You mean the completely above board and not at all ill-thought out partnership with Raycom sports that Swofford guided wasn't a master class in how to run a conference??

We've been watching exactly this happen for the last 15+ years

Some people say the SEC has benefited from anything between preferential treatment and quidproquo/conspiracy.

I think ACC fans underestimate how frequently the conference has shot itself in the foot over the last two decades

11th in NFCA
14th in ESPN/USA Softball
12th in D1
Softball America has not released a poll this week.

I think Tobi has better potential but will likely spend at least a year or two in the G League working on improving his perimeter shot. His outside shot is still much better than Deron ever managed. Tobi also was a much better rebounder than Washington. His lane positioning and standing vertical give him an edge over Deron there.

A big reason I think his potential is higher is that the NBA game has changed significantly since Deron tried to break in with the Pistons.

17 years ago, Detroit was set on trying to get Washington to play inside. His size and build is a much better fit for a 3 spot. Todays NBA wont even attempt to make Lawal consistently go up against big body 4/5s and will work to develop him as a 3. Athleticism between them is extremely similar but I do think Tobi has an edge in his ability to play the lob game and pick/roll offensive sets. Thats one area Young under-utilized Tobi.

Deron was able to carve out a really solid career in Europe and Israel and if Tobi cant find a consistent 3 shot that will likely be his path as well. Deron played pro basketball for 12 years, most of it in Serie A in Italy.

It's the most "me" thing ever that I now have a passing desire to go deep on researching who provides these tables, how they are stored/transported, how ESPN decides which locations have locally stored ones vs. the travel versions, etc.

"Top 16 seeds..."???
Every poll has VT inside top 15 and every poll has L$U lower than 15.? I guess the seeding is just some subjective bullshit by a 3 man committee from the $ec and e$pn

Still says ESPN+ on my computer and on the Hokie Sports site. Either way, whateverthehell you wanna call it...I still don't get it and will have to listen to the game on the computer. Whooopeeeee!!

It is awfully hard to believe we would be able to beat out UGA for a top 100 recruit. But hey bring on this new era of hokie recruiting

ESPN++ was right there, were they worried WG21 would attempt to sue? I don't think they have standing to do so.

Sounds like a two horse race between us and UGA, though there's some mixed reporting that Penn St might be back in it. Initially some people said they were in it, but backed off that so they had bad info. Then some new rumblings they might be making a late push for real. What's funny is watching the PSU fans claiming they never wanted Bourque in the first place, how he's overrated and just wanting the biggest NIL bag when it looks like he was going with VT and then doing a 180 any time a report goes to their favor.

Last August I think. Ultimate is essentially what ESPN+ had been but with a higher price and spiffier name.

Same... Without the kids, I doubt I have the Disney+ subscription, and therefore no ESPN... although I really like the ability to watch live through the app when the kids are falling asleep.

Your interpretation is correct. AI is predictive analytics and essentially a tool to make better informed decisions. And the use cases are continually increasing. One of the coolest uses of AI is the traject-arc pitching machine. It uses AI to mimic any pitcher in the league based on release point, spin rate, mph, etc. So, for example, the players can see all of Paul Skenes pitches in batting practice before facing him in the game.

For the Nats, they essentially fired the whole front office and only hired guys that were either AI-savvy or committed to AI-based approaches. They do not have any old-school scouts or executives anymore. And they essentially said all offseason about incorporating analytics/AI into every facet of the game, including roster development, roster management, scouting, drafting, player development, game preparation, lineups, in-game decisions, etc. And I think everyone, including the players, are being trained to use the AI tools. The pitchers and catchers are using AI to study batter and develop game plans. And the batters the same for pitchers. And the coaches for lineups, pinch hitters, pitching substitutions. And the front office for waiver-wire pickups, DFAs, trades, etc.
