Seems like odd timing, unless someone paid him handsomely to come in and hold the fort down for a bit

The school fired coaches over an issue players aren't even going to be suspended for? Were they just looking for an excuse to clean house? School really that tight on money they can't afford for athletes to eat free on campus?
Does Giltner get paid if they can't field a team?

Because players have a 30-day window to hit the transfer portal after a firing, it's possible that a number of players could do so in protest, potentially leaving Wofford without enough players to field a team this year.
oof.... could be a rough year for Wofford. They are not on our schedule but I am sure there are plenty of schools keeping an eye on this, tough to reschedule anything at this point if Wofford has to cancel the season.

This is some of the oldest granular marketing in football. I can recall teams with the Mountain Dew redzone, or Pepsi Blue zone on the radio. In stadium at ODU i've heard sponsored sacks and first downs as well. I feel like there even used to be digital ads on the field in some cases on Raycom, but I could be misremembering this. All before the current physical ad space, NIL and other related money movement.

Whether they hold firm to those I doubt we will ever know the truth.

That's not enough on it's own IMO. CFB 'GMs' won't handle everything related to recruiting - at least not in 2026... maybe in 5, 10, 15 years, etc, but no org is that mature yet, and I don't think High school coaches/pipelines are ready for that either.
Now if you want to hire Chesney as HC, Luke Fickle at DC, and say Blake Anderson at OC, and pair that with a GM... well you have my attention

Would suspect our operating model in regards to budgets for coaching, facilities, and NIL is going to mirror what they do.
I share your sentiments in that I would be "whelmed" by this hire. I certainly think he could do well, but does he have the skill set to transform our football operations environment to be top of the ACC given the right resources?
Or- because we will have a GM equivalent, is he a better choice because he's a football coach first?

Rode my motorcycle out to Nags Head the previous Sunday, 14 Sep. about halfway across the Wright Bridge a cross breeze sprang up. Enough to easily push the bike around, at around 3:30 pm..
Got stronger and by 5pm we had gale force winds and serious rain started Sunday night. Gale winds stayed until Tuesday and enough rain to flood Rt 12 in spots.
First decent weather was Thursday.
