I'm more resigned to a "how did we look?" measure of success. If we continue this bullshit up playing up to our superiors and playing down to our inferiors, big changes will need to be made. If we get bit by the injury bug and only win 4 games, maybe there will be the case to give them another year. If our opponents end up being better than everyone expected, but we hang in there for nearly all of those games, then that will be improvement from last year.
I'll add that I would also want to see systematic improvement through the season. If we look solid on offense the first half of the season and then finish the back half tripping over our own dicks linemen, dropping wide open passes, fumbling a lot, etc., then clean house.

The issue has zero to do with our radius, and much, much more to do with the quality of recruit we're landing.
I have no expectations anymore. Have no clue who is exactly on the roster and how they play. Have no clue of schemes on each side of the ball. Have no clue if Pry improved his in-game coaching. Until I see the first game and how we do on the field, I have no clue what to expect anymore. Too many unknowns to even try and make a semi-educated guess.
All that said, GO HOKIES!!
Bare minimum of success that I would expect would be 2-10. As in, this is the worst I could reasonably see.
Bare minimum of what I could tolerate would be 5-7 with the team starting out with many tough loses as the new systems are put in place. But no bad coaching, the team sticks together and finish strong. A similar scenario finishing 6-6 and losing the bowl game to go 6-7 is pretty much the same to me.
Bare minimum of what I would not be annoyed with = 7-5 + a bowl loss to be 7-6.
Slightly better = 6-6 with a bowl win to be 7-6.

For me, it's as equally illuminating as someone realizing we're the only D-I football team who doesn't have a player with a last name starting with "P". (I'm not saying that is a fact, just using it as a ridiculous stat example)
Every year this metric should vary wildly and lends no insight to quality of recruiting.
As long as he steers through the line and wrecks into the ball carrier, all is forgiven.
I'll give you Georgia, since they open against Marshall, but I seriously doubt Ohio State & Texas are given they are #3 and #1, respectively, and playing each other first. Alabama is a maybe for me...they may just be cocky enough to write off F$U given their last season, but at the same time they need to protect their on-the-CFP-bubble status at #8.

My main takeaway from this is that it is either:
1) Some gamesmanship to not tip your hat with so many newcomers / makes it tougher for SC to prep, particularly on defense.
2) These are truly "ORs" with unclear separation (could be good or not so good) and we are going to see a ton of rotation in the first few weeks to get to a true depth chart. Real lack of clarity vs. being opaque.
3) They feel like they have real depth to be more situational on both sides of the ball - particularly on defense.
Don't know what to think. Hoping the defense will be better but it looks like it is either status quo or downgrades across the board. The WR and RB corps also feels like the same thing - status quo or downgrade. O-Line feels like a likely upgrade, TEs are solid, healthy Drones is an upgrade (if he runs) - but not sure I'm seeing clear upgrades anywhere else.

It seems to really just indicate how balanced your recruiting radius is and doesn't even comment on the size of the radius. Which I guess in a roundabout way shows that only small time programs that can't pull elite national recruits have a balanced radius because that radius is small. Yes, we're officially small time.

I think you're conflating a lot of different things here.
Cam and Bryson both play the same unique ball that no one else plays so they are likely paired together in foursomes. That will be a strong pairing at Bethpage. Both are elite drivers and putters.
Gosnell made a brief appearance on last week's Hard Knocks.
Hoping the crowd is out for Cam. And Bryson will pump them up.
Agree on Collin...he's just not in the best form. Hopefully we can play him once Friday and once Saturday and we don't get killed doing so.

Would love to have seen Keegan get to tee it up at Bethpage. US needs someone other than JT to play with visible passion. I understand playing and being captain would probably be too much to ask but I was here for it. I would have left off Morikawa. Don't trust him to make any putts and he's another low energy guy.

Appears both likely to end up on Bills practice squad
They aren't out clubbing and getting completely black out drunk all week prior to games...but going out for a few drinks a week prior to a game, or even after games on Saturday nights is pretty much normal. If you think they are under lock and key 24/7 from first practice to end of the bowl game that's a myth.
