On average... I think it's close... OSU/Michigan is one of the top 5 games every season. Penn State, Wiscy, Iowa, USC, Oregon all have national followings.
This is why I think that in the 2030s - when SEC and B10 GoRs expire - we see the top 20-30 programs pull away into their own league. Ohio State and Alabama are done subsidizing Rutgers and Vanderbilt, respectively.

Texas Tech doubling down on Softball.
After resigning Canady they have gotten three massive portal commits for next year.
Williams hit 19 home runs during her All-American sophomore year with the Gators. Her .335 batting average will look to help the Red Raider offense with some hitting power. She finished with 44 RBIs.
Terry has 41 wins and 333 strikeouts after two years as a Bruin. During that time, she also posted a 2.50 ERA. Her first year at UCLA, Terry was tabbed as the 2024 Pac 12 Freshman of the Year.
In 2025, Terry finished with 172 strikeouts, making her a key in Glasco's goal of giving Canady more rest next season.
Lis was the Missouri Valley Conference MVP in 2024. She enters her final year at Texas Tech with a career .353 batting average, 44 home runs and 141 RBIs.
This is the kind of commitment we all wish the Hokies would show in a sport.

Didn't hold them back in Softball which they have more than doubled down on. They have commitments from two of the top portal Entrants so far in Softball. Guess they saw it work there and decided to go big in football too. Helps the SEC took most of their blockers out of the way to Big12 championships.
The fact that we didnt fire Pry after the Miami game showed that we dont care. Just like Fuente should have been gone after ODU and Frank after JMU.

I've lost my pride in the athletics. Still have it for the university, but it's gone for the sports. Until we have a new president that has the drive to do both, and an AD that has a long-term competitive and fundraising vision, AND we have 5 years of ludicrous fundraising and rebuilding, I will not allow myself to get reinvested in athletics. I'm apathetic now, and I don't see myself coming back.

You do realize that posts like these totally contradict needing to beat UVA to be bowl eligible every year, right? If these kids aren't better than the kids that lose to Vandy and Duke, then our recruiting is worse than you think it is. Think about it. We don't win, yet this kid had no hopes of seeing the field.

Never got remotely excited about him. Wouldn't have even if he'd signed. Probably wouldn't have seen the field as a true freshman, which means at least two portal opportunities to leave without making any impact at all. The time to care is when fall practice opens, and the people to care about are in the two-deep. Anybody else is just guys who haven't left yet, to my mind.
I think that budget report that had us 13th in the ACC should already tell you we are not getting better any time soon, at least not without a change in leadership.
we are currently dead last in the ACC in recruiting. we have 2 commits. no other ACC school has less than 5. most have 10+. this class could be worse than any of fuente's classes. at this rate, Price is gonna get a chance to be head coach again for a few more games this year.

Can you point to an athletics department that went deep into the red that rebounded in a good way? Is there a model where this has actually worked?
Off the top of my head, I think the UCLA and Rutgers ADs both went into pretty substantial debt, and neither program is better off as a result.
I'd be interested to see if an Ole Miss (who has rapidly ascended over the past decade) or a Clemson or some other school that has changed their position in the college football pecking order has been able to find long term success by borrowing cash.
