The Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) is the premier professional women's softball league in the United States. Featuring four teams — the Bandits, Blaze, Talons, and Volts — the AUSL delivers a 24-game professional softball season across 10 major cities in the United States. It is complemented by the AUSL All-Star Cup – a four-week season where 60 professional softball players compete utilizing Athletes Unlimited's innovative format.
Part of it is the majority of the draftees are skill position players. A team loaded with skill positions won't do well without some talent on the lines. So we go as the lines go. With a new OC and OL coach (and a fresh infusion of OL talent), I have some basis for optimism, but now I'm wondering what the skill position talent looks like with so much of it gone to the NFL.
Only at Vanderbilt... /s
TIL that "AUSL" isn't an Australian league.
I don't know much about wrestling, but Jesus Christ, did he manhandle that guy !
A Junior? So that means he has four more years of eligibility, right?
That's absolutely hilarious. Well done.
Reminds me of the Joe Satriani concert freshman year. Some dude near the front yells, "Freebird, you asshole!" Satriani starts the opening riff, flips the guy the bird, and goes on to his next song.
If you're talking Best Song, it's absolutely "Frayed Ends of Sanity" - a pillar of my "Angry Ride" playlist.
They would have complemented each other well. Brink's game is pseudo-Scottie Pippen - elite defensive player, high IQ, playmaker and versatile. Liz is more Tim Duncan - dominate post-scorer / rebounder.
They wouldn't have split time - Kitley at the 5, Brink at the 4 makes a ton of sense. Only problem was Brink wasn't a great outside shooter so spacing would be an issue.
We would have a national championship with a Brink, Georgia and Liz core, assuming perfect health.
If so, then say "over the last 7 session the Hokies have record of X-X in the back half of ACC play" otherwise it's looks like they cherry-picked data to fit the "Hokies finish poorly every year" story they were looking for.

Great news! Would nice to be one of the "best of the rest" after Penn State has made their choices. At least until college sports model blows up or we get out of this conference.
Roughly midway point of the ACC schedule is how it looks to me.
Roughly equates to a 6-11 finish consistently which is on the coaching staff.
0% chance we get them unless there's a coaching change with a truly elite coach (e.g. Jay Wright)
Somewhat related, Cameron Brink's mother was a Hokie and didn't even consider us with Liz and Georgia already on the roster.

Additionally, it could be that we didn't get an OL or LB we wanted and told Mines to do his thang with the extra roster spot.
Well, Donavon Greene has spent more time injured than actually playing during his career, so I certainly don't fault them for picking up another option. You could certainly have a point about others not recovering quickly as well.
The senator already pointed out the injury to Clarke is what likely prompted another CB pickup, and there has been talk about some DL -> OL shifts which could address both the DT pickup and lack of OL additional pickups.
Or it could just be a dumpster fire waiting to happen - who the hell knows at this point.
Hopefully boosts their confidence heading into the conference tourney. They needed a reminder to remind themselves that they are capable of beating some top-tier competition.
I couldn't figure out why April 10 either. Spring break for VT happens almost a month before that date, so that isn't it.
Josh Clarke is likely out for the season. That's why they took a CB. There is depth at CB. But, not much of it is proven.
Also, oddly specific stats that can skew the story. Why April 10th and not the whole month of April? Likely the stat looks worse. It's not great, but possibly not as bad this tweet makes it seem. I agree with the S&C content below, but April is the end of conf play so the ends of a stretch of much tougher competition. Early season we are typically facing weaker teams and probably get more bench players in on the action to keep the whole team fresh

When I see a team consistently crater like this its a program failure specifically in the S&T side, not a unique thing or happenstance for any one team and the "next year" mentality. Whatever the program is doing in the off-season to get ready seems to be working, but once the first game starts its clear to me that the team is not conditioning and recovering well enough. The team just looks fatigued and they need someone to clean things up with better training, rest, and nutrition and also do a better job of helping the players correctly plan their schedules so they have time to do all the things they need to do to get their bodies ready.
did not order, but absolutely willing to pay to take one if anyone has decided they wont be needing one of their spots.

Even cherry picked 3 and 27 over 6 seasons means they averaged a half a series win per year outside of 2022. That's winning one out of every ten series. Even if they go back a week or two I doubt it changes that number to anything respectable.
