I look at it this way, Moore knows who on that WVU line can play and he's seen what we have. Can he cobble together one good OL between the two of them? Hopefully he's bringing over the pieces to help and taking the best of ours to get to 5.

Two of the transfer OL from WVU are Good Counsel guys. The more we get from the WCAC the better (Moore has that connection).
Crawford had UF, UGA, Tennessee offers out of HS.

I think they were the better part of the offense.
As opposed to VT's offense last year, where the OL was a clear weakness.

They were a strength of the team. Kind of like how we had two AA Dlinemen and well we couldn't stop anyone. So while better than what we had they also fit the mold Moore wants so they probably play as a unit way better than anything we saw last year. Not saying they are going to walk us down the field like the 1989 WVU squad but they are a big upgrade for us.
I don't think they were world beaters but I don't think they sacked their own QB multiple times either.
My outlook on it is this. Our OL was putrid last year (and multiple years before) wholesale change is fine in my book, if they quickest way we can get going in the right direction is to bring in a bunch of guys familiar with Moore even if they're not a massive step up talent wise (I believe just about all of them are a talent step up from everyone except maybe Chaplin when Chaplin wanted to play) then it makes sense to me.
If he and Montgomery are on the same page, we should be able to move the ball. How efficient we are with turnovers and in the red zone remains to be seen though.

Serious question: Was WVU's OL good last year? Not trying to be a dick, but they were 6-7 like we were.
Moore is doing work... Big upgrade. I'm excited to see what our offense looks like year.

Another trip, not much action. Paul got 2 small stripers and lost one to a break off on a piling. I got two bites and didn't stick nuthin'. Did avoid the rays myself, though Paul got hooked up on one, but there were a bunch of them around. Also, saw three skates obviously mating, which I'd never seen before. It was a glorious morning to be on the water, light breeze, pretty clear water and nobody else fishing. But while I can honestly say I seldom get skunked, I did today.
On3 losing some credibility with this one
These things need to happen, and I doubt they ever do: 1. A true governing body for major football and basketball. This has to be agreed upon by the major conferences and presidents. The NCAA does fine with Olympic sports- and few have a gripe with it, but volleyball players don't have agents and leave school every year. This is a must - the SEC and B1G need to agree on governing the major sports and who is going to do it. If it is the NCAA, so be it. 2. Restrictions on movement OR contracts- one or the other. Either you have SOME type of transfer rules, or the players sign contracts. The current model of being a free agent every year does very few people any good. Thinks about it. Only a handful of players truly benefit from this. Hundreds are left without a team. 3. Implement true NIL and a collectively bargained salary structure. Don't hold your breath on any of these.
Tampering in the old sense of recruiting. Legally-peaking, you are correct and there are no rules, the whole sport is in shambles, and I see it getting much worse before it gets any better, if it gets better.

FWIW, the coaches at all of those places are making more than pretty much any individual player. Which I think tracks with what you're saying. A coach is at least as valuable, and maybe more so, than any single player. But, the truly high end talent also carries significantly more value, in a free market, than what they were previously capped at. It doesn't have to be all one way or all the other. Coaches have value. Players also have value. We're in the middle of a truly chaotic moment of figuring out where the balance point is between those two.
Honestly, same. My interest will pick back up when it gets rebuilt, in whatever form that is, and wherever Virginia Tech lands. Until then, I can't be emotionally invested in anything that results in the current system, whether that's player movement or game results.
But I do love my fellow Hokies and the community we've built here, so I'll always be around here looking for a good laugh and learning something new.
Updated with recent portal additions and all of the on3 ratings I could pull. The rating used is the most recent whether it be their HS or TR rating. Some of the transfers out will get updated by the recruiting services, but probably won't get reflected here. Once the dust settles on the portal I will do some comparisons of transfers in/out including the roster changes from the winter window.
Edit: Also, it's embarrassing how many ungraded LBs we have on this roster. Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but man what was Marve doing?
