A suit in Virginia that athletes get preferred admission to a state school based on- anything- would win in court. Yes, we should open that can of worms. You can't have it both ways... You can't get into Stanford in the bottom 3rd of your class because you can run fast, then turn around and claim any rules are unconstitutional - can't have it both ways.
They already do this. They call it a Grey shirt where a kid goes to a prep academy for a year rather than straight into college.
Two reasons
1) You already know where you are going
2) It's become the norm that it means coaches should talk to the players agent and not the player
I realize its just a pull quote with no context but I mean... It seems like he is just as tired of the BS as we are. If its bumming you out so much Whit, the door is over there. Either do something about it or move on - don't just bitch and moan into the void. That's what message boards are for.
I recall another poster comment before the season that scouts were primarily at games to see Lane more than any other player on the roster.
What does that even mean? Why would somebody enter the portal, yet not want teams to contact them?
And their GM, Andrew Luck, is a dude with serious integrity. I still remember him deciding to forego NFL to play one last year in college and people thought he was insane. I'm a huge fan of his.
This was my exact thought. Honestly DC's proposal is VERY good in principle but it just needs this minor tweak.
I mean I, for one, wouldn't want to lose those hilariously old balding BYU players who started their college career after completing missionary.
It felt like Lane and Tuten (and Felton, albeit to a lesser degree) got a ton of love during the combine. Seeing how well Lane ranked among the WR group really hammered home how underutilized he was with us...
Was McShay's critique of our staff in regards to their usages or something else entirely?
IT'S OPENING DAY, FAM!
Those who are into prop betting, may I suggest betting on Tyler O'Neill to hit a homerun today? He's hit homeruns in the past five opening days, and is at +350 to hit one today. Solid bet.
That would make a fun all star game format, you want them to play, then dis them from the start.

Which he brings.
I didn't think teams could draft for their rivals. "No, no, you have to sign this guy to your team."
Like an anti-draft.

I am starting to think it might be time to look for an AD in the transfer portal
I might agree with that for my motorcycle as I ride it home from work at 5 AM at 38F butt, in a car? Nah, I don't need it. Frankly, I have considered heating things on the bike but only handgrips, for safety. I have not done it so, I suppose that means that I find it not all that important.
My wife has that option in her car. It's superfluous as far as I'm concerned. If I need my butt warmed, I'll do something less expensive and less cost if it fails like, a blanket or similar.
Having a seat to heat my balls and buttocks while I drive is way more than a minor convenience
Sure but it does affect faculty and staff which are paid through those same dollars. Goods and services in SWVA shouldn't cost the same as inside the beltway. Rent in bburg might be worse than buying a house, and renting in college Park might be way cheaper than a mortgage, but at no point should a comparable shelter cost anywhere close to the same in each location. It might not be 18k, but it's probably closer to that then say 10k.
Maybe this is the ticket. The DoD subsidizes NIL equally for P4 teams, and the kids who got bags but didn't make it pro have to serve!
I do not like that. I'll take 5 years from first attending college and participate in NCAA athletics as the trigger to begin the 5 years.
I do not like the above because it incentivizes those with aspirations to delay HS graduation/completion in order to recover from injury/train for a year, etc.
It is not necessary to complete HS in order to begin attending college. You would see people begin to game this system in order to avoid HS officially ending in order to avoid the clock ticking on eligibility.
We want to incentivize finishing HS, not the contrary.
I'm surprised he could find a place to start his critism, its just to much data.
I agree, I do not think the electronic keys bring much value but lots of cost and potential for failures at the wrong time.
I know some like the convenience of remote lock/unlock and such but, I ten to keep vehicles forever and these kind of things only bring potential for costs and failures.
Same as much of the additional "features" that drive up modern cars. I don't want electrically operated windows, backup monitors, electrically operated seats, etc. They only add cost for minimal convenience.
I've been listening to Todd McShay's podcast and he loves both Lane and Tuten (and was critical of our coaching staff, shocking I know).

The ultimate Quiet Part out Loud now. This is 100% not NIL. True NIL has no allocation. If Emma Lemley is a media star in christiansburg, she should get her bag, right? What a fucking joke. They aren't pretending anymore. It's time for contracts and a CBA- end the charade.
