If there is no consequence to going into debt then why wouldn't you? Has nothing to do with health/wealth. They'll make it back some how.
However if OSU went over budget, it's not NIL, that's the university and it spending not on students but on probably unnecessary shit. I would bet the football coaching staff and it's 23 coaches (not counting grad assistants) is a large large portion of that deficit.

Howdy Hokie Fam! My bride and I are headed over to Lugano at the end of March as our daughter is doing her study abroad semester there. We have a few nights booked in Lugano and then pretty much an open week before wrapping up with a few days in Paris.
I've been looking into routes and we can sort of go west/north through Switzerland and come in through the Rhone Valley and into Paris from the east. Or we can sort of go west/south down through parts of Italy and then catch southern France and finally do the long desired Aix en Provence trip and enter Paris from the south.
As far as Paris goes, the general feedback I've received is the Marais District checks a lot of boxes which I believe is the 2nd district.
I know this is super general and there are a thousand variations but if anybody has some general thoughts here I'll take them.
It should be noted that we are renting a car so we do have some sort of romantic road tripping vision through the countryside between Lugano and Paris on our minds.

I don't think very many (if any) people have a problem with players getting paid. Players getting actual NIL dollars was way overdue...if someone was willing to pay Johnny Manziel for an autographed helmet or jersey, he absolutely should have been able to make that money.
The problem that the current system has is:
(1) Zero transparency or regulation at all
(2)NIL being instantly transformed into pay for play and "NIL potential" being used in courts as an antitrust argument to make eligibility limits essentially a joke at this point.
(3) Not all players have NIL value--how do you determine who "deserves" what? The 3rd string LG doesn't make a dime for the University....sorry truth hurts. In those scenarios, the economic value that they are receiving in a Scholarship far outweighs their economic benefit.
(4) Despite the anecdotal "millions of dollars" schools are said to be making from College Football and Basketball, there is a vast difference between revenue and profits. As I posted above, Ohio State...a "Blue Blood" lost money this year. Arizona St. Athletic department was near broke reportedly, Maryland was in trouble several years ago, and Miami is siphoning money from their Healthcare system to fund Athletics. Doesn't paint a picture of an abundance of riches.
So while "nostalgia" is probably part of the vitriol towards NIL/pay for play, there are legitimate real-world concerns that many are glossing over for a "get yours" mentality.
In Cusco, we stayed at Hotel Rumi Punko. It definitely fits the "not too fancy" category but was walking distance to most activities and had some nice courtyard common spaces to have some snacks and a bottle of wine.
They'll also keep some of your luggage for you if you're doing the trek and coming back so you don't have to drag everything around.
Not sure yet. It's not a golf-specific trip so I'm just looking to play something nearby to scratch the itch that won't break the bank. I think Cocoa Beach Country Club is nearest to where I'm staying.

- Blutarsky above mentioned green chili. A burrito smothered in green chili is "the" Denver dish if I had to pick one. El Taco de Mexico is a classic spot to get a no-frills smothered burrito. They actually won a James Beard award a few years back. https://g.co/kgs/Q47ppTb
- Denver has a ton of Mexican food generally. But it's mostly meh, as someone who lived in TX for a few years before moving here. A notable exception is La Diabla Mezcal y Pozole. - Not necessarily unique to Denver, but these places are just great at what they do... Leven Deli for sandwiches/salads/drinks. Cart Driver Lo-Hi for a nicer New American pizza/pasta dinner. Another awesome option for a nicer dinner is Molotov Kitschen + Cocktails-- upscale Ukrainian/Eastern European food.
Drink:

Do:
- May is probably too early for good hiking deeper in the Rockies. But there are some good foothills hikes near Golden which is a quick drive from town (Table Mountain, Lookout Mountain, Windy Saddle). Quick hike near Golden --> New Terrain Brewing is an excellent way to spend a couple hours.
- Walk Colfax Ave near Bluebird Theater. Colfax is the longest commercial road in the US and an iconic part of Denver. The part near Bluebird Theater is a good stretch with some cool thrift shops. Also where Cerebral Brewing is.
I don't know what else to say. I'm not trying to argue I've just been trying to articulate a point.
I didn't spend the last 5 and a half years seeing you regurgitate the same "ODU Sucks we should cakewalk them" take a million times just to let you get away with saying there's no functional difference between their roster and ours and that the Hokie fanbase literally wouldn't care about having a team that actually sucks

# | Hokie Hoops Central: Virginia Tech (11-14) at Boston College (10-15) 9pm ACCN For what has happened to VT in general, and especially the fact that we suck in all revenue sports at this junction in the overall grand scheme, basically making us an undesirable right when we need to be peaking in order to get a P2 seat, everyone associated with the school should be on the hot seat. From every member of the BoV to Whit to Sands, what has happened has been borderline criminal incompetence.
But nothing will happen because VT thinks its a small time backwoods school that should feel fortunate that it ever got its time in the sun in the ACC to begin with.
We were not sold out before the season began. We sold individual game tickets all season long. That meant people were still buying tickets after our horrible start.

I'd gladly take ODU's roster and play in a league with other regional teams with similar rosters that were made up of student athletes that largely planned to stay at VT until graduation or bigger and better things

their participation is tied to being a student for their university.
Maybe this will change one day, but not any time soon.

BOOM! This is the comment. I get that fans want it to feel like the players are regular college students. I get that that image is part of the allure of college sports - it's that I was touring college campus, and I had a connection a VT - maybe it was pragmatic, or maybe it was something a little magical that I can't explain, so I went there - and football recruit X had the exact same experience, and that's cool. I get it, truly, I do.
My opinion is that it's the schools, the conferences, the coaches, and the networks who broke that reality. Amateurism was the tool that the powers that be used to perpetuate the illusion that these were just kids playing fancy intramural sports. But eventually the lie got too big. Athletic departments making 8-9 figures in revenue, coaches making 8 figures annually, realignment and nationalization ruining geographic rivalries... players didn't break the system; their amateurism was just the last remaining connection to the old way.
Everyone wants college athletes to be like John Ed, but they all forget that It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium takes place over a half century ago.
I get that fans want to return to a more innocent time. The players aren't the ones to blame though. This has been a slow moving coup driven by opportunistic networks and greedy university administrators. Players semi-professionalizing was an inevitability.
You are talking about the fanbase justifying D2 portal offers here. You don't think a roster with less 3 stars on it wouldn't be "hyped" by VT fans? This is the same fan base that lauds FCS transfers.

Shot an 87 earlier this month on the one warm day we've had in NoVA - 2nd best score ever and only 2nd time breaking 90.
Hopefully going to get a few rounds in later this month since I'm travelling down to Cocoa Beach to visit some folks. Itching to test a couple of updates to the bag; gaming a "new" Cobra Darkspeed X driver, and replacing my 5 iron with a hybrid.
He was pretty consistent on his responses on TSL and on the Level 7 podcast. He did talk a bit about how the game has adapted to those older schemes, and how he hopes to adapt with it. Pretty much said he can't run those older schemes the way they did before.
Was the pre-season hype based on the 7-6 record from the preceding year, or based on all the returning players

We sold out due to preseason hype, not on-field success. Ticket sales mainly take place before the product on the field diminishes.
"Buzz had us inches away from an Elite 8 and Whit failed to hold on to him, or build on any of the momentum from Buzz's tenure"... I have a very legit source on this one... Buzz has done his own contracts since he went to Marquette. As you can probably guess, they are as weird as he is. Weird incentives, demands on support staff that are very specific, a recruting jet, etc. Whit had most of the nonsense worked out and agreed to - which was the hard part- as a holdover from Buzz's deal here. Buzz came back to Whit with a 2 mil per year raise for him and a huge bump for Wolfe and Roccafort to stay. I'm told Whit basically laughed at it.Buzz was also the biggest ride or die Nike guy ever... UNTIL as a sweetner for the deal, aTm boosters had adidas make buzz an offer he could not refuse. Did Whit try to keep him? yes... was he in the ballpark and did we have any pull with Nike? nope
