Hokiesports remains mostly pitiful as best as I can tell. Pretty much at the bottom of the heap with E$ecPN with inaccuracies, or no information at all.
In the meantime, I will be scrambling to setup a reverse mortgage on my home so that I can help pay "NIL" to a 5'9" 26 year-old QB so that he can afford a lawyer to sue for an 8th year of eligibility because he had Turf-toe for 2 games during his 2nd Sophomore year that limited his "NIL Potential."

Nothing will happen until we can get out of our ESPN contract. I would approach Amazon, Google, and X and work out a media deal with them and include the next 100 teams that aren't in the p2. With Google and X alone, you'd secure the eyeballs of the entire Internet which is where everything is going.
ESPN and fox are old media formats and to be honest, I think the p2 grab for more slots is to help ESPN and fox survive the horrible deals they made. If everybody else leaves, it will end ESPN as we know it.

Bad: Everything else. Extended the worst apparel deal in the P4, lost Kenny Brooks over assistant money, did not get a call back from Buzz Williams, Hired Justin Fuente, extended Justin Fuente. Stripped mens hoops of resources, has not won anything significant in terms of team championships.

I still have this suspicion that somehow his seat is quite comfortable.
It's not tax avoidance (IRS is clamping down on non-profit collectives, so this 'loophole' is basically gone, and I don't expect giving to drop off)... These 'irrational' boosters think that winning a natty, beating a rival, etc will bring them happiness, and they think a given player can help them win those things, so they incentivize said player to come to their school. It's actually quite rational - they're trading money for (hopefully) happiness.
Now, one can argue that the boosters' line of thinking is ethically or philosophically flawed, but I wouldn't call it 'irrational'.

He had to replace 80% of his roster and about 92% of scoring from last year thanks to having his NIL taken away. He also isn't getting the budget that the majority of other ACC programs in terms of assistant coaches and staff. Last time I checked 12 ACC teams have the full five assistant coaches. Young has three. Every aspect of the program is operating below the majority of ACC programs due to money.
The replacements are clear downgrades or left before the season started outside Lawal due to NIL. Schutt has been ok. Burnham has flashes but then has complete duds like last night. Serven has been a complete non-factor.
Rodney Brown disappeared after getting up to almost starter minutes, not sure what happened there. I am guessing Brown has an injury they aren't addressing in public. Late December to early January he had a six game stretch playing about 25 minutes per game but then dropped to about 12 and then 4 minutes in the UVA win and has not played since that game.
Johnson and Hammond are doing great as freshman. Hammond is only playing because of losing Hysier Miller and Jordan Ivy-Curry. Ivy-Curry is putting up 13.9ppg as the third option at UCF. He got a bigger bag from UCF.

"So if the universe (or college football boosters) present you with an opportunity to get something, you should take advantage of it"- you nailed it... an irrational mega booster laundering money or avoiding tax hits to pay you for not being truly marketable or oftentimes even good at football is not earning anything. Players demanding 7 figures, private planes, etc just because Connor Stallions would sell his sole for Big Blue or some dumb ass oil barron lights money on fire is the definition of entitlement.

I agree with you: A free degree from duke, stanford, VT, whatever is a huge benefit, regardless of if your tutors are doing all the work for you and learn nothing.

A very large % of these kids would never attend college at all if not for running fast, etc. So your question is meaningless regarding what they do IN college. The alternative is - not college. IF they matriculate from Duke or Stanford in any meaningful and legit way academically, that is worth a fortune in networking, job opportunities, etc. Most people aren't entitled to fake money they don't get from legit NIL. Nah, that is reserved for college athletes. Most people have to earn a living, and a Duke degree helps that tremendously- you can disagree, that's fine. But it is true. The entitlement culture in big time college sports has clouded all basic judgement - i.e. a Stanford degree is a huge benefit in life.
At least we won that one. It wasn't so bad to watch in person because of the nc state agony all around.

What percent of those kids (the kids getting an opportunity purely due to their athletic prowess) are actually learning vs just getting a degree? Or do you think it doesn't matter?

There's a difference between believing a degree is 'not worth anything' and believing that, if adults are willing to pay these kids to wear a specific jersey, that the kids should have the right to accept said pay.

The OL play could be better... totally depends on if the OL coach and OC are on the same page. If they use this year to experiment and be "multiple"- we are screwed. Pick a scheme that you can block and vis versa
yes, across multiple coaches, years, teams, players, sports. Mental toughness is the issue. BC is 3-12 in the ACC, and they killed us- pssst. they aren't good. It's mental weakness.
Talent wise we're definitely in a hole but I don't think it's a stretch to think that the previous OL coaches were doing less with more. That being said expecting drastic improvement in the OL this year is probably not realistic. We're lacking significant depth and experience across the board.
Its not just VT hoops - its all VT. I dont know if its the travel distance, just being in Boston, or what but our school routinely finds ways to lose, and lose big, in Chestnut Hill.
Montgomery also had a great interview on the TSL pod that just dropped this morning. He and Matt Moore have really been working together and talking a lot and he said they come very much from the same philosophies offensively (Moore from the Mike Leach tree and Montgomery who is also from that similar Briles/Leach tree). Should be very similar concepts and approaches so I'm excited to see this fit together.
