You do realize that VT provides free legal counsel to all it's students, right? We had to sue our landlord Junior year and made it incredibly easy and actually resulted in some accountability from the leasing agency.

It appears that Jordan Bass got a head start on the "Hokie Hi" (sic) part of it!

and maybe use our Food & Science department to develop a proprietary "Hokie Hi" pre-workout mix

I hope they get after it, I really do. And I also want to know who Ferg is paired with to get the nutritional stuff done right to compliment what's being done in the gym. FFS please make sure they aren't getting crappy protein and low-grade creatine supps...

I wish the hokiesports app would stop sending push notifications until after this hire. I'm getting overly excited for that VT logo only to get Bball and FB schedule updates.

Wow- and I thought my 5 ft 5 at that point was short-of course I only went up to 5 ft 8 lol(though with a 6 ft 1 armspan)

Thing is, I'm not convinced we are actually that poor. Are we OSU? Absolutely not. But we have the budget to go toe to toe with most of the ACC.

This data is publicly available on the knight commission. We're a top 30-35 public school when it comes to Athletic Department budget depending on the year. You can assume there are 5-10 private schools with a larger athletic department, and that puts us in the top 35-45 best funded athletic departments.

Our football and basketball teams have been producing at a top 50ish level, so yea, there's an issue there.

We are convinced at an institutional level that we can somehow pay less than everyone else and still make home run hires. We think we can home-grow mediocre personnel into winners, because Frank was homegrown.

This is what I think, except I think it's the boosters who have this attitude, not Whit.

I've just heard too many people speak highly of Whit and heard too many horror stories about the Weaver days. I do believe that Whit has done a lot of great things to modernize us since then. That said, I do tend to believe a different skill set is required for the new era of college athletics that we are entering. Less politician, more business owner/media person. I don't think that's what Whit excels at.

We're not that poor. You can look at our AD budget. We're not last in the ACC. We're not hurting for money. There's no reason for the penny pinching that goes on.

We can turn dcwilson's outlook positive (ok, maybe that's a stretch).

dcwillson, I hope there is at least a small smile on your face based on the above.

Sometimes, we get sooo wrapped up in opinions, that folks can get a bit crazy on this site. This comment gives me hope that at the end of it all, we can be friends despite our differences.

Thing is, I'm not convinced we are actually that poor. Are we OSU? Absolutely not. But we have the budget to go toe to toe with most of the ACC. With fucking Duke at the very least.

We just don't open the checkbook, because Whit won't open the checkbook. We are convinced at an institutional level that we can somehow pay less than everyone else and still make home run hires. We think we can home-grow mediocre personnel into winners, because Frank was homegrown.

That's it. That's what it is. Utter refusal to modernize. Utter refusal to move forward. Utter refusal to succeed.

I don't know. I was at a party at a friend's in Foxridge. Met him and had enough liquid courage that it seemed like a good idea at the time. Arm is intact. Pride? Also still intact. C'mon, it was Jake Grove. Not ashamed of that L.

My "No!" came in the form of lacking any athletic ability whatsoever...coupled with delayed puberty. I was 4'10" my sophomore year of high school.
