This thread is really slowing down - people must be getting board of wild speculation lol
Would rather have him at DT than Sinbad.
The one time where "too many cooks" might actually add some productive chaos
But a decent way to salvage bad bourbon, though.

# | Dept of Ed: NIL payouts from school are "financial assistance" which are subject to Title IX. this isn't a surprise and would impact revenue sharing...seems obvious Title IX would apply. a new admin could change their interpretation but unless Title IX is repealed, i think goes to court regardless of who is in charge
Ed Zachary! Can't tell the joke here, but if you've heard it...
This "NIL" money is not at all for commercials, posters, appearances at Walmart openings and such. It is straight out, unadulterated PAY FOR PLAY.
Yeah that is an odd one when they mention collectives. Also the revenue sharing is just that revenue sharing. Now it might be due to the players are students which makes revenue sharing weird-ish but companies revenue share with non-employees all the time, consultants, contractors, etc can be part of revenue sharing. So not sure how financial assistance is defined but it's not this?
Did we replace Delane?
Was hoping the Penn State CB that went into the portal earlier this week would be the Delane replacement...looks like he's going to to Buttgers.
I think you're right to an extent but...I think Nash and the Ginger Twins are very respectable replacements for APR and Peebles. We flipped and improved an awful safety room. The "moneyball" RBs have very, very good tape and don't expect a huge drop off from Tuten. Seldon will get carries in the Jaylin Lane role.
CB, LB and OL still need depth but Bass and the three WVU kids are a good start. The VT 247 insiders are high on IBM as a nickel CB...The hope is we can evaluate what we have in the spring and fill the rest of the holes in the spring portal. Remember, we did get APR in the spring portal, it's not like it's completely devoid of talent.
I want to see how the OL reacts to have a non-F level OL coach. I expect rapid improvement from the incumbents.
Want to see if the LBs can pack on 10-15 lbs with a non-F level S&C coach.
Want to see if the new DC is moving to a true 4-2-5 which would explain the LB / S distribution in the portal.
Beacuse...NEWSFLASH...NIL money is not really for marketing.
Fun fact: Texas State has about 5,000 more undergraduates than Virginia Tech.

More likely going the Adonis Alexander route. Forced NFL Draft.
Fully expecting a classic Whit budget hire incoming. Sounds like Dex may be more in play at PSU now that they missed on their top two candidates.
Can we start a New Head Coach/AD Conversation thread yet? /s sort of
Who would that be? I thought he was talking about Djonkam who already signed
Edit: Jimmori Robinson
I used to live back behind that Hardee's. The geolocation on the app wasnt very good and I could check into the store from BT. 5 check in got you a free fry 10 got you a free burger. I was eating at least once a week there free on top of all the other times I went. That place pretty much got me through sophomore year.
The key problem with this is in classifying NIL as "financial assistance", which isn't really what NIL actually is.
It may indicate a problem with how schools have manipulated the rules in order to provide payment, but it's pretty clear that would change if this rule is upheld.
Not so fast my friend!
The new administration can still rescind this:
Key lines from the Department of Education document that could significantly impact how most schools plan to distribute their revenue (80%+ to football/men's basketball) *if* the new presidential administration chooses not to change or rescind it.https://t.co/W5J0ZSJmwd pic.twitter.com/jAU2jFkzaC— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) January 16, 2025
Also, looks like collectives could be subject to Title IX as well;0
The Department of Education goes hard, even targeting NIL compensation from some third parties, specifically those affiliated with boosters."The fact that funds are provided by a private source does not relieve a school of its responsibility" for Title IX compliance. pic.twitter.com/hTTrL5eFBG— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) January 16, 2025
Ugh, this one hurts. Trying to think about how many roast beef sandwiches I had from there. Always two per visit.
Underrated movie, underrated comment.
At least it won't be as predictable.
So we got Boots AND the Ginger. Hide yer ostriches
It's very difficult to legislate selective and arbitrary "fairness".
There's a lot of money at stake, so I expect a lot of fighting over it's redistribution.
Have seen a slew of X comments saying they have not been able to get him academically qualified at Tech but they have at WVU. May just come down to that unfortunately.
Terrible news. That place was rocking at 2am. I don't think anyone went there sober. Got tossed out and banned one night because my drunk ass went there but my brain apparently was home asleep. My autopilot had a serious malfunction.

Here is some film footage of Bell. He is number 33. He played a "jack linebacker" type of role at Texas State. Standing up, on the line of scrimmage, and got moved inside and outside on the line of scrimmage. He is a pretty one dimensional guy, great get off and he is coming up the field. Like APR, I don't expect him to be terrific against the run so having those defensive tackles causing a lot of trouble inside will help his effectiveness. As a pass rusher, he is tremendous, especially when they moved him around to get good matchups. He has really violent hands and great get off. For whatever good or bad we say about Pry, he does max damage with undersized violant twitch edge players (taking an undersized Arnold Ebiketie from Temple and making him a second round NFL pick who is getting a half dozen sacks a year as a part timer in the NFL, APR, etc). I expect good things. Now they have four "twitch guys" in Bell, Nash, Copeland, and Laws. Where is the big anchor (Gilliam, Burgos) to be responsible so those guys can hunt?
