Belonging to a private club has its perks and I have no kids and my travel schedule should be pretty light this year. I usually play 9 on Wednesday after work (league), 9 on Thursday after work ($20 blind draw 2 man net game) and then usually 18 Saturday and 18 Sunday. The season runs from April through October so lots of time to get in rounds.

Regarding wedges, I have PW (44Β°), Approach Wedge (48Β°), 52Β° and 56Β°. I have mostly used the 52 for any thin that is not a full swing or bump and run. I actually use it for bunker shots. It's all feel, though and some days it's really and some days it's not. Trying utilize the other 3 for more than just full swing shots. I won't consider a 60Β° because I feel that I can hit any shot that I need with 52Β° and its margin for error is much greater.

Looking outside the college ranks, finding a.
1.) Defensive coach
2.) With linebacker experience
3. Who has ties to the Commonwealth
4.) Who is in our price range

Baltimore Ravens Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr

All great goals and jealous you think you'll get up to close to 60 rounds. I'll consider myself happy if I crack 20 on the year.

Totally you do you but am generally curious how others feel regarding four wedges. I'm rolling with the PW from my iron set, a 52Β° and a 60Β° so I'll call that 2.5 wedges since the PW isn't really a wedge, just a high lofted iron shape-wise. But I've never felt the need for an additional wedge. Those with four (assuming roughly 48, 52, 56, 60) has it really helped having the differentiation?

I pretty much play my 52 anywhere from 40-115, and 60 for anything inside 40

I think we can all agree that if it isn't someone still coaching in the CFP or the NFL then something got bungled at some point. If they do get botched, then I hope we get our second choice and not like, our fifth choice lol.

I would think you'd want the remote control option if it doesn't add a lot to the price.

Breaking 90 can come quicker than 100.

I was thinking about posting this thread later this week.

Goals for 2025
Handicap back down to 12 (it's 14.1 right now) with a stretch to single digits
Break 90 by the end of April at my home club (my year always starts off slow and that about a month of outside golf)
Break 80 by end of season - I'll take this anywhere as the only place I did it was at the old VT course on campus back in 1992.
Play 60 rounds
Play 10 or more courses besides my home course
Alter swing path to inside out (taking a lesson or 3 to help with this)
Develop a wedge matrix (4 wedges by 4 swing lengths/types) after I replace my 52Β° and 56Β° wedges in April.

Golf trip I am trying to organize for this year is French Lick, Indiana. Two courses there a new Pete Dye course and a revamped Donald Ross course, plus Sultan's Run nearby. All 3 are top 10 in Indiana. We'll throw in the Pfau course at IU (played it twice last year) or maybe hit a private track we have some access to in Columbus, IN.

May try to hit a couple courses in northern Michigan.

Excited for the season to start, but in the meantime the sim will have to scratch the itch

Didn't do a ton of training but it was 6 years ago so I was a relatively in shape 24 year old. If you can do a half marathon, you should be good from a cardio perspective. It's just different than running in that you're basically climbing up stairs all day at crazy altitude, so you need to make yourself go 30% slower than you think you can or you'll be stopping to catch your breath often. Slow is steady and steady is fast.

Best part of the Inca Trail is hard. Some of the ruins and views along the way were awesome, but I'd probably have to say making it up to Dead Woman's pass on day 2. It was the toughest day of the hike, but you felt like you were on top of the world when you got up there.

Guess no one remembers that Foster personally recommended JHam. If Whit had backed someone else (because the HC makes that hire) we would have destroyed him.

Looking to get out of the August NC heat, and thinking Ogunquit might be perfect. We've never been. Mostly looking for hotel/accommodation recommendations (or cautions). Of course any must-do suggestions would be welcome too.

Took the 3w out of the bag, added a PING G430 5w and 7w. I really like both those clubs. I'm not sure what goal to set for myself this year now that I broke 100. I think I might just coast since I'm not going to have a quarter of the time I used to to play and breaking 90 is a ways off.

Although I am gonna get my annual winter round in on Monday. It's gonna be a brisk one 😬😬

Was your competition someone you have lost to or had less market share revenue than them for a decade, yet they were able to hire top talent and upgrade quickly at critical positions? This isn't a startup, this is big time college football. Clemson hired their DC in 5 seconds- will they have to fire him soon? maybe but they have been beating the shit out of us lately so perhaps they know what they are doing?

Yeah, I'd hold positions open until we got the right person; one personnel headache can consume several good folks. But I didn't have timing limitations relative to recruiting, class schedules, and practice either.

I work at a startup that went through a "hire people as fast as possible" phase and it led to awful hires and lots of pain and firings... when we took our time to hire the right person (it took months of searching and interviewing) we found the right person who has done amazingly well

same as it was with Tyler Bowen, still coaching.

i just dont think it's fair to say we can't pull players without a named DC when we're clearly pulling players without a named DC. Roster changes haven't exactly been one-way

we're assuming it's a delay because we're assuming we know who the hire was supposed to be and then because it wasn't announced when we assumed it would be announced now we're all assuming it's not happening.

and we all know what they say can happen when you assume -- sometimes you're wrong
