I'm starting to wonder if Pry was just telling recruits it will be someone to run his scheme/familiar with his scheme since he's a former DC and we were making strong NIL offers to convince them to sign. Then the transfer/recruit still has the spring portal window to get out if the hire doesn't end up to be good.
Absolutely shocked we got any defensive recruits / transfers if DC was this up in the air. Thats the only reason I'm hopeful there still is someone we are just waiting to announce. Otherwise Pry was out there on the deck somehow getting kids to buy tickets for the Titanic's second voyage after it hit the iceberg
Man people are connecting a lot of dots that are really far away. The only "evidence" we have Banks was ever a realistic target is someone pulling a bunch of t's and b's out of a post by Mehul. I don't know that we should be freaking out this much.
I didn't think it was possible to feel worse about our DC position, but here we are.
If we really have whiffed out and this DC hire is a plan D, Whit's seat better be absolutely scorching. And Pry will be following him after the 2025 season. Hell I'm honestly thinking the complete and utter level of baffoonery in the VTAD is likely why we have swung and missed. Who the hell would even want to work for Whit Babcock and Pry who are both on the hot seat?

Pry and Whit are sitting on a fan revolt if the results of the DC search is the beginning of a bad 2025 season.
Just to note - JHam is not a scumbag. Great guy and great Hokie. DC abilities aside, he's a great human being.

# | With all this defensive coordinator hand-wringing... why NO Culture Coach checks❓ Those one score games are so close that a number of things could have turned the tides, better game management, but also it could have been 1 first down that we didnt get because we were gassed and caught from behind. Better talent hides flaws, getting guys and improving their talent will hide some of the game managment issues. Glennon couldn't get an game icing first dow to save his life, but Bud bailed us out a number of times. Tyrod could get that first down. Talent makes up for a lot.
Last year's success happened when Keatts went away from his pressing defense. They reverted to a standard half court defense to conserve energy which led to them closing the season on five wins in ACC play, the ACC Tourney run and then the NCAA run, yet Keatts has fallen right back into using the full court or aggressive mid-court defense this season and in most of their losses they were worn out at the end.
You said something that was incorrect then kept doubling down. That's not semantics. All you had to do was accept that fact, said, "sorry, not DC, still scumbag on the staff. " then everyone would agree with you and the board wouldn't be polluted with this stupid argument.

Mehul's posts said should be hearing something middle of the week. Perhaps that was the decision point for Banks on the VT offer or renewing with UT. We may have our answer if the case.

If Banks is off the table, then we could be circling back to Dex. It sounds like PSU is going big external hire for their DC opening. I can't imagine Dex hanging around there after being passed over three times for the sole DC job, especially if he has a full DC job offer on the table with Pry in Blacksburg. Unless he just really likes PSU or really hates VT, I wouldn't want to wait around and get caught holding my pee pee in my hand. Dex certainly isn't the A+ homerun that Banks would be, but he's a very high-ceiling hire I still maintain. Best case, it all works out and everyone is happy. Worst case, recruiting improves a lot and at least have some excitement until Pry is ultimately out.
Welp we fired Chris Marve- I would hope for a reason, and that reason being improving the defense? You would hope. So yeah, If Pry had no plan AB or C or Whit won't pony up for a real DC in today's market. 1. You should have kept Marve and 2. Pry might want to update his resume and put some stuff in storage.

How much preparation did you do? I plan on running a half marathon in May, and hoping to springboard some training from there.
I've heard similar things with the Salkantay trail (some say its a tad better, some say its a tad worse, all say its much cheaper).
I'm still partial to the inca trail, as I don't think I'd do both in my lifetime (but never say never)
