This was my take too. Did not look like Williams had prepped with the 1s going up to the bowl.
Xavier Restrepo apparently opted out a few hours before the game after practicing through out. He was Miami's All Time leading receiver in yards.
Keep in mind that of the ACC nine bowl losses, a backup or 3rd string QB has played at least a half in 6 of them. That's just the QB position.
Miami was without their top two WR and three guys in their secondary plus a few others. They were up 31-28 at the half...and then Ward opted out

Bowl evaluations of any kind at the conference level are kind of a joke but more so in this Portal/Draft Opt Out reality.

Shedeur is a pretty good starting quarterback with one of the worst OL in the power 4.
While not all of his decisions are perfect (he pulled a David Wilson earlier and pushed them out of FG range), he's consistently having to buy time with his legs, throw on the run, and get passes out extremely quickly.
The biggest hurdle for college quarterbacks adjusting to the NFL is the speed of the game. He's already being tested with this.
And not every team is convinced that he is the answer- it only takes one to pull the trigger and draft him.
TL;DR- he's a lot more of a known product than guys who look good but never get tested in college.
Eh I disagree - the ACC has had three good seasons in the last quarter century - 2013, 2016, and 2020. Teams in conference routinely underachieve (Miami, NCst, UNC, etc), frequent losses to G5 teams, frequent losses to SEC rivals (like, how did Lamar Jackson never beat Kentucky???), bad bowl records, etc.
The on-field product in the field has been lacking for a while now. The new SEC/B10 deals (and the conference expansion that accompanied the new contracts) is/will make the issue worse.

I've probably watched five of his games either at JSU or CU (which is admittedly a small sample size), and I have never thought he was an above average college quarterback. Usually those guys don't become franchise QBs.
And you can say his OL is bad so he will look bad. Which is true. But then are we just imagining that he will be good if he gets a good OL? (which teams drafting QBs in the first round basically never do)
