Some of it is super cheesy. The argh pirate voice from the robot. The owl that ends up sounding like the mom from Bluey when she's talking to the girl. The entire section of the episode where they go to the wasteland planet and spend time doing target practice was unnecessary.
It's a decent watch. I put it on while doing dishes. It was fine for that.
Liverpool is pretty good at looking great early on and then stumbling down the stretch. I think (hope) things are different under Slot. I think he's a legitimately elite tactician. Granted, he inherited one of the, if not the, most talented rosters in the league. But he's got them playing solid, confident, controlling football. It's a joy to watch. I'm unsure what's going to happen with the contract negotiations with Salah, Trent and Virgil. Those are three of the best players in the world at their respective positions. Unsure they'll be able to keep all 3. Slot has proven to be a tremendous tactician but can he assemble a roster when some of those pieces aren't there any longer? That's the big question mark on him imo. He's got the acumen for sure. But becoming an elite manager is going to be dependent on whether he can bring guys in to keep things going like they are.
Yeah tottenham is confusing. Seems like they either score 4 goals or give up 4 goals. Super hot and cold.

Liverpool are gonna walk the league. Slot has them playing lovely football (🤢). I feel like city are broken and need to move Walker and Grealish, or there is some lockeroom rift going on.

Hard to describe my feelings toward Spurs. Much like VT, I no longer let them drive my weekend plans or day to day feelings. I want to back Ange, especially given the injuries, but the form is rough. But Levy will not win a trophy if he keeps sacking managers every 18 months. It's a sickening cycle and the fans deserve better. I'd take a carabao or Europa trophy if it meant finishing 16th tbh. At least we aren't west ham or man u, but that's a low bar.
Chelsea's lack of disfunction has been a (bad) surprise. I was really hoping they'd mope at the bottom half of the table again this season.
Title race is Liverpools to lose, of course, but they haven't really hit many trials or tribulations yet. Injury luck, VAR luck, ball bouncing right to their best players luck...it's all working! Will be interesting to see if any other teams are good enough to put pressure on them if they trip up. Hopefully Arsenal can 😬

Welp. We're at the midpoint of the epl season(just about, with a couple more games yet to be played). Who had Nottingham Forest in the top 4 at this point? How about man city 14 points behind league leaders?
It's been an interesting one so far. As my first real season in epl fantasy it's been a lot of fun too. What has been a surprise to you so far this season? How do you think the title race will shape up?

I think this is a really interesting question. Is it perhaps a BETTER version of the Beamer way?
I never want to lose an in state top recruit (especially to Tennessee, yuck), but we haven't paid them a dime, and we haven't had to worry about them portaling after they've developed in our program.
I guess I kind of just made a case for portal as a whole, but I guess I would prefer this than the Devon Hunter situation. (Too soon?)
As I mentioned above, this 'reporting' is definitely wrong, but to answer your question generally: Typically, in the 5-10% of scenarios where the reported NIL contract is not grossly exaggerated/inflated, outlets still share the maximum money the athlete can make. So it's not 'guaranteed' money by any stretch.
The only contract I've seen widely shared is Nico Iamaleava's - and that had $8m over 4 years as the absolute maximum he could earn from the collective.
You also have a plethora of players at USC who are alleging that they were promised deals they never got, or just never paid.
Some data points I've heard multiple people in the media sharing/agreeing on - Oregon's roster is about $18m, OSU's is about $15m, Ole Miss is at about $12m. There are a few others in the $10-$13m range. That's between $500k and $750k average per starter (if you assume the team is only paying the starting 22). So across the 65 P4 teams, there's probably less than 50 guys making 7 figures from collectives.
I'm kind of on this wavelength too. I don't know if he'll ever be able to get a complete team together in the FBS; I think his scorched earth method was more like going all in on a lottery ticket. (I mean, he only really had to make waves and win a little in the short term in Boulder; having a son who's a pretty good quarterback and a #1 ranked recruit in the nation on your roster who stays healthy and has no issue playing every snap has to help with that).
Counterpoint, they basically had the same SOS as SMU and Indiana. And having a glaring weakness as bad as that OL is not really impressive roster management.
But going 9-4 without a functioning OL is actually kind of impressive from a game management perspective. I figured they wouldn't make a bowl again if their line was just as terrible as last season, and it pretty much was.

(to answer my mildly rhetorical question... yes, it's preferable to get them out of high school, but if we can get 2 or 3 years of them starting after year 2 or 3, then it's still a pretty good deal)
