Based on the way Pry addressed it in the presser, I would assume Drones injuries were and are a significant impediment to his development. He knows he needs another year. It sounds like it is possible that Drones may not be 100% healthy in spring ball. Great opportunity for Pops. But that would just make the battle in the fall that much tighter. Fans would probably be fine starting the season with whoever wins the battle. But would the loser feel okay with that - especially if that is Drones?

EPL isn't perfect. I understand that there are bluebloods with inherent advantages. The difference is that there still exists some amount of hope for the bottom teams. As miniscule as it may be, it is still there. That is all but gone in CFB. Add to that the fact that the one CFB team I support is much closer to the bottom than the top makes CFB considerably less fun. I know that VT will never win a championship in college football and right now the sole focus around the sport from a media perspective is who will win the championship so VT is never discussed. The interesting story lines just aren't there. In the EPL, there are story lines around every team. You can be a fan of any team in the top flight and there will be interesting and entertaining stories each week. Any team can win any game. Nottingham Forest knocked of Liverpool at Anfield. Man City lost like 7 straight games in all competitions. Tottenham has had a wild season. Lost to Ipswitch (newly promoted team) and then turned around and smoked Man City 4-0.
It's just more entertaining. Plus, from a fantasy perspective, you can have a player from a bottom team that gets a lot of points (Cunha for Wolves). The whole sport is just more interesting and entertaining than CFB right now, even if it has giants with tremendous financial backing that are going to be nearly impossible to knock off. The magic of CFB is evaporating and EPL is just more entertaining for me right now. (Plus, my kid LOOOVES soccer)
Confidence on bowls a few weeks out not knowing who will opt out, or portal out, or anything is trying rolling the dice. Here we go! Buckle up.

I hate to have any kind of quarterback "controversy", however if Drones didn't return we were likely looking to pay an experienced backup from the portal in case Pop got hurt. As a RS freshman he has plenty of eligibility left and will certainly see the field regardless of who is the starter next fall.
This is what concerns me the most. Do whatever we can to retain Pop after what he showed.

Yep. Should be a great QB battle this spring and fall. And we don't have to go sign an experienced back up like Schlee now. The QB room should be set for next year. May the best man win!

This will be Drones' final year of eligibility, correct? If so, Pop seems to acknowledging that he is willing to develop one more year and then take the reigns. I'm sure he had offers to go elsewhere and play next year.
I 100% think the QB1 spot should be wide open in spring, but if he is sticking around that makes me feel good for the QB position in the future (as long as we can keep Pop after the '25 season)

Someone told Drones the truth about his development this year and he smartly realized he can make more money in his career by staying another year.
Now the question is can Pop beat him for the starting position?
I am legitimately confused by this one. Not gonna lie. I figured Drones was gone, sure as the world, and that Pop was the heir apparent. I'm assuming Drones starts again next year and Pop yet again waits in the wings...?
Hopefully we can continue to hold onto him. I assume with Drones' injury issues right now, that Pop will at least be the starting QB for the bowl game. 🤷🏻
Finally some good news!! This may be a QB controversy, but this is a good problem to have!
I don't think personally there's any way Bud comes back as DC. But I could see him in a Jerry Kill-esque advisor role. Sounds like behind the scenes there's a desire to get him more involved with the team again. But if Pry brings in an outside DC with a totally new scheme, all bets are off.
One can only hope. I hate the tarholes.

They already have his brother and about 4 corners way better than him. Why would they want to pay to bring in someone that won't even slot into their 2-deep?
