I wonder who is even available.
My dad tells the story of when he was...brawl adjacent...at some point in the mid- to late-70s against VMI when he sensed someone approach from behind. He whipped around and came face-to-chest with a police horse. Felt like a good moment to return to the stands.
It would just about kill some people in Charlottesville.
Sign me up.

Oof.
Thanks for the lol
So I know that we want to get the best guy that we can and I know that these things normally take time, but I would assume that we would need to make a hire sooner, rather than later with it already being transfer season.
Seeking a coach to run his signature system would limit the potential talent pool significantly. Get the best guy out there. Living in the Portal Era makes this an easier decision since you can retool your roster before the next season.
Other than a bowl loss, what do you think could go poorly that would warrant firing him?
I mean, he made seemingly the right decisions on replacing the weakest areas in his coaching staff. Unless you think he might make some choices that aren't viewed as strong hires by Whit?
I'd say the very fact that some of those teams have done well is a testament that it's possible to play above your weight class. I mean, given what everyone says about NEEDING talent, and how you need it to win, I'd say there shouldn't be even a vague possibility that Vandy can beat Alabama. Were also within 3 of LSU. They played some tough teams tight. There are other teams that have beat the juggernauts, maybe not consistently, but, like I said, if what everyone says is true about talent gaps, there shouldn't be a way for those teams to beat the blue bloods.
I think, given our resources, we can bring a solid team together and compete. I remain hopeful - Bowen seems like he can scheme well, including when we have different players, and think we're a solid OLine away from being able to put up 40 points per game. If we can get a D that's fairly effective, we're hard to beat. We shall see, but like I said, I remain hopeful.
OH FUCK WE DID SOMETHING
I hope they're not busy with their team right now because I want it to be Ryan Walters

Yeah, I don't think general medicine is where you get the really big bucks. Specialists is where they get more money.
That's where I'm at as well. If Pry wants to coach D, then do it himself, otherwise hire someone who has had excellent defenses and let them do what they want.
Not sure - I re-read and it's hard to tell - it seems genuine. I mean a lot of players put their bulking on Twitter or instagram and it looked impressive. But as someone said below, it didn't seem to translate on the field.
Lol. Here's a leg for hoping
Who knows, maybe we'll get a good one from a top program who doesn't mind coming early because a lot of his 5 star talent wants to sit out the bowl game to get ready for the NFL, so he doesn't feel as guilty if he leaves early. A guy can hope, right 😂
At this moment, put aside Pry's D style and go out and hire that most talented DC he can land with the expectation that the new DC will bring their signature style D with them. Take what roster he has and place them accordingly. Leverage portal as usual. Start recruiting HS players that fit his style. Start the next chapter of Bud Jr D domination
I think the general take was he was good at getting progress pics that looked impressive but didn't translate to the field.
Plot twist, VT hires Stephen Belichick as DC!
Yeah, I was feeling too lazy to count, but that's pretty good and fairly consistent. Like I said in above - I'd like to see what he could do with a good line, how many points he could put on the board. I mean, I remember under Fuente, there were a lot of times we'd have the ball inside the 10 and couldn't convert.
Speaking of - if I'm remembering that correctly, and Vice was our OLine coach, I'm not sure he'd be the best to get.
Edit for clarity, more specifically, we'd be on the goal line and our line couldn't get the push to cross the line. I remember that happening several times, against different teams. Maybe that's Hilgart, maybe it's Vice, but at least this year we converted on most goal line appearances.
Lol hilgartification was some of the weirdest stuff I've ever seen.
I just want us to set the tone. Let's get Shoresy, I think he's available.
Pretty sure it's a joke
2030

Pleasantly surprised and relieved to see all of the apparent biggest areas of need addressed at once (outside of possibly QB development) while maintaining some staff continuity. I'm still anxious that the replacement hires won't have enough experience to make an immediate difference on the field or help maintain excitement around the program for recruiting, but at least now there's some hope and Pry actually did what he needed to do.
Taking a moment to acknowledge the work those coaches put into the program and the fact firing people you like based on performance could not have been easy for Pry. I think whether or not he's able to make good enough staff hires remains the biggest open question for Pry as the head coach and his willingness to make changes was a very positive indicator he could still be successful at VT.
