If the water was up and muddy, a dark colored small tube bait, fished on the bottom in eddies, is a decent bet for trying to find bigger fish. Glad you got out, though, and we all thank you for your report. Fries is an interesting area. Just downstream is Double Shoals, three miles or so of giant boulders and broken water that'll give an experienced paddler/angler fits trying to fish, sometimes, but yields some really nice fish. There are also walleye there in the river year round, but I've only floated from Fries down, never spent much time around Fries proper.

I'm with this take. Though I know this is a trap game, CJF has me believing he has changed the culture dramatically (already).

I fully expect VT to put up a big number next weekend.

My buddy and I went fishing on the new river near Fries, VA this weekend. He caught a 11" smallmouth on a silver and black rooster tail. That was all we caught, with all the rain we had probably didn't help much but it was nice to get out and put a line in the water.

This gave me goosebumps. You could grate Parmesan on my shin. Wow.

Watching the game (about 2.5 times) and now seeing this just cements what I'm sure a lot of us suspected about CJF: that he's not only a great offensive mind. He's a great motivator and unifier.

I've been looking forward to seeing how players within each position group would react to the reality of shared playing time. Our rushing and receiving stat sheets run 6-7 players deep, we have 7-8 OL getting meaningful snaps, and we platoon at DT, DE, and CB. To see T-Mac so geeked for the successes of other runners; to see our "starting" OLine run off the field after a touchdown and get mobbed by the backups; to see Adonis celebrate a Stroman pass breakup as if he did it himself; it does my heart good to see these kids enjoying team successes. Stands to reason, I guess, since so many guys contribute & get to feel like a part of it.

I know we have good skill guys, and veteran linemen on both sides, and all that. But CJF has changed the vibe around this team, and It. Is. Exciting. As. Hell.

Also, Jerod Evans is going to be a pretty decent QB. #calledit

LLLLLLET'S GOOOOOO...

Let's leave out bama. I was there the one time we beat them in a sleet rain snow, but too many other games still give me indigestion.

I agree with your assessment of their fanbase. Maybe they're not great, but UNC is good at football. They are deserving of recognition of that, regardless of how their fanbase opines on the matter.
