When you find a way to accurately forecast mesoscale stuff days in advance let NOAA and the NWS know because thatll be worth a TON of money that stuff is really hard to forecast in advance. Think about it how difficult is it to forecast where a tornado will occur days in advance. A rain band is the same scale

It seems reasonable that the game against Liberty was intentionally not high-performing. Why show much of your playbook before a bigger matchup if you don't have to?

Time will tell, however, whether the team can keep performing in the 80's or 90's, or if the typical performance will be less than that and we just happened to see back-to-back outliers.

That prediction has it pushing even further south at its apex than they were predicting this morning. If this trough from the north continues to push down and hold it back, it could conceivably miss us.

Put it this way, 48 hours ago, the prediction had the eye sitting over Raleigh at kickoff. Now, this prediction has the eye at the apex of the ribbon shape right at 2pm on Saturday, with the outer edges of the rainfall skirting about 30-40 miles inland from Raleigh, right around Chapel Hill.

Don't get me wrong, anyone at the coast, you're gonna get hit regardless, so get out while you can, but its not looking as bad for the Triangle area as it did earlier.

All true, but he does wind down how much preseason projection matters and I believe before this past weekend it was already down to 30%. I think our offense was spectacular against BC and very very good against ECU, but only pretty good against Tennessee and not very good against Liberty. Of course that could be because we didn't need to be, and time will tell if that's the case.

The game has changed a bit from those days. I think GT is looking around and seeing what it took at Clemson to turn the program around and the pains that Miami is going through, in particular the costs and expectations are changing.

Exactly. There's 30 miles between Raleigh and Chapel Hill. Its certainly looking like Raleigh is going to get some heavy rain during this thing, but it looks like Chapel Hill itself could be spared from the really bad stuff.

I fully understand that point. My point is that GT alum are basically saying "if I'm going to give $, I'm going to do so in a way that makes GT a better school, not to sports".

It's the same reason that GT is in a financial bind on BB former coach salaries, that many others have mentioned. In contrast, LSU had no probs raising $ to buy out Les' sizable contract. Sports simply isn't teh focus of potential donors at GT, like it is at other schools.

And im not entirely sure where the NWS or weather.com are gettinf the 1.3 inches of rain friday, agree to disagree I suppose but regardless it will be rainy and windy during the game I think we can agree there
