Hey guys, I'm Chris. I've met a few of you in Lot 18. I'm the dude who rolls up with Danny Coale Is My Spirit Animal and ever more Yuengling to add to the collection. I'm also the quiet guy who gets really not quiet when alcohol gets involved, so... sorry about that. I hope it at least ends up more amusing than annoying.

I grew up in Grundy, VA where our current VT wrestling coach spent some time winning a bunch of high school state titles. Currently I'm in Richlands, VA. I'm a photographer by trade but not the cool kind or the glamorous kind. The school and family portrait and sometimes weddings kind.

I like beer, watching the Hokies while drinking beer, re-watching the Hokies to see what I missed because of beer, the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. I'm also into Indy and NASCAR racing, good music and good books. I hate UVA (don't we all?), but my truest hate is reserved for Tennessee and all the stupid ass songs their fans sing to each other a every two minutes. My battle scars from Bristol may never heal.

Also, first post. Glad to get that out of the way!

I think the problem solves itself. Rather than sending out 150 "offers" (which do not exist because no true, committable offer can be sent until Aug. 1 of the senior year in the current scheme) to underclassmen, coaches will be more hesitant to send out an offer until they're sure a kid merits one. You know you're going to have your superstars that you can see a mile away, but those are only a few. Offers will start to go out to juniors, but there won't be as many; you won't see Harbaugh calling every kid in America with an "offer." He'll have to choose. Doing this will leave some room in every class, because coaches won't want to miss out. Offers can go out at any point after the early period, the way I'm thinking of it, or at least during the current "normal" offer period. So in all likelihood, all this would do is get the kids that are ready to sign early to do so, make the coaches more likely to be judicious with their offers, and take away most of the ambiguity and games that get played currently.

Did one year at VT after finishing my dissertation while my wife finished vet school. Then we moved to MD when she got an internship and I got my current fellowship. So I am on 3+ years in my current position, 4+ years total. It's time to move on. Tons of opportunities have been posted in recent weeks and I've sent in a number of applications to great schools. Hoping I get an interview or two.

I can see the good and the bad of both sides. In some cases, it's hard to see a player's true potential until his junior or senior season, though, so what happens to those kids who are "late bloomers"?
A few kids are naturally bigger and stronger when they are in 9th&10th grades (where an early signing period would benefit), but a majority of kids don't develops until later on (early signing period wouldn't benefit).

You were there before me I think. I started in '04, was a rides manager after the Cedar Fair buyout in 2006. Was Operations Sup by 2011. Some corporate changes kind of drove me away but I havnt left the place completely.
