This is better than the 2012,2014 and 2015 Hokies. Remember we were 6-1 in 2013 with a top 5 defense until we fell apart. It's too early to say otherwise.

As a cautionary tale I'll bring up 2003. We did some fantastic things early in the year including beating the stuffing out of creampuffs like JMU as well as throttling aTm. Then we dropped a game we should've won in Morgantown. Upending #2 Miami the next week should have righted the ship but instead was an oasis in a sea of sub-par performances. We edged out Temple due to a missed XP in OT and lost to LOLUVA for Pete's sake. Long story short I won't evaluate the significance of our hot start until we have a MUCH larger sample size.

The worst part is when you look at the talent we had at the time, it's hard to say this team is anywhere near that '03 team. Randall at QB, Jones at TB, D-Hall Eric Green, and Michael Crawford in the defensive backfield, and lines on both sides of the ball loaded with all Big East caliber talent.

Stanford at Washington -3.5
North Carolina at Florida State -11.5
Tennessee -3.5 at Georgia
Wisconsin at Michigan -10.5
Memphis at Ole Miss -14.5
Louisville -1.5 at Clemson

So after last week, I reversed my gut decision on every pick.

Keep your eyes on the weather. There could be a bad storm next Wednesday-Thursday.

Oh, and I saw Adonis Alexander play in high school the night before the win over Ohio State. If you told me that night he would be our starting corner, I would have laughed at you. He has been much better than I ever expected. But, once I saw him working at corner that spring, you knew he had the potential to be a difference maker.
