I do believe that Lefty's scheme is one that can only work with the right quarterback. You will need a guy who can make complex reads and deliver the ball in a narrow window (of both time and space) if it is ever to work. I think Brewer had the cerebral ability to learn the scheme but lacked the physical tools. And the demand that offense puts on the QB makes it hard for the backup to be game ready.
I don't see ND being a nooner two weeks in a row. My guess is VT-UNC will not be 3:30. I don't have a clue (no one does probably) if it will an nooner or an evening game.
As a UNC grad student who has just now found two people here who care about football, we need to win so I can gloat a little.

Michigan State's been one of the most reliably great teams in the country since 2009 and have faced attrition before. They may not be playoff caliber this year, but there's no reason to think they've dropped off that significantly that they are no longer a solid win (or anything like Wake).
None of those are nearly as bad.
the FSU/UNC game should have lots of fireworks then...both teams have capable offenses and bad defenses
I'm hoping that UNC will come in confident from scoring bunches of points against FSU(win or lose) and then we'll straight dominate them
Do think that Bud will have a gamplan against UNC especially coming off a bye week . don't think that UNC offense is humming at its finest yet. What will be interesting is the battle at the perimeter of the field. Whosoever is better at execution of screens, lateral passes and jet sweeps with the occasional power option on either side will probably win the game.

The last two times we played them, we went into the half down 10-3 and tied 10-10, respectively. The offense would fail to put a point on the board in the second half of either game.
Foster's defense collapsed in the second half of the 2011 ACCCG, but in the regular season meeting that year, he held Clemson to 118 fewer yards and ten fewer points than they averaged that year.
I have no doubt in Foster's ability to counter Clemson enough to give the offense a chance to win the game.
They are allowing almost 5yds per rush this year. Their Defense is looking a tad porous

If we avoid those, we seem to do pretty well.
I'm pretty sure we will contain him on punt returns as we aren't in danger of out kicking our coverage this year.

I think I read that every team that has played UNC has had approximately 100 yds more rushing then they typically do. So Tech should have about 315 yds on the ground or more.
On a side note, doesn't it feel like Switzer, Hood, and Howard have been at UNC for about 6 years now? It isn't time for UNC to had them a fake diploma and kick them out the door? How good will Fedora be next year with his skill players gone?

I think you're right, and I'll reiterate what I said on another thread - if Lefty had five years to raise players in his system, I think it would become much less complex. Not because the system wouldn't be complex, but having players learn your system from day 1 makes it much easier to execute when you have four or five years to learn it. I'm wondering if he will ever have the chance to make that happen.

Only part about UNC I've seen this year was the second half comeback against Pitt. And to accomplish that, Pitt looked pretty terrible on defense for a while. Their offense isn't as explosive as it was last year, but they are efficient and can march the field if you give them room. But their defense is atrocious, and its all anyone talks about on the radio here in Raleigh. Apparently Chizik has publicly called them out numerous times for just not being all that good this year, and it really hasn't sunk in. They cannot stop the run, and they're not much better against the pass. As Steve Logan puts it, they're going to have to score 45 a game to hope to win.
Least you didn't draft Gronk in first 2 rounds and start him last week.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. I think Trubisky's one truly impressive game was this week at Pitt and they were losing for literally 99.9% of that game. Their defense has not improved all that much. Their offense is obviously very good and can score in an instant, but I think we can slow them down enough that we will be able to keep up on offense.

Luckily I already had over 115 points in a standard league or I would've been so pissed. Where are his targets going? That man was their offense last year.
