Give South Park some credit, they beautifully predicted how this would carry over into the regular season with their season opener this year.

That's pretty sweet. I'd never heard of it before.
They can't score without the ball, and their D has been putrid. Every team, including JMU has had 400+ yards offense and a back who has rushed for near, or 100+ while averaging 7-9 ypc. They can't stop average to slightly above avg offenses.
I think we will pound them in to submission on the ground and hit them over the top for some quick scores. I am hoping for a 1st Q Ohio St offense for the entire game.

Much more confident about our dline this year. Org with pass rush and against the run . With the spread it really helps to have your big boys win against their big boys to stop the run without putting extra players in the box . The two backs of Hood and Logan have 472 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns beteeen the two . Trubisky has 62 yards on only 2.4 yard avg so he runs to keep the defense honest on keepers. Making them rely heavy on pass will make bud happy .
What's funny is, you also just described exactly what Bud Foster does to run a defense. Fuente has brought that mentality to both sides of the ball. I honestly think that's why Foster decided to stay. When he and Fuente had their powwow, Bud had to have heard his own thoughts echoing in Fuente's sentiments.

I think you mean that UNC might be able to keep pace.
Sure, in that regard all spread offenses are similar. But comparing the design of UNC's offense to ours, do we attack the perimeters in the same way, do we use formation the same way, do we use motion the same way, do we use a similar passing tree, do we have similar core plays, etc.

This is the second consecutive week we've been discussing donuts. First Bud talking about how he likes them after the BC game, now Cam bringing donuts back into the spotlight. Offensive and defensive donuts for everyone!
Well then, I guess Jerod should feed Cam more.
I don't know. I feel like we recently played an offense very similar to one we used to run. Doubt it helped us in that game.
Cam Phillips can have 2 dozen more donuts, and I'd be okay with that.

# | Virginia Tech Rights the Ship Against East Carolina, Beats the Pirates 54-17 Best guess: Since the full back position has in essence been done away with (and he was stuck behind sam rogers anyway), why not take a kid with a great attitude and fantastic work ethic and toughness and put him at a position he could contribute on defense. The picture of his tackle looked pretty solid, although I can't tell what position they have him playing.

Mystery solved. Thanks for the response. FWIW, I think it's all about culture and discipline. We beat one of the best teams in history of college football with a Loeffler offense. But that same offense sputtered against way lesser opponents. If you listen closely to Fuente from the summer to now. It's all about one play, one game, and being in control. He said after TN he was worried during the game about the emotional high and inevitable crash. I loved that we let our boys play with so much emotion in previous regime, and it produced some magic, but also inconsistency. It seemed like we were an offense that relied heavily on a few superior athletes to take over games at key moments. When we didn't have those athletes we were in trouble and even more so when we weren't playing high. Fuente is about the system. He's about execution. He doesn't want heroes, he wants consistent plays. Consistent plays that build patterns for the defense to key on. Patterns designed to create some level of hesistation in the defense and allows a 3star player get a step on a 5 star. He doesn't need the homerun hitter to win games, although it won't hurt. I think the team learned this in the TN game and will look back on it as a turning point in the season.
We seem to be taking for granted how smooth this coaching transition has been. I don't think any other school has seen anything like this.
We had a whole Beamerball Vs Fuball thread, yet Fuente has continued to talk about building upon Beamer's legacy rather than Fuente bringing in his own brand of football. There are only a few fans that seem to try and make it Beamer vs Fuente, and I think it's because not everyone knows how to act during a smooth head coaching change.
