I think we did pretty well against ECU. Nelson is not a runner by any stretch, but the few times coverage was good and he a decent running lane, we stopped him after a few yards. And we had Summers pretty well locked down when he took direct snaps as well. Obviously we had a clear idea of what Summers would do when he took a direct snap, but still, Bud showed that he can make adjustments to stop scramble drills and designed runs. I feel better about running QBs than I have in the past.

all valid points

that being said, there will be "good on good" this week due to the bye. But all in all going against Cornelsen's spread isn't really a thing for Bud's defense and not all spreads are the same so It's unlikely to be very helpful. The only tangible benefit the team might get is the increased conditioning that Fuente has instilled across the board.

If When we win, I will wear my Tech jersey to class on Monday with the biggest dopey grin on my face. It will be great.

Thought it was time to bump this post to the top, and get another rally of members to join the TKPC.

I am officially the 265th member to join this fine establishment. This website is truly THE BEST website for Virginia Tech sports, and for online interaction with those that bleed O&M. The amount of energy and effort put in by Joe, French, Ryan, and all you other magnificent TKP staff is truly amazing and something that I am very proud to support! THIS IS HOME. Like so many others before me have said, I love this website. I couldn't imagine not being able to come and read and learn from (and attempt to understand) French's great analysis, laugh at TheFifthFuller's "Foe"Rensics, and all of the other fantastic articles and DB posts that are contributed every day. Couple that with a community like no other...man, does it really get any better?!

Enough with the sentimental stuff...what does all of this mean? It means it's time to start another wave of supporters, that's what! I am calling on you, the magnificent members of the TKP, those who haven't joined and are watching our antics in the shadows, and those who love to laugh at LOLUVA's attempts to football like real men, to come and join The Key Players Club (if financially able of course)!!! Let's get that ticker in the upper right hand corner to 300 ASAP! TO THE BEST HOKIES WEBSITE...DRINK!

That is a misconception that Bud is practicing against our spread offense every day. The defense is practicing against a scout team offense mimicking the opponents offense. It would not help us come saturday to practice against our offense if they run different plays. Spring ball and fall camp he is going against it but not when the season starts.

Exactly. Clemson had their worst performances against Bud's defense. I'm not talking wins and losses. Our defense played relatively well.

I like a 3pm (cold) Carol Lee donut better than a hot Krispy Kreme. You know what was truly a religious experience? When I started having to drive by Carol Lee at 6am and had a hot blueberry cake donut, or a hot bavarian cream filled for the first time (there's a joke there somewhere)... and the second, and the third, and so on.

There is no regional option. Any splits they do on ABC has the reverse mirror on ESPN or ESPN2 (meaning that the game gets nationwide coverage). They have yet to use any this year, and seem to be phasing them out based on the last few years.

Now, I'm not saying they won't do a reverse mirror, but I'm just pointing out that it will be accessible on TV everywhere.

But every loss I can remember can be placed squarely on the Offense. Even in the ACC championship where they put up 38 it was after a total system failure of the offense putting immense pressure on our defense. In 2011 the offense scored 13 points in two games.

Perusing the gallery, I found your gem. It's the one where the Edmunds Bros meet up at Zay Jones for the team tackle.

Great photos. Thanks.
