60 minutes of game time. 3 hours of being there due to absurd amounts of tv timeouts and such. It's great you donate and drive far to watch the team you live, but no one in the stadiums owes you anything at all. That's two hours of standing around in the heat. Not liking paper airplanes I understand, but the freaking wave? Come on, that's is ridiculous.
It's typical negative mentality that clings to the one or two things they don't like that dictates how they perceive things. Nevermind that 95% of the game everyone is involved, yelling and cheering, but that one time people try to do the wave it immediately ruins the game.

We also used to play to the level of the competition and we would let lesser talented teams hang around way too long and have it end up biting us in the ass way too often. 2014 and 2015 we sleepwalk the ECU games and allow them to jump on us with a flurry of points that we can't come back from, try as we might. 2016, we don't just jump out on teams, but we go for the killshot.
This is a different era of Hokie football, my friend. Trash the historical trends going forward, especially for series where our inability to do anything on offense has historically hurt us.
Last year was in East this year in West next year back to east.
Settle wore 25 last week. So therefore he had to have been wearing it again on Saturday. The number changing is what threw off their stats.

Here's the other thing... he showed this passion before a game against the University of Eastern Carolina from the conference he just left. Easily could have viewed this as another warmup game for the ACC slate, but he treated it as a game to make a statement against a team that has been a thorn in our ass for a while. And we f'n buried them.
The entire Coastal Division has been put on notice. Virginia Tech has learned how to play offense...

Amazing speech. He is so calm in the public eye but you get a sense of the fire that he has burning for the success of the program and for these kids.

Yea, I remembered looking that up last year and realizing that streak was ending. A somewhat related note (just not VT), Bama has been ranked #1 at some point in every season since 2008.

At the beginning of the year the advanced metrics had them at 51% to win 7-8 games. Now it's 58% to win 8-9 games. Also other than Miami their odds of winning against every opponent have increased (I have the numbers from the Football Outsiders almanac, I don't know if they're available online).
I still have some concerns because the offense hasn't been super-efficient. I'm not sure you can live just hitting big play after big play. The numbers on the offense reflect that- they're middling according to the fancy stats. If the defense and special teams continue to play at a high level it might work. They're also due for some good turnover luck.
I love Frank, he was all i had known.
Whit Babcock needs a street named after him. He has set things straight for Basketball. Football is back on track.

Think, a Juco QB with 13 TDs and 1 int ,that is coaching and that is playing within yourself. We just smoked 2 teams and the games were over by halfway thru the 3rd quarter . Corny and FU are the real deals, maybe best QB coaches in the entire USA. This offensive staff and the improvements the defensive staff to go along with Bud is truly the best we could hope for . This team is for real and now is believing in the scheme and improves a little every day, momentum and confidence are surging . JF said he is tired of hearing about other teams and is ready to start hearing about us. That doesn't sound like someone who doesn't think they can achieve things, he wants to be noticed. I know BC and ECU aren't top 20 teams but they aren't the type of teams you crush easily . ECU has and excellent offense QB ect. and BC has a very good D . JF knows how important the UNC game will be and with and extra week to prepare we will be ready and locked and loaded down there. Everyone can talk about Miami, ND , UNC and Pitt but I think we are better right now than any of them . 450 yds and 41points per game who picked those numbers ? We may not win out but we are going to dish out some butt whoppins on some un suspecting foes going forward . We are back !!!!! Remember JF and Cornelius have set 46 all time school records at the places they have been and are getting ready to set some more here. Thank you Whit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This is going to be fun times . Where do you typically sit? In my experience, only sitting in East have I encountered the paper airplanes. If it bothers you, which is fair, I would recommend trying to find seats in West with alumni less likely to do it rather than down-throw of the students in East.

Granted Gallo is not the fastest player in the world, but it appears to me he is the first player down inside the five yard line on that play turning around in a circle looking to block somebody as Evans is propelled across the goal line. It might have been all he could do to move his big, bulky butt 55 yards down field. Let's make him run 200 meter intervals on 15 seconds rest this week. His snaps seemed good this week.
What I liked about him during that signing epoch of the Fab 4 was how much it appeared that he wanted to be a Hokie.
It was sometime in the third quarter. I don't believe it started while there was play on the field, but it definitely spilled over into it. Granted, this was a blowout win so it isn't so bad. But it has started up before in games that are incredibly close and while we're on a crucial offensive drive. That is just unacceptable.
I'm not against fun. But I'm not that far removed from college, and I have never thought the wave was interesting or fun. I'm used to standing all game and screaming until the final whistle and being hoarse the next few days. That's a good, fun football game to me.
Nice to hear about all the people who watch til the last second.
Always interesting to see who leaves before the games ends.
ECU was a game to savor!
