Fun Fact: Prior to the 2015 season, the last time a Virginia Tech football team went an entire season without showing up in the Top 25 rankings was 1992. That's one hell of a long streak, and shows that returning to the rankings is just putting ourselves back to where we should be in the national scene.

That was my first few fly fishing experiences as well. The casting is something you can practice in the yard but reacting to the strike and being quick enough to set the hook is something you can only learn through experience. But what a damn fun experience it is. Hopefully you stick with it, fly fishing is the third most rewarding outdoor experience in my book, behind spring gobbler hunting and bow hunting with my recurve. Good luck!

# | Ask TKP: A Quarter of the way through the 2016 season, have your expectations changed? Offense is ahead of schedule and I have been pleasantly surprised. I'm not shocked by that though because I was pretty bullish on our offensive revival being immediate, but it's been better than I even expected. I think that a loss to Pitt at this point is a disappointment, their defense is porous and the team is less talented than us across the board. I think Miami and UNC have been less impressive than we have, although Trubisky was impressive last game. I think if we lose to those teams it's "okay" but I think the team is playing well enough to where there aren't any games on the schedule we can't win.
I want us to capitalize on as many wins as we can this season and should be firmly in contention for the Coastal, if not win it. We almost certainly lose Ford and Bucky after this year and we need to take advantage of their talent while we have it.

# | Ask TKP: A Quarter of the way through the 2016 season, have your expectations changed? I think a positive change on one side of the ball can certainly create a positive change on the other side. It stands to reason that a suddenly effective offense can certainly fuel a good defense. Same thing is going on in Philly with the Eagles. The offense suddenly is effective and able to move the sticks regularly, and the defense goes from good to dominating.

Things that are surprisingly pleasing - Evans back shoulder fade, Tim Settle's presence in the middle against the run, Marshawn's minutes, and Mook Reynolds.
Things that I worry about - run blocking, Brandon Facyson possibly being a coverage liability, and punting.
Does anyone know when was the last time we were ranked?
Hopefully we see some NFL FAINTS soon.
This is the reason that YPA is a good stat to use, vs "volumetric" measures like passing yards.

Evans is the real deal! I thought this when I saw him live at the BC game but this past Sat. makes me believe it that much more. I was watching the game on TV and didn't get to hear Jon Laaser's call on the radio for this play. Anyone know how to find this?

Having that number next to your name makes a difference when it comes to respect from national media, which does make a difference to a recruit. The only reasons I can see for not wanting it are being afraid we will show ourselves as over-rated, or needing the disrespect for motivation. I ain't scared, and I'd rather learn to go ahead and learn to motivated to play as the favorite now than having to learn it later. Do I need it to feel good about the team or does it drive my excitement, no - but better to have it than not. Pretty sure no-one has made the play-offs without one yet.
If I have learned two things in life, it's be careful what you say in the comments section, and Jerod Evans is going to win the Heisman.
