But when we're out there, we want those guys to play hard, smart, and tough. That causes those guys to go out there and strain. If you're not getting tired, you're not playing hard enough.

Oh, no, I think preseason polls are fine. That's purely speculative and everyone accepts them as such. But the polls in weeks 1-3 are a weird combination of carryover from preseason speculation mixed with on-field results. Like with Notre Dame, 0-1, so it's absurd to see them ranked, except that the preseason speculation that they are good is overriding the fact that they lost a close game away from home. Then you've got Tennessee, who won but plummeted seven spots, because taking a Sun Belt team to overtime has pollsters seriously second-guessing their initial impression of the team.
TL;DR. Keep the preseason polls to hype week 1 matchups. Don't update the polls until week 4, to allow a feeling-out period to adjust polls based on actual game results.

# | Henri Murphy Hoping to Use His Status as One of the Speediest Hokies to Boost Tech's Offense Ford isn't a WR that gets a lot of separation. He battles for the ball and wins a lot of the 50/50 situations.
I'm just going to chalk it up as first game jitters rather than admit to the effectiveness of "boxing glove on a stick".

...assuming OU was any good in the first place.
If they end up going 7-6 then that win sucks and UH shouldn't necessarily be shoe'd in.

Never said it was a good analysis :)
If any current players are reading this...
I'd like somebody to reach out and get Murphy. I don't want that boy getting homesick. I'm worried about him.
Butch Jones likes to put the TV on Tennessee games, turn up the volume, and then lose the remote.
Rendering the TV useless, except for this Saturday night.

# | Henri Murphy Hoping to Use His Status as One of the Speediest Hokies to Boost Tech's Offense Sounded like in the context of the interview it might have just been Ford's blocking that Wiggins was referencing
FWEN-tay
Two syllables, not three like the ACC Network commentators were trying to make it.
I whole heartedly disagree. If a #10 team loses to a #2 team, that was the expected outcome. That's what these rankings are for. Should the #10 drop? Absolutely, but they shouldn't drop out of the polls because they lost to a team that is expected to be better than them.
Its worth noting however, that I think preseason rankings are dumb and should not be a thing.
Butch also calls Kroger, "Krogers"
A bit off topic, but seriously, what's the pronunciation straight from Fuente? I have heard more variations of how to say his name than during the 'Bay-Jing' Olympics...
From what I gather, it's "Fwhentay" , but I could be wrong... Local radio windbag Greg Roberts calls him "Fwaynetay" and it drives me absolutely bonkers. Of course it could be dialect and/or accent that adjusts what is perceived as the pronunciation as well, but still.
Does the media guide have a pronunciation key that includes his name?
Butch Jones likes to create bottlenecks by driving beside trucks on I-81, going the same speed as them
Completely agree with this. Couldn't have said it any better.
edit: meant as a response to Biomech Hokie
Minor tweak. Fuente said it was about Colt practicing better. And that may indeed be true. If Fuente now tries to say Colt starts over Wyatt because he played better, that's a bold-faced lie.

I understand that and can respect it, I was just curious, I've never heard anything bad about teller so I just wasn't sure why he made it in to the dog house so fast with these new coaches, feel free to down vote me into oblivion
It says "Unofficial Depth Chart"
Just wait until Lawson takes the field, they will have no idea who he is.
You and Rosie, huh?
Several posters have claimed #sauces for various things. I don't see why we need to re-hash any of that here or offer more room for speculation, informed or otherwise. I know everyone's frustrated and wants to know why our best O-lineman's playing time is reduced. That's between him and Fuente. Everyone knows it's not performance-based, so it is clearly disciplinary and/or effort. That's all that needs to be said. Fuente has said it's about Colt playing better, but it's not true (no disrespect to Colt but Wyatt is better) and is merely Fuente's way of deflecting without throwing Wyatt under the bus. As much as I don't like smoke and mirrors, I like the fact that he's keeping it internal.
Butch Jones converted to Judaism purely for the jokes.

This is a universally true statement.
