The entire SEC West, and a good portion of the East, does so every year.

Doesn't have the graphic that you found, but it does say that the field is scheduled to be fully installed by the 28th, and overall it looks like there should be some wiggle room in the schedule. They'd have been foolish not to build in any margin for 2-3 days worth of error, whether it's for weather-related delays, unforseen engineering issues, or whatnot.

Who is this post directed to though? I'm reading an older version, but I only see one guy that didn't like it, and to me it seemed that it was because he has been a hokie for 50 years, and just wanted O&M for the game. Can you blame him? Have you been a hokie for 50 years? Why does it matter if people are politely disagreeing with the uniform? No one is being disrespectful here.

The forecast looks like it'll clear up within the next couple of hours. The delay puts BMS behind one day as they were supposed to start immediately after the race was over last night, but I still think they'll have no problem getting everything done in time.

I'd be interested to know how many P5 teams didn't have a game last season where they allowed 35+ points. I would think almost every, if not every, gave up 35 at least once.

They are actually doing the full throwback scheme for Darlington, which I love that all the teams after last year are getting onto that spirit again.
Though its not like their normal paint job is that far off from the old ones.

Anyone pissed about these uniforms, must not like the entire Merryman/Jamerson renovation. Other than the little bit of O&M sprinkled here and there, the colors are peppercorn (dark grey), popular grey (light grey) and pure white. So an open letter to Whit would be about as useless as...something something loluva.

in the past it always seemed the defense dominated the offense but that was generally okay because we always figured to have a top-notch defense. I'm not sure if I should be encouraged that they're about even or concerned. I'm pretty excited to see what this team looks like though!
So? Giving up 35 points game even as a max is still incredibly high.
I'm no where near a football expert, but I'll do my best to give a quick analysis of the scrimmage.
First off, both offense and defense had their moments. Neither one was absolutely dominating the other and big plays were even between the two. A few things that stood out to me: The defensive line was getting good pressure against the starters on the o line. Given how good the o line is expected to be, I'd say this is reason for optimism during the season. Alexander and Edmunds looked very good at the cornerback spot with a number of broken up passes. As far as the quarterbacks, all 3 looked good but I will say I'd be surprised to see Jackson win the starting spot this year. He's obviously got talent and made some good plays, but he also had a bad interception and missed a wide open receiver downfield that would have been for a touchdown. But he could've just had a bad practice. Evans and Motley both looked solid and I thought there was a noticeable difference in Motley's confidence level compared to last year. I'm pretty confident we'll be in good hands with whoever the quarterback is this year. Oh, and Tmac had a (my guess is 60ish yard) touchdown run too.
So the first time the teams set foot on the field will be game day. This is gong to be interesting.
I imagine they're trying to figure that out right now. The way this is going, it might get pushed back again to tomorrow.... at the very least, it looks like it'll still be a Night Race.
To suggest uniforms don't have an impact on recruiting is just factually wrong. It's been proven. And look at the recruits' reactions on Twitter. They clearly love them.
I'm also not sure what you meant when you said it's kinda hard to go crazy rooting for them in alternate uniforms. If you cheer for your team less because of the color scheme they're wearing, I think the problem runs a little deeper than the uniforms.

No, not at all. My dad played center for Tech from '86 to '90 so he let me tag along and watch yesterday. And as much as I wish I was a recruit, I never got into playing football. Still love to watch it though!

Agreed. Same boat. Ive always been a fan of the retro unis but as far as alternatives.
These are without a doubt. The best alternative uniforms virginia tech has ever worn.
So I haven't gone through all the posts yet but based on the reactions among Hokie fans on twitter and Facebook the uniforms are getting mixed reviews. Then there is the Tennessee fans coming out of the woods on Twitter like crazy trashing them and the team. Up by 30 at the half, starters pulled in 3rd qt, winning SEC and making playoffs. I'm really starting to get the Vols hate.
