Oh cool, I don't remember getting a shut out in the 2014 season. Lemme check which game that was...DAMMIT
Hoda was awesome. She kept walking over to the crowd during the commercial breaks. She was all smiles the entire morning
She's well qualified.
While I found the show interesting, it wasn't what I was expecting/hoping for. I really wish the show had focused more on the athletes; where they're from, how they wound up at EMCC and how they're doing at EMCC, and their struggles in and outside of football. Instead, the show was about 30% football at EMCC through the eyes of the players, about 50% football at EMCC through the eyes of the coach, and about 20% football at EMCC through the eyes of Ms. Wagner.
IMHO, the coach is the most unlikable protagonist of any story line I can think of. All I could think of was how much I hated his leadership style. He was arrogant, condescending, and cared about nothing other than football. He never took responsibility for his actions, always blaming his players. His handling of a potential concussion was amazingly negligent. Getting in multiple physical altercations with an official? Taking time outs at the end of the first half when you're up 48-0? I'm not naive enough to think that all college coaches really believe that their job is to mentor young man on and off the field, but I do think they have a responsibility to somewhat resemble a positive role model. This coach failed to even do that.
Haha, that's not me. There must've been another Hokie in the crowd! What are the odds?
I see GT as the definition of insanity: Doing the same thing every year expecting different results. But at GT you can do that!
I believe the correct response to this sort of criticism is "you're out of whack"
I think this argument is balanced out by VT's opponents needing to score more, which makes them more one-dimensional, which helps Foster.
So she isn't not hot?
Awesome! One of my friends from VT also got a picture with Hoda in Rio because she saw her in her VT shirt.
That's awesome.
Lauren Barnette, Hokie from Wise, VA is a deal or no deal girl. She's not not attractive.
Yep that was me! Hoda went crazy when she saw my VT hat. My wife and I were able to take a picture with her.

Could just be my opinion but I'm almost positive opponents are game planning on defense to slow down Bucky as well as Ford. Just because we haven't had an offense capable of using Bucky correctly, doesn't mean he isn't a very dangerous offensive player. Fact of the matter is, Mandel saying we return nothing exciting on either side of the ball is a false statement.

We lost a lot of contributors? Who? We're returning an incredible amount of starts from last year, and the place we lost the most starters, dline, looks to be in good shape.
Thanks for putting this together Alum!
It is my theory that over the past few years merely a few extra 1st downs per game would have netted us more wins. It was atrocious how many times the offense went 3&out, only to give the ball back to the opposing team after our D had just walked off the field.
It is my opinion that those defensive number totals will actually go down as our offense will be on the field longer, thus keeping the defense more fresh and keeping the other teams offense off the field. Even if we don't necessarily score a bunch more points (how can we not), I think that the simple feat of gaining a few more 1st downs per game will be monumental to Bud's D. And if we do happen to score quickly and the D has to go out on the field again, so what? We scored.
It is also my opinion that this is exactly the thing that allows this 2016 VT football team to be very successful this season. I don't think the offense needs to have it all together when the season begins (although, they do need to be growing). I'm not sure if Bud's D will be vintage this year, but they should be better than last year and that will allow this offense a little breathing room.
I think you're backwards
We're talking about starting a true freshman qb and lost a lot of contributors off of a team that won 6 regular season games last season
Lost a lot of contributors? Really? Brewer. Which other contributors did we lose?
Pitt does get back James Conner though and returns pretty much everyone else of note
yeah, except 25% of their offense...the best receiver they've had since Fitzpatrick...
I'm not saying this team is going to win the division or anything..but I think it's absurd to think this is going to be the worst team we've had in over 20 years. We have a ton of experience on the offensive line, we're returning our 1000 yard rusher, 1000 yard receiver, TE Bucky Hodges, Cam Phillips....we have promising young talent offensively and now we have a coaching staff who probably actually knows how to utilize all of that talent to it's full potential.
Meanwhile, Pitt returns beast RB Connor but they still don't have a QB and they lost their ace receiver, Boyd. And their offensive coordinator. Pitt figures to be stout defensively but they're going to struggle on offense this year IMO. They are going to be super one-dimensional which will make it hard for them to win the division. Especially against teams that will be able to score in bunches (UNC, Duke, Miami, potentially VT)
I think Pitt lost more contributors from their team than we did. I also think we return more "players of note" than Pitt...your statements are flip-flopped
Any reference to Schultz is allowed. Rest in peace sweet prince.
I respect your opinion about the QB's but I think the only way we go with Jackson is if he is the better guy. If he is the best we have to put out there then that is what I think Fuente will do. I don't think there is a short term vs. long term factor in this. The players who give us the opportunities to win and win now will play. Fuente has got to take advantage of the talent at the skill positions this year. Otherwise, I agree with you completely and I think 9-3 is a solid outlook.
Hmmm, food trucks at VT...
.
Hey Google, how do I respond to this level of joy...?

Good call Google, good call.

I am jae1837 and I approve this message.
Over the past two seasons, Memphis averaged only 1:27 less than VT in time of possession... and that was with a defense that wasn't as good as Bud's.
And it made it all the sweeter. There was a lot of internet and talk radio chatter about how London was closing the gap.
We have a big mixed Hokies and Hoos tailgate every time the game's in Charlottesville. The drunker everybody got the more they were talking shit. They were a lot quieter after the game.
38-0 bro haha.

We are long overdue for a break from the injury bug.
